I'm sure they used Mova Contour to do the transformation. Sad that those guys are never mentioned. Even the nice Steve Preeg did'nt say a word about it
I have just watched this movie and was sure it was make-up. i think everyone was which is probably why it won the Oscar for best make-up. But it also won for best visual effects. Fantastic. Anything is now possible in movies. Bringing actors back to life, making them younger older. Any world than can be imagined.
TIMELINE: 1918 Benjamin is born at age 86 // 1923 Daisy is born // 1925 Benjamin goes to Church and gets up from his wheelchair and begins walking unaided, Benjamin 79, Daisy 2 // 1930 Benjamin walks with only one cane and meets Daisy for the first time, Benjamin 74, Daisy 7 // 1935 Benjamin leaves his mother's house and heads off to sea, Benjamin 69, Daisy age 12 // 1941 Benjamin has relationship with married woman in Russia, Benjamin 63, Daisy 18
1945 Benjamin returns home after World War II, Benjamin 59, Daisy 22 // 1947 Benjamin meets with his father one last time and the latter passes away, Benjamin 57, Daisy 24 // 1951 Benjamin surprises Daisy at New York where she has fallen in love with another man, Benjamin 53, Daisy 28 // 1957 Benjamin visits Daisy at the hospital after she broke her leg in a car accident, Benjamin 47, Daisy 34 // 1962 Daisy meets Benjamin at his mothers home and they make passionate love, Benjamin 42, Daisy 39

exactly what i thought!! I thought it was a mold over a guy or kids head! lol wow!! and that maybe that had a little to do with animating it.. but a full CGI head... that was convincing!
O.o crap,I new it was cgi but dAng!!He wasnt even there!I just thought they put the playdough stuff over his real face and then added cgi to make it look more real!XD I learn new stuff everyday.
@ cibolahighschool: Where the hell did you get those numbers? I'd say there were about 6-7 characters whose deaths were mentioned. Sorry, but you're a moron (at least I didn't say "no offense" ;D). The person who originally thought of this was totally thinking outside the box. What would it be like if you grew younger rather than older? That. Was. The. Point. Idiot.
I personally love this movie. LOVE IT. It was repetitive, but the awesome kind of repetitive where everything is significant.
I liked this movie, specially the makeup done on the actors. My only complaint is that the movie was too long at 2 hours 40 minutes when I believed it could have been made in 2. I would have liked Benjamin to research his condition, maybe in an attempt to reverse it or maybe stop it. Why did Benjamin never get curious to why he was born old and aged backwards? How come nobody went crazy over that and raised some questions? How come only Daisy and Benjamin's mom noticed he was getting younger?
I always thought they had brad do thet parts and replaced the body with a kid's. But it's actually the other way around and also not brad's head at all lol. Great job!
i thought it was computer generated too....they used to use the term "cgi" allot wich stood for computer generated images, but i suppose things have changed
holy shit....this is the first time ever to my knowlege that i have watched something and not been aware of its CGI-ness. god damn...i dont know myself anymore!
impressive. I do CG and I like to think I'm fairly tuned to things that can look fake about it and I never suspected it was anything other than a makeup job on brad pitt. very good.
that said I only flipped through the movie because it was quite clear it was a very bad movie. I get the idea but there's no getting around that it's that nasty opera emperor's new clothes kind of gay worthless.
bring the effects to James Cameron instead and get his prematurely retired ass in gear again
Have you actually seen the movie? Some parts you can notice it's animated, but otherwise they did a really good job, and you couldn't have done this movie without it.
i kinda almost didnt know they were there, digitally speaking :)....it'd be nice to see a good movie with a good script, where the digitial effects were supposed to be recognized, where they could just let their digital freak flag fly. like an enhancement of the imagination of the character. im sure i can think of a lot of examples where thats already happened, but not on the scale im thinking of. im just saying, they should be able to not have their goal to be "invisible" for a change.
I watched a video with David Fincher where he said he was working with the same team who did "such a great job" with Zodiac.
I was quite surprised when he said this as I thought zodiac had very little cgi but after watching a cgi video on here about zodiac an unbelievable amount of the film was shot in-studio with a blue screen.
Just goes to show that if you do an unbelievable job the majority of people watching don't even acknowledge it.

The makeup is good, but how about all the TV quality CGI in the rest of the movie? It would have really hurt the film if the script didn't really fucking suck.

I knew the old character of Brad Pitt is CGI but only on the body with a real Brad Pitt head with make-up placed on top of the body. So, the body is that of a real person with a CGI head, that's interesting.
I have to agree, the movie was visually stunning, had excellent cinematography and great acting, but the script itself was a huge let down. So much more could have been done with the same group of talent if only the scriptwriters had made a more interesting story. It failed to live up to its potential.
It didn't fail, the screenplay was adapted from F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and everything was meant to be the way it is. It's actually a very good adaption by Eric Roth and he's up for an Oscar Nomination.
Well, job well done. I didn't know til I saw it won Best visual effects multiple time and I kept wondering "Why?!"

I just saw it last night. And all its about is Death and Old People.
Everyone has to die(atleast 30 people have died in the movie),
And everyone(about 60%) have to be like 80 yr. old people.
*And in the very end, I didn't get the point of it.
