  • My two dogs once killed a mountain lion

  • Not the best idea to be there alone...mother cougars are extreamly dangerous when you are around kits...not to mention there is food nearby...all togther just not a good situation to be in

  • You are me hero! Maybe God put those stupid Coyotes there to stop the Lion from eating you! This is the best video on youtube.

  • Wow man that is amazing.... Just happened to film coyotes and a mountain lion in the wild... rare occurance!!I Wish I had see it...

  • i would have pped my pans

  • Geez, I would never get that close to a cougar.

  • stupid fucking dog needs to shut the fuck up,dogs are so fucking annoying.the fucking cogar could kill that stupid coyote in one smack!!

  • You are so fucking annoying, faggot!

  • @bstras211 YOUR PROBABLY A CAT HATER,BUT A LEAST CATS DONT SUCK A DICK WHEN YOU PUT PEANUT BUTTER ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol dog vs cat wich one will win this time take a guess

  • yep clearly the cat would win.. but the cat didnt see it worthy of any risk of injury with no gain. Put a rabit or cub in the mix and I'm sure you will see a very different result. The Video was great to see but saddened me a little to see how these beautiful animals were so accustomed to the bus and cars driving by .. (reflection)

  • @karonvick yea, cougars have gone at it with grizzle bears when threatened and won.

  • This is amazing. How wonderful to be able to watch one of Gods creatures in the wild like that. You are so blessed.

  • either way you have balls dude! props! i would have shit myself literally!

  • did you have a gun? i hope so!!

  • where is this? and cool vid!!!!

  • Good work! Well done man. Totally diiiiig it Thanx

  • cougar is so gay

  • Haha great video it was funny when the coyotes started to leave and the lion just looks over at you like..' now, you die.' And ur just like...' backing it up... backing it up...' lol

  • Stupid close. The moment was enchanting. Kind of intoxicating. Not smart at all. But magical. If it happened today I might have hit the road, pronto. But, maybe not......

  • @Perazul5 That was awesome! Thanks so much for sharing.

  • The Coyotes are probably life-mates. The cougar has got to know that she doesn't have a chance against two, maybe one. She has to live in order for her cubs to live. That's why she's probably not going after the Coyotes.

  • @Johnhoulgate She could most likely kill them both, but at a risk of being hurt and then her cubs would starve. I would be willing to be with no cubs she would stand her ground.

  • @Loth440 Oh hell yeah, she would shred both of those dogs. She did the right thing.

  • @Johnhoulgate You've got to be joking, a cougar can literally kill a coyote with a single, solidly landed swipe. Cougars and coyotes are so mismatched it isn't funny, even two one one the coyotes have pretty much no shot. It's all risk vs. reward here, The cougar isn't going to risk getting injured & infected over some territory dispute with a couple coyotes. Throw a kill in there and the coyotes wouldn't have pressed the issue, they KNOW they are grossly outmatched if the chips are down.

  • Thats looked pretty intence for a while... how close were you to all that?

  • Cool video! Its nice to see that the U.S. is still wild.

  • it's crazy. did they even know you were there with a camera?

  • 6:34 is definitely the best part

  • i like the part where it showed action

  • Comment removed

  • shoot them.

  • Amazing footage you captured!

  • Wow, amazing find, to see something like this is a rareity! I wish people would stop commenting about it, making it about themselves

  • Wow, amazing find, to see something like this is a rareity!

  • lol thats is a really small Cougar.. but I am from British Columbia, with some of the richest deer populations in the world.. seen twice as large.

  • I have had Mountain Lions stalk me several times.

  • I love how your like.. shit!

  • I HATE CAYOTES.. they are lil buggers.. tried to attack me when I was 7..

had to fight em off but almost gopt eaten, if it wasnet for my thik jacket.

  • I would have blew those no good for nothing dog killing chicken eating coyotes to hell then fed them to the cougar.

  • Thats awesome how close you got to them i hope you had somthing to protect yourself incase they went to attack you!!

  • that mountain lion would drop the coyote in 5 seconds.

