@deathincambodia It comes from the liner notes of EP this song is from. I don't know if it has a name. Deathspell Omega's releases have a lot of exclusive artwork that isn't labeled with any kind of title or author.
K3lin, do you also realize that this song has lyrics paraphrased from a poem by a Jewish poet? The section that goes like this: We went to the trough , Lord. We went bent and convulsed. We saw blood, Lord. It was glittering. You dispensed it and we drank it. We saw your image. The gap of your eyes and mouth is void. We went bent and convulsed. It broke us and dissolved us. .... is a somewhat re-written version of Paul Celan's "Tenebrae".
K3lin just stop. If you had any advanced education whatsoever you wouldn't be able to say some of the shit you're saying. And if you had any sense of perspective on things of objective value, you wouldn't say the rest of it. Having a debate of this magnitude on fucking youtube comments is not gonna happen. So I'll stop here.
Oh and just because its a likely rebuttal. I'm white, I can trace my family line back to William the Conqueror. And I grew up in Chicago where I dealt with alot of bullshit from black gangs and black crime in general. So I'm not some "minority" or a liberal wanker. I have reasons to feel otherwise, to probably agree with you. But I care about the truth, objectivity. The difference between the relative and the absolute. So therefore, enough with the cliche NS white power rhetoric.
Because some people ara smarter than others and like to comment? How can one be bothered by the fact that DO make people think and express their thoughts. Isnt that what music and arts in general is all about...here we go again...smart-ass-comment, huh?
"I find atheist fags to actually be more annoying. Theists don't bother me as long as they keep to themselves.
For whatever reason atheists feel like they need to attack everyone that doesn't think like them, much like theists use to do."
This seems to be my experience as well. Only fundie religious people really get on my nerves. Or people who try to see EVERYTHING through the eyes of their religion. Otherwise most religious people aren't all that obnoxious.
"Believe me, I hate Christian logic, my family is Christian, but the problem is people, not their ideology."
I agree with this to a large degree. But saying that the ideology is innocent is very generous at best, and ignorant at worst (no offense). Christianity in particular is NOT innocent or clean in this regard, and the fault does not lay entirely at the feet of the people, unless of course you're including the people who put the bible together, religious leaders, etc in "people".
@pronihilo What does nationalism have to do with Deathspell Omega? And... Nationalism is not a disease. You must understand that some cultures are unique and they must keep their unique-ness. Others have great history, others are great countries, others are rich countries. Its normal these countries not to accept things from other non-unique cultures.
@BLCEK It's not something that has to be corrupted. I mean, nationalism exists from the day countries existed. It's obvious that someone should love and praise the country he lives in and of course his race. This has nothing to do with what other people think and if they are corrupted or not.
@K3lin How is it obvious? It seems to me to be quite immature. Sure it's fine to love the places and people one lives among, but to believe there is some transcendent greatness about it JUST because you were born there is a serious failure in logic. Race is also a completely arbitrary category. There is no scientific genetic basis for race. Ethnicity, skin color, facial features, etc. exist on a scale that is easily attributable to environmental factors that affected human evolution.
@K3lin And this is precisely why nationalism is retarded. Who gets to decide which cultures are "non-unique"? Every culture in history has borrowed from previous cultures and to honestly believe that the culture or nation one was chanced to be born in is the best or most special is perhaps one of the greatest human follies, perhaps even greater than religion.
@ClavicleofSolomon Are you serious? Can you compare the Greek culture with african barbarian cultures? It's a fact that White people have accomplished much more than black people have and metallers have no reason to deny that since most Metal musicians are White... and we can see the mind difference between rappers (that are black) and metalles (that are White). That's why Metal is so much better music than hip hop (lyrically, vocally etc.).
@K3lin You're obviously a dumb teenager, so I'm not even going to waste my time any more talking to you. Grow up a bit. Read about cultures outside your own (including so-called "barbarian" ones). Realize that there is a world outside of your homeland. Realize that the problems that affect other ethnic groups are often traceable to the harmful influence of the "accomplishments" of white people. Learn the difference between facts and beliefs.
