  • Does anyone know, what Bass Guitar Sting is playing on this Video?

  • @artfxl5 Fender P-Bass

  • told you once i won't tell you again, i won't share you with another boy ...

told you once i won't tell you again, i won't share you with another man...

    what's going on here?

  • Kickass drumming......

  • This is how would Chuck Norris sound if he got into music business

  • Comment removed

  • Fabulous fabulous version.

    When he whispers at 3:14

    "Faints"

    THANK YOU for posting x

  • playing the drinking game to the live version is so much more hardcore

  • i love how they always change up there improv for roxanne and so lonely and message in a bottle

  • I love this version of roxanne... Thats what makes them so good, they play their songs so many different ways... amazing band....

  • Best drummer EVER!! My fav band!!

  • aaaahhhhh its'thier joint they can do their thang.......

  • TVE=Spanish tv

  • KICK ASS SONG. I'VE ALWAYS LOVED IT

  • reminds me of Radio Montevideo in 1982

  • wow Stewart is really the best!

  • I first saw this concert on the Nickelodeon channel in the Fall of 1981.... I kid you not..... I was 13 years old, almost 14....... My FAVRORITE BAND SINCE MAY, 1981......

  • hahahahaahaha stewart's drumstick flies of his hand nearthe endd xDDD

  • this song was sampled..."what means the world to me" by Camron

  • This was before the octobans and stewart was playing a fatback snare this must be late 1978 or early early Jan 1979

  • yeah, this was Jan 18 1979. if you type rogiers police page' into google it gives you a site that includes all the old tour info

  • I used to lisent this song in my mother belly and now I know what I love this song is great!!!

  • never mind the audience - the atmosphere was still f*ing great there!!!

  • I've got some 250 bootlegs from the Police live and this surely is the best version of Roxanne I've ever heard

  • what are the best sites to download live police bootlegs??

  • Few bands ever used wide dynamics, jammed some shit, and kept the beat. And yeah, this audience is sitting like a bunch of lumps.

  • Amazing!!!!!

  • GREAAATTTTTTTTTT!

  • This band has something of magic, the combination of 3 musicians was amazing.

  • @Flinh02 I have been a Police fan since I was 11 in 1982. I also found them magical in their playing. What I found out, was that when they were playing with each other, they were actually playing against each other, trying to outdo each other, while still playing "together". That is the secret to the Police's energy. They were actually competing with each other. Listen to their playing and hear for yourself. Please do your own research in the validity of my post. The Police forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mandaladouble Yes, I think of the same thing as you. I am a fan of this group and I find that they didn't make the same job as the other artists .And you are right, they were in rivalry some counter the others but together, they wanted each to be more successful than the other one. Thanks to you, I understood the police force.

  • they never cease to amaze - anyone can be in a band but these guys are true musicians

  • alot of drummers feed of approval from the frontman. its how they interact. all it takes is one look.

  • wtf is up with the audience?!

are they paralyzed or just astonished at how amazing the performance is.. i mean srsly if i were there i'de be going crazy!! I love the police!! ^_^

  • WOW 2:05 Stuart is so feeding off of Stings approval..as if he needs it...He's such a succer for attention...makes him great at what he does...

  • Most excellent observation, uhoh38125. The dynamics between these guys both on and off the stage are legendary. :D

  • the best live version of roxanne

the worst audience for any version of roxanne , they look like they are waiting for the disco music to start ?

  • You must be joking.

Without the 'put on the red light' this is FAR from being the best version of anything.

Stings lazy, he had 2 backing singers,so wheres the problem.

    Tantric indolence!

  • the crowd should be havin a ogsm or atleast lick stings feet!

  • who is roxanne?

  • I heard she was a prostitute

  • If I remember correctly, I think Sting wrote this song about some prostitutes that he saw somewhere in France (I think). The name Roxanne he took from Cyrano de Bergerac, I believe.

  • The Police Live at Beat Club. I ve seen entire concert on VH1 some years ago, so there must be at least a TV video tape of this event.

  • i saw the same show also on VH1

i remember this song and One World not 3 was also great

  • taking from a musikladen "extra" 18-1-1979.i notice the audiences at any musikladen clips ive seen are always sitting back relaxed having a bottle or two of beer, perhaps to much beer,.

  • Interesting version! .. fuck this crowd, are they def????