  • huh ...that was interesting

  • i read that mt lions are known to stalk thier prey for up to a whole day sometimes before they attack,,very ineresting,,and good video,i been approched by mt lions and lyx before ,,they are not bad animlas they are very nice beauitiuful animals and they are the way they are cuase thats the way god made them ,,and peopel need to stop hurting or hunting or chasing away such an amazing creature mt lion..

  • i dont know what that coyote is thinking but it aint no match for a mt lion,,,mt lions take on bears

  • CATS ARE THE BEST AND VERY SMART AND BEAUITIFUL ANIMALS THAT SHOULD BE RESPECTED

  • AND THE COYETE AINT SHIT..THE MT LION IS DISTRACTING THE STUPID MUTT LIKE THE GUY SAID

  • Dam your gutsy to get that close!!!

  • why did you upload this to yourube??? you could sell it for national geografic

  • lion is stronger then this stupid dog no????

  • mountain lion is not as brave as an african lioness!! ha ha!!

  • @ramliug no dip shit..a mt lion is smarter they know exacely what they are doing they use thier brains first before their actions

  • @astarothsharp

no!! i saw a caracal (wild cat smaller than lion). but he drove away two hyenas!! caracal is smaller than mt. lion!!

  • WOW!

  • The poor animal is highly stressed, waiting for them to go away and they started a conversation... Don't tell me then it was the fault of the cougar if it attacked them.

  • ahh i recognize. the lion's atop the backboard at the tennis court. have played there many times. looks like they've dismantled the fence. pretty close to lots of consumers and cars. tourists come here, run over the animals, and throw out their trash to attract more. pretty good footage. not safe for animals to be so close to those roads. the hotel's only about 200 yards from there.

  • the variety of coyotl in the west is large. desert dogs are sleeker and don't usually have such a fluffy winter coat. have seen a couple male coyotl here near yosemite that were wolf size. not lately tho as they've pretty much been exterminated. used to see them eveyday, hear them every night. the extinction of wildlife around here has been humbling and sad. too quiet now with the coyotl and thrasher gone. and so many others. consumers suck

  • I was 21 in Wyoming hunting, and I had shot my fill for the day. My buck took a lung shot and I followed the blood trail which I found bubbled in. I followed the blood trail to a thicket covered in thorns, and I looked into his narrow passage and noticed drag marks. I went in to get my buck, and retrieve my arrow, but I got a feeling something was wrong. Crawled in and witnessed A mountain lion feasting on my kill. It looked me dead in the eyes, I knew I would have died so I did what I had to.

  • @medestroyyou oh i would have pissed my pants i know had one hell of an adrenaline rush

  • woah... what a great expierence... holy shit in an understatement....

  • the coyote looking straight at the camera was freaky - the camera guy being so close to everything absolutely amazing...

  • I'd rather have them cayotes around than that big cat around people......if this was a female it was probably the one that snatched a dog from its owner while on leash at fish camp area last summer.

  • Coyotes wanted to gang bang that cougar pussy.

  • lol coyotes r little assholes, theyre always fighting something on these youtube videos

  • Shit is right.

  • so in yosemite theres trails right near the road where coyotes and mountain lion just chill? and you stood within 50 feet of them?

  • This is amazing video. Were you on vacation? I live nearby & go hiking frequently & as yet have not run into these beautiful creatures. I don't know if you've been back but they have posted signs to be watchful & what to do if you encounter them.

  • I think that a mountain lion had no diference with a domestic cat, exept by the size

  • looks like a stand off for sure.. lol.. I wouldnt run, cuz that mountain lion could catch u and pounce u out quick and then they would be fighting over whos eating u.. lol..

  • Awesome footage!!

  • Hey were do you live in Ahwahnee i live in mariposa so i mean this is like a wow and i think the only reason that you might be still standing there is cause the Coyote And the reason why she in your words got treed is because she most likly had no intent to fight because there was none needed.

  • Those are very healthy coyotes! Great video good job!

