  • Well, job well done. I didn't know til I saw it won Best visual effects multiple time and I kept wondering "Why?!"

  • I'm sure they used Mova Contour to do the transformation. Sad that those guys are never mentioned. Even the nice Steve Preeg did'nt say a word about it

  • amazing...wow...

  • I have just watched this movie and was sure it was make-up. i think everyone was which is probably why it won the Oscar for best make-up. But it also won for best visual effects. Fantastic. Anything is now possible in movies. Bringing actors back to life, making them younger older. Any world than can be imagined.

  • i saw this movie....it pretty nice and weird to see a human begining his life from old to young....

    Amazing!

  • amazing special effects in this movie

  • OMG

  • that was a CGI! DANG LOOKED SO REAL

  • exactly what i thought!! I thought it was a mold over a guy or kids head! lol wow!! and that maybe that had a little to do with animating it.. but a full CGI head... that was convincing!

  • wow awesome Job!!!!

  • great job !!!!!!!!!! love the movie !!!!!

  • O.o crap,I new it was cgi but dAng!!He wasnt even there!I just thought they put the playdough stuff over his real face and then added cgi to make it look more real!XD I learn new stuff everyday.

  • @ cibolahighschool: Where the hell did you get those numbers? I'd say there were about 6-7 characters whose deaths were mentioned. Sorry, but you're a moron (at least I didn't say "no offense" ;D). The person who originally thought of this was totally thinking outside the box. What would it be like if you grew younger rather than older? That. Was. The. Point. Idiot.

I personally love this movie. LOVE IT. It was repetitive, but the awesome kind of repetitive where everything is significant.

  • I realized it was cgi, when Benjamin was on the trolly with his pigmea friend, which was about 1hr into the movie. maybe?

  • it saw bratts face was made by a computer, but it didn't bother me at all! great movie

  • I always thought they had brad do thet parts and replaced the body with a kid's. But it's actually the other way around and also not brad's head at all lol. Great job!

  • dis poopy

  • one of the best movie and creative movie i ever saw u guys agree with me?

  • hmmm I just rented it tonight

  • i knew it was computer generated

  • wow,i thought it was real,i thought it was just a kid in a mascot.lol

  • awesome

  • Wow i had no idea it was CG

  • What does CG stand for?

  • Computer Generated.

  • Computer Graphics actually but it's just details.

  • i thought it was computer generated too....they used to use the term "cgi" allot wich stood for computer generated images, but i suppose things have changed

  • I loved this movie!!!

  • impressive.

  • holy shit....this is the first time ever to my knowlege that i have watched something and not been aware of its CGI-ness. god damn...i dont know myself anymore!

  • HOly Crap. I just thought they found a different actor and later used brad in makeup. Never thought it was CGI. Holy Crap

  • @Xanadu987654321 - Couldn't visually tell it was CGI, but instinctively I knew it had to be.

  • "Just one more reason I have no interest in paying to see this Forrest Gump remake. Gump was bad enough and now we get it with CGI."

Who the fuck doesn't like Forrest Gump? It's near perfect.

  • Forrest Gump is the bee's knees.

  • Yeah, I agree, only some small parts looked animated, but it was fantastic. The rest was perfect and realistic.

The movie was long, but sweet and interesting. Brad did a great job. He is a darling

  • wow...

  • I really thought that was Brad. Amazing!

  • impressive. I do CG and I like to think I'm fairly tuned to things that can look fake about it and I never suspected it was anything other than a makeup job on brad pitt. very good.

that said I only flipped through the movie because it was quite clear it was a very bad movie. I get the idea but there's no getting around that it's that nasty opera emperor's new clothes kind of gay worthless.

bring the effects to James Cameron instead and get his prematurely retired ass in gear again

  • ' get the idea but there's no getting around that it's that nasty opera emperor's new clothes kind of gay worthless'

This made no sense whatsoever. Apart from the blatant homophobia, can you explain what you mean?

I thought it was a nice film. That's as much as i can really say. It was nice.

