  • ive heard a very similar song called lady margaret

  • so pure.

  • This is but one part of American music history. To those of other countries, please remember America is made of different races, and each one has it's own musical history. Native American's are of course the Original Americans, and they have their music and oral history that is often forgotten and neglected by the white man..but it is still there. So to the Latin & Spanish races, the Negro race, and the French & Irish. This is what makes the USA so musically rich..it's eclectic racial tapestry.

  • someone please tell me what key she is singing in. thank you

  • I wish u hear those songs more often

  • True American music in being imported during the 1700's from the Scottish Highlands and Celtic regions and made our own when mixed with southern blues, jazz, on into rock and roll, etc. It is so wonderful, the magic of music and creativity with free expression by talented artists who pass the light to others.

  • Beautiful...and cute how redhead smiled when camera passed by...

  • The most beautiful songs and singers in the history of the folk music in USA

  • @vekka220 Grow up.

  • ozzy osbourne?

  • Like if you clicked because you thought it was an Ozzy video

  • Nice singing :) great melody

  • man thats sad.

  • @NinkasiDelight I agree. Almost made me cry. Why are the children's songs always awfully sad?

  • @CaptainSpellingError These songs are often sad, because of the harsh lives the people who wrote them lived.

  • From the thumbnail I thought this was Ozzy.

  • People need these old ballads but they don't know it till they hear 'em. Then they want to sing 'em. I know I do. You never really forget a great ballad singer or their song. But if they ever get popular that will be the end of 'em 'cause some madison avenue type will inject them will commercial poison. Let's just enjoy what we've got and be thankful!

  • Amazing. There is something so wrenchingly beautiful about southern folk music.

  • beautifully sung, beautifully captured.

  • And this is true folk music, passed from generation to generation. I love it!

  • redheaded child

  • Shes sounds like she's Was touched by an elephant

  • This is beautiful. My favorite stumble ever, don't know what made me click but i'm so glad I did.

  • awesome!

  • Does this woman remind anyone else of Tula from big fat Greek wedding?

  • Quite beatiful.

  • similar to Matty Groves, that.

  • its a little bit boring or not...hä

  • Hauntingly beautiful.

  • I've never heard a prettier version of this song.

  • Sheila's still alive and singing.

  • God bless the people who keep our heritage alive. The singers and those who record them, I hope there's someone out there walking in Mr. Lomax's footsteps today, though I fear there isn't.

  • I can't stop watching this. Such a great ballad and a wonderful performance.

  • I'm so in love with all of this...

  • Superb.

  • I love this recording...I was born in 1982, it's one of my favorite ballads that i've learned over the years as Sheila's son, and one that I always try to perform when given the opportunity on stage with my mom. One minor correction, however, Adams is in fact Sheila's maiden name. Regardless, thanks so much for posting this beautiful glimpse into the past. Best regards ~

  • Sheila kae has become one of my friends at the east TN story telling festable

  • Now that's music. Grateful hanks to all the people who are working to keep these old songs alive.

  • "Little Margaret" is Child ballad 74, Sharp number 17. Search Wikipedia for "Wallin Family" to get more information on the singers of Madison County, NC.
