Direct injection 2 Strokes creates a 4-stroke power band. For most people that is better. But like I many people like that hit. With Direction injection you can have different power curves. It is possible to make a power band that is narrower…than a current carborator2-stroke. Aprilia made a direct injection RS250 and did this. They had easy power curves like a 4 stroke, aggressive curves, and curves that emulated carb 2-strokes with that very hard hit harder hitting than today’s. THUMBS UP!
@Axxisss Dude, the new bikes lap the tracks in a shorter time, so the average speed is faster. They also have a greater top speed. The fastest speed I ever saw a 500 do was when Shinichi Ito's Honda hit 322 kph at Hockenheim. The new bikes are faster than this. The 990 Ducati hit over 340 km/h at Mugello a few years back and Dani Pedrosa's Honda has also seen 340+ km/h.They are also less vicious and perhaps a little easier to ride than the old 500s. I sure do miss those bikes man. Peace..
this bikes are monsters of acceleration . the riders had huge problems of highsiding in almost every exit of a corner and they had to keep the bike on two weels when accelerating cause it was making wheelies from power acceleration and this is a waste of time . the bike had so much power but it was going wasted
Great bikes, great talent. It's wrong to compare the riders of today with those of yesteryear. If the guys of today grew up with those type of bikes, they would have been able to ride them the same way as well. All these guys have massive talent, just like the older fellows. I have to admit though, that the 500cc 2 strokes were a hell of a lot more vicious than the 4 strokes today, even though the new bikes are much faster.
Elbow? ha! I had every surface of my body, from the top of my helmet to the BACK of my knee down............'course I didn't ride again for 12 years. But that's really here nor there.
Ed never looked like he was going fast, but then you look up and the Fucker has won 4 world titles. He was a genius when it came to setting a bike up as well.Look at the Yamahas of the mid 80's compared to the Hondas set up by Gardner. That NSR was a beast.Only bike that ever looked at you as if you owed it money..Ed gets on it and wins the title.Looks over at Gardner and says"Bam!,that just happened".
I wouldn't worry. I think the fact that Japan have won what, 35 of the last 36 top class championships? Says much. The fact that Cagiva are currently owned by Harley Davidson pretty much finishes that picture.
eddie lawson, one of the best, shame he went back home as a shadow in his homeland, these are real racebikes, not like today, as the best of them all says "When i first get on the 500, fuck!" Valentino Rossi
Eddie Lawson était l'un des plus grands, avec une délicatesse et une gentillesse exceptionelle, dommage qu'il n'ais pas sa place dans le coeur des motards, c'était un seigneur !
