what a great idea! bet you could do this in knit too. lots of really cool crochet and knit stitches to try. i will plan mine out carefully. wouldn't fun fur be cool around the face?
Well I made my first big crochet project being a gift to myself. This scoodie of course! I used ultra alpaca yarn(50% alpaca, 50% wool) and I love it! The "mistake" you refer to in extending the hood part makes it look more...textured I guess would be the word but love it all the same. Thanks for the video tutorial. I look forward to my next project. BTW, I have learned how to crochet in the 6th grade and haven't done much of it since. Now I can't stop! :0)
@TOOCHOCLATE50 I used 2 strands to make my scoodie, but i did the demo at the start for the scarf with 1 strand to make it easier to see , sorry for the confussion
I'm working on my scoodie hood now using a single crochet. Do I need to do a half double crochet when I attach them together or can I do the single crochet and then the slip stitch for the back piece?
Very nice pattern! I'm going to give it a try. And, I know if was a mistake, but I really like the look of the hood with that border, so I will be making the same mistake on purpose! :)
Love this video. I saw a scoodie few years back and asked my mum if she could knit me one, but it never happened. I´ve now got into crochet I followed your video instructions and made one myself. I actually prefer the look of the hood with the correction/front section added on, so I left mine a bit small at the front and added on an extra colour. It turned out a bit bulky, but nice and warm. I also added a small pocket on one end of the scarf.
I love it! it looks awsome, It will be a great Christmas gift for my fiance thank you for sharing :) i shall let you know how it goes if there is any more stuff you cochet please share thank you :)
wow! what a great idea! my youngest has special needs & hates wearing a hat so this is perfect for her. i have made one this weekend & love it =) Thank you for the fab tutorials, following these have renewed my love for crochet xxxx
Could you not start from top to bottom too? I ask because I started a baby blanket (my first project) and I chose a yarn that's too rough for baby blanket, but it makes a good hood, but i need to take out some length and add some "scarf" haha >.<
@bobwilson123 instead of avoiding the "witch look" could you make it longer so that it droops down the back of the scoodie for a more fashionable look?
I loved it! you inspired me to make 2beanies and a matching scarf. I didn't think I could. so I will try this one. q: I've hot 744 yards of yarn(super saver pack) will that be enough for all or just the scarf? how many rolls did you go through, also I will only use single strand of yarn. thanks
@kwistiny Sorry I can not remember the amount of yardage i used but i do know that i used 4 x 50gm balls. I used 2 at once. At a guess i would say that each of the balls was 150m in lengh..
@bobwilson123 Anyway, When I made this last night and put it on the edges kinda did a ruffle thing the edges aren't making an oval like yours did. What might I have done wrong?
Great video! I loved all the commentary lol ;-) Can't wait to make my scoodie! I bought some bulky yarn, but I'm thinking it will make the project way too bulky if I go for the ribbed effect. We'll see. Thanks so much!!! :-)
@SingDea Im sorry but i was thinking about my relply and i dont think that would work out,,,becasue the ends of the row once sewn together is actually the front of the hood not the back :( I dont know how to make it rounded :(
@johnnyd19851024 Hi, Im sorry i cant remember i gave it to a friend. But it wa the height of my head..from my chin to the top pf the head..is you just tempory stitch it together and if it is too short you can undo it and add some rows :)
Nice to put a face to the voice, your videos are so helpful and easy to follow, you make it easy... cause you explain properly and are a great tutor. thanks. will try them. will keep you posted
Just bought the yarn to do this. Wish I could get a written pattern, or some measurements. I always over estimate and will end up with a scoodie that will fit Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox. I think it is great how the "mistakes" actually made a nicer finished product since the area framing the face has a nice finished edge.
I love this garment, but I find it a bit challenging to work without a written pattern. Is it possible for you to send me the written pattern for the entire garment? I am very new to crocheting, but I really would like to create this item for myself. Thank you in advance.
I absolutly LOVE your scoodie, it's perfect. I am actually in the process of making one so I wanted to know about how many in/cm/rows did you do for your hood. The last one I attempted to make ended up being a disaster because the hood was too big. Again I love your work:)
i just finished mine and it was fantastic! i decreased my hoodie at the last 5 rows to form a head shape thou. All in all...im happy i finished it and i cant wait until winter!!!
Love love love this, totally gonna make one for myself and the kids and the hubby, how many balls of wool did you use for yours? Just so i have a rough idea of how much to stock up on.
Hello, I started to crochet not too long ago and find your tutorials very helpful and easy to understand so thank you so much for taking time out of your day to teach others. @veronica5416 Yes i agree, as you can see i totally got it wrong, thought i would just leave it in and show you how to fix it and i thought it looked kool with the border :)
