Runny is Ucky! Thanks for sharing this easy recipe! I have to take a side dish to my family Christmas party, and even though I've never tried this dish in my life, I'm DYING to, so now I'm gonna make it! :)
I'm so glad I found a clip of how to make this, had seen my American friends all putting up what they had had for their Thanksgiving meals and all included this - had got basic ingredients off them but was not too sure how to put it together . My only question is, and please forgive my British ignorance on this - do you serve it on the same plate as your main meal ie Turkey, or do you have it as a separate course ? And if you do have it as a "side" with main course , could you eat the leftovers
@missymjclare Yes, serve it with the main meal, and you absolutely can eat the leftovers. I actually think it is better the next day. Thank you for the comment...:o)
Wow. This is absolutely delicious! I made it last year for Thanksgiving and it was an absolute hit! (I knew it was going to be great especially when you didn't add "milk" cuz it was "yukky" ha ha. I don't like a creamy GB casserole either!) But most importantly is the FLAVOR! The bacon and onions made it incredibly delicious! I've got mine in the fridge and ready to pop it in the oven tomorrow. I am so glad you have shared such a wonderful recipe! Thank you!
im trying your recipe this year for thanksgiving just wanted to ask .. do you put the french onions toppingwhen you bake the casserrole or do you apply after you bake the casserole and then bake it for 5 more minutes?
i have tried this recipe last year and every since i made it i am always asked if i will be bringing it to family gatherings lol it is DELICIOUS! thank you so much for a great spin on a classic dish :))) two thumbs up
I tested your receipe this morning, and it was great....My problem, is, I bought seven lbs of green beans, thinking I'm Betty Crocker, so, now, I HAVE to use them or lose them.....But next time, I'm using your method...BTW, do you think mushroom with toasted Garlic (Campbell's), will be too powerful? Many Thanks, Happy Thanksgiving!!
@418sadeyes I have never tried the mushroom garlic soup so I can't really say. Maybe you could try half mushroom soup and half mushroom and garlic. Hmm, now I'm half tempted to try that, lol...Thank you for the comment. Happy Thanksgiving!...:o)
@aronk001 I love soy sauce so it's hard to say no, lol. It might make it to salty because of the saltiness of the bacon and the soup itself. Honestly, I probably wouldn't for this recipe. But, that's just my opinion. Thank you for the comment...:o)
@Cubana615 You probably could add them, but I wouldn't recommend it. The bacon and onions add so much flavor and you won't get that from the bacon bits. But, that's just my opinion...:o)
Just made this... It looks amazing! I am making this for my Mom and Dad, they are coming over for Thanksgiving, and I am making the meal. Have a great T-Day!
I made this tonight for my son and my mother as a test trial for tomorrows gathering at our church. I have never made or had green bean casserole and I am 24 years old. My son is a picky eater and did not like it. But my mom has had it in the past and never liked it until tonight! As for myself... I absolutly loved it!!!!! You did a great job and thank you so very much for sharing it. I will let you know how it works out at tomorrows lunchin with our church! Thanks again!!!!
@suzette222 You will probably want to use 4 cans of green beans. You should get by using 2-3 cans of cream of mushroom soup. Thank you for the comment...:o)
I love this recipe!! I will be doing this myself I did notice that you mentioned you usually prepare the night before which is what i believe I will have to do. So do you just prepare it all in the baking dish and then refridgerate and bake the next day? And how long would you recommend baking after it has been refridgerated?
@AllNaturalEpiphany Yes, I put it in the dish I will be serving it in. I usually take it out of the fridge about 30 minutes before I bake it, just so it won't be so cold when I pop it in the oven, but it's not necessary. I would say about 40 minutes or until it's bubbling good...Thank you for the comment...:o)
@pooellaa I don't see a reply on your other username. I may not be looking in the right place. If I do not find it I sure I will just experiment and figure out the best way to do this. Thanks ma'am

looks great!!! i will be adding bacon and onions to my green bean casarole this thanksgiving! try putting some canned sliced mushrooms in it, its a big hit!
I'm using your recipe in a competition against my wife. We offered to bring a casserole to a friend's superbowl party (Outdoor screen patio with smoked wings, southern fixins and plenty of heat lamps). Anyhow, Making a Saturday night date out of it by preparing it the evening before the game. She ALWAYS cracks on me about my cooking. So I'm using yours! I know the recipe is good but can I figure out "how to turn 'ON' the stove?". I'll keep you posted.
Followed your recipe for our green bean casserole and enjoyed every bite! I've added this to our list of must make recipe's for Thanksgiving dinner. Thanks!!
That's a tough question, I would say 6-8. For Thanksgiving I usually use 5-6 cans of green beans and use 2-3 cans of mushroom soup and add a little more bacon.
ya, actually pork in general is best to start out in a cold pan, but bacon will get crispy no matter what i think. i dont think she cares if the bacon is crispy, she is mainly using it for that fat for the onions, and the smokey flavor
I ALWAYS cook my (cold or not) bacon in a cold pan to start. As the pan warms up it will render out more fat from the bacon, wich the bacon will continue to fry in, thus resulting in perfectly crisp, yummy bacon. :)