  • While a coyote or two aren't really dangerous, hungry enough groups will attack basically anything. Mountain lions which are more solitary tend to attack humans as well if hungry. And they can be more dangerous. No wonder hes so nervous. I'd be running for my life

  • Wow I almost cried when i heard coyotes howling and mistook it for a mountain lion yelp. I was terrified that night. Funny how it cane down to what seems to be a law that dog chases cat

  • You have it all wrong, the mountain lion is searching for the coyote pups.... Listen to the coyote yip and bark... She is trying to sound bigger than she is....

  • love the footage of the coyote taking a shit. next time don't alert people that a mountain lion is there. video tape the attack.

  • TRULY AMAZING ANIMAL ITS TO BAD THERE ALMOST ALL GONE IN LA COUNTY AND THERE NOT AS BIG AS THEY USE TO BE THESE CREATURES ARE SUPPOSE TO REACH 150 POUNDS

  • at 6:46 the lions like, ; you starin at my ass? you perv......

  • You sounds a little nervous? lol

  • @leoarmy88 haha i would be to :P

  • @lickmydicknballs SAME HERE! shit

  • You are one Brave man! This is amazing footage of a Yosemite mountain lion, let alone witnessing coyotes that are heard Howling/Barking. It is very rare to encounter a mountain lion in Yosemite. It's unbelievable that you maintained composure and kept a steady hand while capturing this natural wonder! You deserve a medal for bravery!!

  • wat a dick

  • Coyotes can never go against anything there own size, they always run away, and anything can take down a Coyote, even a Mountain Lion.

  • @VTwinty 1) even a mountain lion? Mountain lions are GREAT hunters. They even eat small bears.

    2) Coyotes in groups that are hungry enough will go against all kinds of things. While wolves don't really mess with humans, coyotes will even go after humans when they are overpopulated and starving. When I lived on Camp Pendleton, they attacked kids in their homes at night through screen doors. Our game warden would have to come out in the middle of the night and introduce dozens to shotgun slugs.

  • @Terribleallister Yup any animal will attack a human me and my friend were being stalked by a wild Red Fox the other day. Not sure if it was rabid it didn't look aggressive and there was no foam from the mouth it kept its distance from us though, My only conclusion is it thought we had food or it used to be someones pet since I hear Foxes can be kept as pets under certain conditions. it disappeared when we went inside my house it was kinda creepy lol. Do you know why a Fox would follow us?

  • @TheCajunGambit1 Naw, I don't. And that is very strange because foxes are usually one of the animals that avoids people the most. It takes skill to track them.

But, yes. Any wild animal can be unpredictable. As I said coyotes will definitely go after people if hungry enough, and in Siberia, the squirrels are so hungry that it is regularly recorded that they attack dogs in small groups. I absolutely love nature, but most of what you hear from hippies on the wild is untrue. Nature is brutal.

  • @Terribleallister Did you hear the story of that guy in Canada who was a student he apparently got eaten by a pack of Wolves. But many people seem to blame it was an aggressive Black Bear that killed him but many coroners and scientists say it was a wolf pack. That be freaky just wandering the wilderness like that especially when they say the wolves and black bears are aggressive in that area.

  • Why is it most vids i watch are of cougars backing down against coyotes? They could end a coyote in 3 seconds

  • the mountain lion will have the coyote 4 break fast!

  • please stay in your glass bubble.....i see tracks in my horse pasture.all the time.....wise up bubble person

  • Great video, but absolutely no reason to be afraid of the cougar. Far more dangerous driving the park roads.

  • this was at many times too intense and nerveracking for me haha

  • i wouldve shit my pants

  • the mountain lion was scared of you, human hunters kill them, besides wild cats don't like to be seen

  • this video is amazing! its crazy how you got that close and your scent didnt seem to phase them. great video, thanks for posting brother

  • 6:35 lol

  • I woulda ran like a bitch and I'd be screaming like a bitch

  • well new wave......you might change your thinking when a big cat knocks you down at 30 mph rips your face off, eats your throat out then drags you under a tree and begins dissecting YOU from the groin, up///////get some reality experience......take a ride into the REAL WORLD....people like you live in a bubble....cougars are dangerous....dont you believe me? you think that cat would ask your permission to KILL you? your unreal !