  • good work greaaat! I loved the film and I thank you for doing so though! your work now is much appreciated!!

  • amazing visual.

love it and really appreciate it

  • m glad ccbb got oscar for the effects....they deserve it

  • hey man..are you in cahoots wit da man?..me I'm free ya dig?

  • i thought brad pitt did an extreme diet.. good job for special effect team

  • I really got fooled the first time I saw the movie. Incredible effects.

  • i 2!!

  • don't worry ! we appreciate your work!

  • Have you actually seen the movie? Some parts you can notice it's animated, but otherwise they did a really good job, and you couldn't have done this movie without it.

  • Un film trpo émouvant !!!!!

  • i kinda almost didnt know they were there, digitally speaking :)....it'd be nice to see a good movie with a good script, where the digitial effects were supposed to be recognized, where they could just let their digital freak flag fly. like an enhancement of the imagination of the character. im sure i can think of a lot of examples where thats already happened, but not on the scale im thinking of. im just saying, they should be able to not have their goal to be "invisible" for a change.

  • a very valid point !

  • great effects. If only there was a script, some characters and a story, this could be a great movie.

  • true... vfx is amazing... but the ending..and different hair colors...lke 5-6 of m...suxxx :P

  • WOW! amazing effects !

  • Great Job man!

    and great movie too.

  • Great effects, I watched it last night. was even MORE impressed by the young Benjamin.

    Definately a "Bradophile" movie!

  • I watched a video with David Fincher where he said he was working with the same team who did "such a great job" with Zodiac.

I was quite surprised when he said this as I thought zodiac had very little cgi but after watching a cgi video on here about zodiac an unbelievable amount of the film was shot in-studio with a blue screen.

Just goes to show that if you do an unbelievable job the majority of people watching don't even acknowledge it.

  • WOW. i thought that the old benjamin was played by a different actor...

  • Me too...

    Amazing...

  • very nice video :D

  • I didn't even notice it- i thought it looked and acted like Pitt, but his body kept changing

amazing effects- makes me wonder how long it'll be before they do away with actors altogether...

  • done very well in cinema even never noticed it was CGI damn..thaught it was pit with makeup

  • does anyone know what hte music is at the bg and end??? pleeeeaase!! :o) cheers ears

  • well, i didn't know you were there!!!

  • whats the music in this? at the end. so cooool

  • I enjoyed this and the CGI and makeup effects were so seamless that I was concentrating on the story only. I hope there's more of this 'how they did that' on the VD extras! I'm fascinated!

  • I noticed with on first sight

  • I knew the old character of Brad Pitt is CGI but only on the body with a real Brad Pitt head with make-up placed on top of the body. So, the body is that of a real person with a CGI head, that's interesting.

  • Loved it!!! The video was fun and it was pretty informative. Its awesome how the video is high quality!

  • That's crazy. I thought it was old age make up. Damn,

  • i confess, i had no idea cgi was involved

  • amazing effects.

  • Just one more reason I have no interest in paying to see this Forrest Gump remake. Gump was bad enough and now we get it with CGI.

  • The acclaim this picture is receiving baffles me - much ado about very little.

  • as for steve's hope for us not to notice the effects, i sure do hope the guys from the academy awards realize what stunning work they'e just seen..

they just have to win this!

  • They notice - Button was nominated for an Oscar for Achievement in Visual Effects

  • i know it was nominated, but that doesn't make it a winner yet.

    still, i hope you're right =)

  • Good job Lee! What, no punch-line?

  • Amazing visual effects. Too bad the rest of the movie was such a disappointment.

  • I have to agree, the movie was visually stunning, had excellent cinematography and great acting, but the script itself was a huge let down. So much more could have been done with the same group of talent if only the scriptwriters had made a more interesting story. It failed to live up to its potential.

  • It didn't fail, the screenplay was adapted from F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and everything was meant to be the way it is. It's actually a very good adaption by Eric Roth and he's up for an Oscar Nomination.

  • Thanks for this insight into the magic behind the magic.
