Does it vibrate on the gas pedal too? i have vibrations on the mechanical gas pedal at 2500-3000 RPM and my beetle sounds strange when the motor is warm.
This is typical beetle problem. I drive 02 beetle and had same exact problem. I brought the car to the dealer and they replaced cat converter under warranty. Don't forget, you need to go to dealer before 80.000 miles

its your cat converter the heatshields rust off and vibrate you just gotta rip the heat shield off
