First of all there was always jewish presence in Israel/Palestine as well as the rest of Middle East, "holly books" might lie but archeology, history, and DNA doesn't (have you seen how dark-skinned the Sephardi jews are?) Zionism has nothing to do with Holocaust since Zionism started back in 1890s by Eastern European jews as a response to anti-semitism (surely it grew in even more popularity after holocaust)

The move was a completely pragmatic one, unrelated to any ideology. First of all there was always jewish presence in Israel/Palestine as well as the rest of Middle East, "holly books" might lie but archeology, history, and DNA doesn't (have you seen how dark-skinned the Sephardi jews are?) Zionism has nothing to do with Holocaust since Zionism started back in 1890s by Eastern European jews as a response to anti-semitism (surely it grew in even more popularity after holocaust)

Human nature being what it is the relatively powerless Palestinians are suffering most of the indignity and abuse.

I don't think they should be spoken of equally, as one side is armed to the teeth with state of the art weaponry, receives massive amounts of funding, and the support of the world's only superpower, and (up until the Gaza massacre) the media whereas the other has no army or any conventional defence measures to speak of. That's not an equal situation. In fact, I don't think it should be spoken of in terms of conventional conflict whatsoever. It is a military force being used against civilians.

There is a gulf of difference between someone recruiting a kid, strapping a suicide vest on him and making him go and blow himself up among other kids vs. a soldier going after militants and ends up killing a civilian. There is no moral equivalency there at all. If a soldier or a commander doesn't take all precaution to avoid civilians, then you get into a grey area. However, with suicide bombings, there is no grey area - it is plain evil.

There was deliberate targeting of civilians in the Gaza massacre and that's according to Israeli soldiers themselves so your position is weak in terms of trying to take the moral high ground. Palestinian civilians are perpetual targets for Israel anyway, as they're subject to all sorts of forms of degrading treatment so you basically have no case. For example, Zionist fanatics in Jerusalem can demolish apartment blocks where Palestinians live on the grounds that they were 'built without planning permission' and then immediately build apartments for Jewish settlers. They are certainly the majority on the Israeli side. There is no major movement for peace in Israel and Israel has never really sought peace with the Palestinians due to one pretext or another. However I don't know to what extent Israel was acting on its own behalf in any of these situations as America has a very big say in what they do. But its definite that the US/Israeli side are the biggest rejectionists in terms of seeking a settlement.

It can only be assumed that this attitude has always been present and reflects deeply ingrained racist and supremacist attitudes within the Israeli system.

that is your problem - selective hearing and seeing. you are willing to hear only one side that confirms your preconcieved ideas. And that makes you blind and deaf because anythign that contradicts those ideas is simply dismissed. For every IDF soldier who claimed that someoene was killed on purpose there were thousands who said the opposite. There is no more racism in israel than any western european country (just look up what Switzerland is up to on minaretes in mosques).

You'd be happy for people to hear 'both sides' because Israel is plainly in the wrong, and if people hear 'both sides' this will seem less so. Why would I want to hear from the side that is sneakily stealing more and more land, conducting ethnic cleansing, and is consumed by ultranationalism? Like I said before, the conflict does not consist of two equal combatants. It's more a case of an army against civilians. This should be reflected in peoples' perspectives and in all media coverage.
