The artistry that Jonathan Cope shows in this rehearsal is absolutely lovely. Notice especially the two gestures of his pulling Darcey's head back to him (around 1:33-38). He tenderly places his face against hers. I have not seen such delicate attention in any of the Sylvia pas de deux excerpts that are on YouTube! Well done Mr. Cope!

I adore Jonathan Cope - he was so elegant and understated, such a sensitive partner. And those legs! I'm not a big Darcey fan but Cope made her look good when they were together.

Jonathan is always so articulate, with a terrific sense of humor. From what i've read he made Alexandra Ansanelli, and her quintessentially 'American' sense of speed and precision, feel right at home when she arrived at the Royal.