@K3lin Also, there's plenty of great hip-hop. It's a different genre with different values from the metal genre. That doesn't make it inferior. Metal music some times has more intellectual lyrics (but often has really silly and inspid lyrics too, just like hip hop), but hip-hop, I believe, is better at conveying a wider range of emotions and beliefs through lyrics (when they are written well), unlike metal, which often leaves no place for vulnerability (and it doesn't surprise me that a
@K3lin a teenage white supremacist/nationalist would gravitate toward that). In the end, though, it's rather futile to compare them. Both have strengths and weaknesses. Metal is undoubtedly the more musically proficient genre, but then, musical complexity was never the point of hip-hop. There's no objective criteria for what music is best. You don't dig hip-hop. I do. You, for some reason, feel the need to attribute your distaste in hip hop to an imaginary racial superiority.
@K3lin How is this an example of white supremacy? Because some French dudes can write good music? So could Miles Davis and John Coltrane. There's also nothing in DSO's lyrics that suggests white supremacy. I'm aware of Mikko's views and the band's views in old interviews, but their current lyrical concepts have nothing to do with white supremacy. In fact one of their main influences is Georges Bataille, who was an anti-fascist and an admirer of "primitive" art.
@K3lin It's also bizarre you should deride hip hop for having "stupid punky" lyrics when almost all early extreme metal, such as Bathory, Hellhammer, Venom, Sodom, Kreator, Sarcofago, Sepultura, etc. had incredibly poorly written and immature lyrics that are far below the power of certain rap lyrics. Incidentally, early extreme metal was also influenced by punk.
Remember people, on the coming months of September to December, there were 2 volcanoes that would erupt in the US, the name of these volcanoes have something to do with faith. This eruption is a trumpet blast from God. Repent now people! Avoid pornography, smoking, cursing, fornication, adultery, immorality, occultism etc. Be holy; do not turn to church for salvation, turn to Christ
As soon as religionites rmove all their nonsense from the public life, we atheistfags will stop complaining. Until then we will call them on their stupidity where we see it
The problem is that the public is religious. Atheists loose ground when they force their opinions on everyone else. Religious people have the freedom of expression, you can't take that away. If they want to put up religious decorations on a religious holiday (Christmas), then who are you to stop them?
The problem is atheists are still the same untermenschen as theists most of the time.
Believe me, I hate Christian logic, my family is Christian, but the problem is people, not their ideology.
The problem is EXACTLY the religious ideology. It only seeks to enslave us and stop us from truly progressing as a species.
Besides that, way to lump all atheists on a single pile. Atheism merely stands for an absence of religious beliefs, it is not an active 'beliefsystem'. It is true though that with the worrying trend of increased religious influence (creationism, religious fundamentalism etc) some atheists have become more vocal in their opposition
I guess you aren't intelligent enough to see the difference between organised religion based on dogma and doctrine on the one hand and individuals who have nothing in common besides the fact they do not believe in a deity. No doctrine, no dogma, no organisation.
i guess you never heard the expression 'atheism is a religion just like not collecting stamps is a hobby'.
And Nietzsche? hahahaha... another tragically clueless blackmetal nerd who cites Nietzsche but hasn't got a clue.
Sounds like the eucharist. In addition to the blood there were chuncks of decaying flesh to get washed down with the blood. This is my decaying putrid body, take, eat in rememberance of me, saith the lord....and this is my blood, drink this and don't forget that i am your god....I love the eucharist. Drinking blood and eating the flesh of a 2000 year old dead jew.
Im probably wrong, but after listening for several years to contemporary serialistic composers I think I recognize some serialbased gestures in their riffs from time to time. Apperently they are aware of the prinicples of composing with different systems and that they know composers like Ligety and Schnittke among others...
@c4bo0s32 Well, the song is in the key of mixolydian satanic satan. That can be played on a standard tuned guitar, but requires more than two hands to play.
So I guess they tune their guitars to open satanic major to play it.
The chord progression at 2:33 hits me so hard, every time I hear it my heart skips a beat. Unbelievable album, its only 22 minutes long but it really is quality over quantity.
Yeah, I totally agree. There are so many moments in this song (hymn, compo-sition, manifestation etc?) that are so beautiful. I read through the text (found on google) while listening. I lost contact with my self, felt very unsettled and uneasy for a long while. It was beutiful and frightening at the same time...maybe it was so beutiful it became frightening? Thanks for uploading, really appreciate it.