  • yeaaaaah

  • great band, great sound, they better re-union

  • Love the bass sound..pure Sting ! ;)

  • fantastic version. was it ever released on CD/DVD or is this just a rip from TV/VHS?

  • Tight performance from a Trio Band.

  • words can not describe how amazing they are

    =D

  • What does Sting say to Stewart at 32 seconds. I think he says slower, but I'm not sure.

  • if it's 'slower', stewart didn't listen

  • This concert played in Beat Club Performance,in 1978!

  • ;D

    I FUCKN LOVE THE POLICE.

    They're amazing live.

I saw them perform in las vegas.

    favouritesong<3

  • when in Vegas, may 23rd? That's when I went! Best night of my life!!

  • TVE is the Spanish public television... was this concert in spain or what?

  • 6:47 - oh dear Stewart...

    but man, amazing anyway!

  • very very good singer....... lookslike he is a good man too....

  • Amazing live! :)

  • Sting plays with Ampeg 8x10 cab - SVT head. But that thoump he gets is by using his hans to damen down the note, watch his right hand.

  • @zpage yea and how the fuk does he do that

  • bloody brilliant.this is no manufactured shite!!!what you see is what you get!!love the little jam bout half way through..the police at the best i think in their early days.they could certainly play.andy summers little licks!!stewart copelands drumming is awesome.stings bass lines are simple but effective coupled with his voice..electric!!how did he get that sound on his bass??

  • Good rhythm and jamming wrapped around with ska...Unforgetable and divine. So joyfull sounds!!!!!!!Best regards everyone from Marko, Serbia!

  • That drummer is so generous and talented.

  • andy is not a good singer, however I feel that what stewart and andy do in the police, is something sting would not be able to do if he worked alone.

  • totally agree. Today I was messing around with some of their songs, and when I took Stewart Copeland's drum lines out of them, it felt so empty. SOOO empty.

  • rooooooxanne......

  • EPIC SONG, love it!

  • Ithink the Police and Rush are the best trios, but because Sting did most of the backround vocals on the albums,Andy and Stewart had to 'fill in' on the live shows-but that s what makes the police the best

  • Andy Summers is a terrible singer, I does work well..but it was just bad singing on his part.

Espically love the little jam at 1:56

    Thumbs Up

  • gees give him a break.... it's cool, sounds fine to me it's rock and roll... and very english!.. he's a helluva guitarist and that's more than enough

  • *Hey if you guys take a second look , the drummer's DrumStick flew out of his right hand @ 6:47 played with only one for about 3 seconds YET HE WAS ABLE TO GO ALONG WITH THE SONG . . . that is what great * musician should alwayd do go along with the show Great video *****

  • any decent drummer could lose a stick and carry on playing, especially seeing as it was the right stick and all he had to do was play tom and snare with the left hand. no big deal.

  • WOW

  • good lord stings voice is amazing but the harmony isnt lol

  • lol stewart copeland looks so young yet he's a great drummer

  • well he was 26 at the time so that may have somethin to do with it...

  • Stewart!! Love!

  • very very good..except the background singing lol..stings voice is amazing though

  • probably one of the best version of this song I have ever seen!

  • Musikladen 18-1-79

  • I based my rating on how much I like this song.

It got 5 stars out of me. ;)

  • Do you have the whole concert of this because I can only find this and So Lonely.

  • crazy better when its not live

  • Stiiiing *_*

  • sexy performance woooooo!!!

  • thanks

  • "I like it stewart" I agree with that sting:P

  • hells ya RAXSANE OH thats awsome bob marley wouldbe prourd

  • jje la telivision española!! jeje q temazo

  • very good version live! thanks

  • I think this is the beat club version!!

  • this sounded kind of jazzy in the middle and then goes back

  • This is my favorite version of Roxanne I have ever heard or seen. The jam session is so good and this is when this band was at its rawest form. I love it. One of my favorite bands of all time.

  • It's sad to see how they're a shadow of their former self now right ?

damn that was the good time of the frickin police and reggae rock at its finest

  • Too good to be true... I love it how Stewart drops his stick right at the end and he just keeps going

  • This is when the police were at thier very best in my opinion. Raw energy.

  • this is live on musikladen, 79 i think

  • when is this song performed?¿

  • This is the bollocks! wicked