  • @buddymacs - you are more likely to get murdered or die in a car accident than to be killed by a big predator (bear/cougar/wolf)!

  • call me ill shoot em all......real fast!

  • @buddymacs - the world would be a better place if you shot yourself instead, hick.

  • Unbelievable. I love when the bus drives by in the background. Yosemite...absoluteley no place like it on earth.

  • Am I the only one who thought the cameramans friend sounded hot??

  • Cougar (or mountain lion) by far North America's most amazing predator

  • quien caza aquien???

  • i believe ur right about the mountain lion but i think tht the coyotes are more interested in taking her kill then killing her cubs because coyotes hav good senses of smell so thy probably already smelled the cubs but wanted the meal

  • I'm with nerblebun on that, you got some brass balls man, and the sense to want to be as far away from that cat as possible.

  • i guess that would not be the time to go here kitty kitty

  • Coyotes taking a shit FTW

  • Attack at 6:36

    ....

  • Lol its so funny seeing animals shit XD

  • He seen the mountain lion and was like o shit

  • id have to have a gun to stay within 100 yards of that action.

  • i would have pissed my pants that close to a mountain lion

  • I have also been chased by coyotes. Lucky I had a semi auto bb gun that day. I opened up and ran to the house.

  • 4:15 oh shit

  • Now my cats scared and wont get off my chest just staring out the door wondering where the heck that barking coyote's gone to.

And that's just on an iPhone

  • great camera work and steady hands u got there. nice one i enjoyed it and voted.

  • Great vid. I immediately thought "Why did this guy film this event up so close? "However, I do understand that the conflict was between the coyotes & the mountain lion and I probably would have captured the event to, given the circumstance. Scary but exciting all the while ! Thanks again for posting, I thoroughly enjoyed this!

  • The lion is not at all afraid of the coyote. He does not want to be bothered, but he is not afraid. The coyote does not want the lion around, but the coyote is clearly afraid of the lion, as it should be.

  • you should change the tile to encounter NOT VS

  • so can you really get so close to both without them attacking you? or was it just that they didnt see you as a threat? Great vid man, must hav been an incredible experience!

  • I'd shit myself-but great video

  • curiously this mother lion made almost no sound. nothing like you describe. clearly her intention was simply to distract the coyotes from wherever she hid her cubs.

I had the same dual experience that you did, both terrified and amazed. something about the moment led me to suspend reasonable judgment and not get the heck out of the area.

  • @Perazul5 This is one of the best videos I've seen on YouTube. You must have balls the size of watermelons to stand that close while filming.Wish I could give it 10 stars !! Thanks for posting. By the way."Sadly, when my wife......" What ?

  • @Perazul5 that's true

  • amazing

  • Amazing footage! I was camping at Porcupine Flat on 8/24 and 8/25 2010 and both nights I heard coyotesand a mountain lion go at it! The cougar's scream was blood-curling, made my wife's and my hair stand on end. It's the most scariest and yet most awesome sound I've heard in Yosemite.

  • Well, that's the video of a lifetime.

  • Actually never saw the lion cubs. Certain that the mother would not be as patient with my foolish proximity to her if her cubs were anywhere near. I learned of the story from a Ranger that asked for a copy of my tape, so he could verify to his boss that they needed to post danger signs in Yosemite Valley. This ranger was the one that informed me that the mountain lion had killed a doe, mother of two infants, in the Ahwahnee Meadow around three am the night before. Sadly, when my wife ......

  • @Perazul5

    "Sadly, when my wife..."

Curious to hear the rest of your amazing story...

    Thanks!

  • @Perazul5 Humans do cause a lot of the issues; which, as a conservationist, concern me and others like me. We are at the top of the food chain, we are allowed to benefit from our position.

"To waste, to destroy our natural resources, to skin and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to increase its usefulness, will result in undermining in the days of our children the very prosperity which we ought by right to hand down to them amplified and developed." - Theodore Roosevelt

  • Very cool ... did you walk past the cubs feeding on the deer? I wouldn't want to get between them and the mama. I don't think the mama felt much of a threat from the coyotes ... walking pretty cool and casual.
