@mainestategop these things are relative, comparisons difficult. Saddam Hussein and Gaddaffi, it's been suggested, were generous liberals in comparison to their forebears and geographic contemporaries. The Army in Wellington's time was a mass of murderers, criminals, liars and thieves, as was the French Army. Hard men, inured to violence and used to the lash. A rum lot compared to modern example. Here we are though, still grappling with the same ideological clash.
