  • If a group ever had to follow Radiohead, they should just cut to the chase and take a big shit in the middle of the stage

  • this version is unreal

  • Never really liked this song, then I heard this version...

  • 1:13

  • They should be ringing....This is the gloaming

  • DAT BASS

  • This version is such a masterpiece

  • It's too bad the little bass riff after "this is the gloaming" isn't in the studio version...

  • my personal fav of all their stuff, the structure of this song is pure genius

  • Thom is getting crazier by the years. but i still like him

  • "your alarm bells your alarm bells...they should be ringing" *shivers and goosebumps*

  • that bassline... just sick

  • Song is simply amazing

  • in my opinion the bends is thier best album because every single track is a masterpeice (bullet proof....i wish i was is the best track) and also because its very centimental to me since i bought that album in a very intense part of my life

but kid a and HTTT are sooo much more artistic and atmospheric

  • the next album will be their best ever. in rainbows is lovely, but gimme a mix of in rainbows with the intimate intellect and darkness of amnesiac/kid a. i just see thoms continued electronic development infused with the radiohead band members producing nothing short of brilliant for the 8th album

  • From the basement version is far far better...

  • hail to the thief is my favorite album...

  • Hail To The Thief is horribly underrated. It's on par with Ok Computer and the Bends as second best album(In Rainbows is best, imo)

  • @muslimraver i agree with u in that HTTT is a great album and that rainbows is probs the best (so far, new album soon :D) but would have to say that amnesiac and Kid A are better then the bends imo

  • @theParanoidification I love Kid A and Amnesiac, it's Just and Fake Plastic(particularly when played live at Saitama) that push The Bends above for me. To be honest though, is there really much in any of the albums?

  • For some reason, Thom's dancing makes me want to give him a hug.

  • Ya I just downloaded this mp3 at soundnabber..com

  • 2:08-2:47 one of the best parts of the life

  • Close your eyes and listen this master piece...

i have just tested it and i'm feeling weird

    I LOVE THE ENDING

  • Found the part that completed my life....

    2:50-3:24

  • This is amazing.

I just love how I cannot even understand how they play their songs live, that just adds up to the excitement!

The sick bass-line, Thom's vocals and the jazzy ending.

What more can a human being possibly wish for?!

  • This and There There were the two best at this concert, I think. And Just.

  • this song rocks live even more than idioteque!

  • i fucking love when the drums and bass comes in!!! this song fucking rocks!

  • I LOVE Thoms dancing :D

  • i love how he gets into the music... with his dancing... just amazing .. I LOVE Radiohead

  • This is much better than the album version. I love that too but it's way better.

  • they should be ringing they should be ringing they should be ringing <3

  • Ian Curtis' soul got into him, and that's the most fucking awsome thing that could happen.

  • fuckin awasome

  • one of my all time favorite songs! :D

  • looks like thoms not wearing any trousers

  • @1mrgeee yea he's got red legs...

  • @xartoniable you never know

  • very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very cool thanxxxx

  • the lights are perfect in this song

  • bah youtube just can't do it justice

  • Is it me, or does Ed's backing vocals at 1:30 sound remarkably similer to the opening seconds of the Stones' "Gimme Shelter"?

  • xhindi doli jashte nga shishja

ka ardh tash kohe e shtrigave......

  • disturbing yet so beautiful

  • Genius! They are so fuckin amazing live :D

  • superb ending

  • Probably the best decisiona I made in 2008 was shelling out $200.00 for a Radiohead ticket.

  • wish i had that much money to go spend on concerts.

did you go to this one?

    btw username is win lol

  • WTF. this is damm good. first time listening to it, and i m hooked.

  • try finding the extended version, it is out of this world!! i dnt remember what album it's in but it is not the one in hail to the thief

  • I believe it's on the Rough Mixes of HTTT that leaked before the actual album. The rough mixed version of The Gloaming I have is much longer and repeats "This is the gloaming" a couple of times.

  • @10je10 have you got it? could you send it?

  • this kind of music makes me spas out in a good way.

  • same. everytime i think about this song i think about thom's yorke funny dance

  • Oh my goodness... If a person from another planet asked me what art was, I would show them this. Fantastic!

  • i love the bass line with beats, i realised how good this actually when i was on their concert, same tour and it was fucking amazing.

  • I like how much this song, seems to be Colin's in a way ;)

  • yeah... he starts it with the keyboard... and well, the song has a very strong bass line, so... yeah, it's Collinn's song =)

  • If you haven't seen this track live, you wont understand how good it actually sounds.

  • I heard the song and didn't like it at all, then I watched it live and now I sing along and just love it

  • uNDERGROUND!

  • I don't think I've seen any live attempt at this track besides From The Basement in which Thom doesn't sound like shit. That alone makes me prefer the album version over live.

Musically, I love both versions. The studio has a bit of a tribal feel, especially in the final quarter of the song. The live version is altered by adding a bit of a jazz breakdown in the choruses, which is equally good. I don't see why people hate this song so much, when there's tracks on there that are much worse.

  • He sounds great in most versions

  • cydonia170....ever heard of this phrase...to each his own. i don't love all the songs radiohead does, but i appreciate their originality.

  • You're full of shit. The album version is horrid but the live version is awesome. Obviously you have never been to a concert where they have played the gloaming. I do agree that it could have been a B-side.

  • I never really paid attention to this song til I saw it live. Now I always think of the raining lights when Thom says "it should be raining"

  • he says (your alarm bells) they should be ringing.

  • Until I saw it live, I thought it was boring too.

    But live it's fucking awesome.

  • i though the same at "there there" it is awesooome

  • I've also thought that this song was boring until i saw it live in chile.. know i think completely diferent !

  • wow.. thom dancing is the shit!

  • kickass bass! love this version, makes me dance immediately

  • what a silly live touch. this song blew me away at chicago lollapalooza. different indded from the album version.

  • he just sang it a little different so he could creep out all the asians XD

  • hahahaa

  • totally man!

  • I didn't care much for this song on the album but when I saw them and the part at 1:20 came up I was ready to sell my soul to see it again.

  • I seconds that!

  • can't get any better than 3:17

  • They shocked the hell out of me when they pulled this out....

  • they need to take this version into the studio

  • I've never been fond of this song, but when its played live, there something which draws me too it, and ive no idea what it is.

  • even radiohead themselves dont like the album version as much as when they do it live. they change it up and jazz it up live with a lot of loops. live is better

  • that live bass line during just blows it all

  • I can understand that but I'm the opposite way, I wasn't a huge fan of the album version but when I saw this show live (well not this one, but same tour) I was blown away by it. I was lucky (and later broke) enough to see them in nyc and chicago and they did it a bit different each time. I guess its an experimental song live.

  • me too it was fuckin aawesome live!!! :D

  • It's definitely the added part that isn't in the studio version. That makes the song infinitely better. The opposite is true for Fog. When they take everything out except Thom and piano, that song is epic.

  • I had the same feeling with Myxomatosis, sounds and looks absolutely amazing in live.

  • I actually like the studio version the way it is because it leaves so much more for the live versions.

  • hay se ve la calidad vocal de thom, lo que le pongan detras sea un desastre o una gran melodia , canta bien igual

  • There are like a whole gigs worth of these?

    Thats my morning set out.

  • Haha my reaction too!

  • incredible HD vid definitely

  • thom dancing + HD = win

  • Real nice performance. What's that hes says at the end?

  • he says murderers. go look up the lyrics.

  • album version is good, only if you hear it with headphones, or with a good stereo, not for pc. that happens also with myxomatosis

  • this by far a tour highlight. i love this song live, the album version is kinda crap

  • thom has stated in an interview that after they recorded HTTT, he hated it. He went on to say that he loves performing the songs live because it gives him a chance to revisit them (and i would add, give him a chance to play the songs with his current age/emotions rather than what's stuck on the records/CDs for an eternity).

  • @thelilbearbeeny They should remake their favourite songs and put it onto an album. :)

  • @thelilbearbeeny It has a lot to do with how quickly they recorded the album too. I think it's still a good record, but pretty much all the songs are 10x better live. That's just a testament to their skill though, I think. This was definitely a highlight when I saw them.

  • @poeisi Seriously? I love the album version. Its so groovy. Just how all the layers work together. Its amazing. This is great too. I love the bass groove

  • I love the lights effect: it's like it was raining green !

  • AWESOME! Thanks for putting this up :)
