I know what the problem is turn down your aa to 0 and put textures on medium.
because the recommended system requirements for the normal crysis is a 8800gt 512Mb and that is measured on a standard 4:3 monitor so 1280x1024, so with 512mb you could just play the game on high(ish) settings and no AA wich really lowers the videoram usage,
apart from that 512MB video ram isnt really future proof anymore
hmmm strange but it could be the 4xAA...i play on very high 2xAA with a GTS 250 SC and i get 28-30fps+ also 1680x1050 resolution...could be the 4xAA but also could be the bolttleneck of the cpu....
i realized something.i have 5400rpm hdd, could be this that problem?it looks like its still loading the game, then it stops, couse i dont think its laging because of high level textures or what...
Anyway you should make sure the card is plugged into the power properly and monitor temps to make it's not slowing 'cause of heat or fan in-efficiency use something like gpu-z and monitor.
I have a problem with my 4870 too, I have the lastest drivers and catalyst 9.3, but when I go into Ati Overdrive, it says my current gpu clock is 500 mhz instead of 750mhz, I've tested the regular clock over and over but it stays at 500 mhz.
thats because your card is saving power, you don't need all that 750mhz while you r in ur desktop browsing through pr0n now do you ? whenever you open a game or something else that requires that power, your gpu automatically turns off the power saving mode.
Hmmm Interesting Man try to Reinstall Windows or try the new Catalist 9.3 they are OK !
AMD 6000+ not be Compatible ?? You joke No ?
Man your procesor is Fine but an Driver Is not ok
Man a good opinion ! Try vista becouse is more Compatible with the New Hardware .
Exemple i Hate vista but for my new monster videocard Sapphire ATI RADEON 4870X2 is more good Vista and more drivers are optimizet on Vista. Try Vista 64 Biti SP1 !
I got an Gigabyte GA-78G-DS3H motherboard, its an AM2+ platform. One thing i've noticed now when i watched the vid second time is that you dont have the option to choose vertical sync on or off in the menu, see if you can turn vertical sync to always off in the catalyst control center and try crysis again.
so i got the same problem in that position in crysis?i am still thinking, that my pcu is bottleneck.or maybe old mainboard with old chipset, nfroce 6100 or smth
i have the same problem with myn in windows vista. when i first got my card december last year it ran really good in xp and that was with catakyst 8.10 i havent tried since. i have catalyst 9.2 and it still hasnt solved the problem im still getting avg of 22 even in lower settings. My fist time buying and ATI card and its my last time ever.
I have the same cpu and ATi HD 4870 1 GB GDDR5. I think the cpu is also the bottleneck at least that's the problem for me. A quad core cpu would make a l lot of difference in Crysis.
i have prety much same set up its is DEFANATLY your ram it is EXTREMLY slow bottlenecking your system by a huge amount. get 4 gb of ddr2 800 mhz or 1066 if u upgrade your cpu like im doing to the new phenom II's ..
yea, i have the same card, and i went onto nvidia's site and did that 3d mark test thing to show how much better my computer would be with there gtx 285 instead of my 4870, and the results were the same. I also have lag on crysis, and now i know it can't be my video card, cus it's killer if it competes with the gtx 280 and all that. i have a 2.4gh quad cpu, so i was thinking maybe it's my ram which is 4gb of ddr2 kingstone hyper x. so do i need ddr3? or just more ddr2 ram?
also did you connect the TWO 6 pin power connectors to you hd4870 ? and if you use the adapter you have to plug in TWO 4 pin power connectors to that adapter.
i had pentium D 2x 3 ghz i had on level island 20 fps on low settings. now i upgraded to q6600 and i get 70 fps on low settings.
hmm did you turn on anisotopic filtering in ccc ? it costs muuuuuuch performance in crysis! especially on 16x
also antialiasing costs more performance. i recommend you to turn off antialiasing and turn on adaptive antialiasing in ati tray tools with quality and 0(smooth) setting. it looks great and you don't get any performance loss.
Additionally, I run a quad core CPU currently, the intel Q6600 with two 4870 1gbs in crossfire. When playing wars online, depending on the map, my FPS will range from 40 to 150. Why? My CPU is a bottle neck for these cards. That all changes next week when my i7 shows up with two 4970x2s. :) Crysis is demanding and it takes more than just a video card to max out. Feel free to contact me directly with more questions. I have been ATI for a long time.
Easy. Turn off AA and lower your settings. Regardless of your card, your CPU and/or your memory is a bottleneck. You need to upgrade your cpu and/or memory to match your video card. Even if you had two of these cards in crossfire, with 4xAA and high settings, you would still only average 30-50fps, if you are lucky. It is a complete myth that one of these cards can run full settings with AA with decent FPS, unless you have other hardware to back it up. There is nothing wrong with the card.
you say in your description this "3x1gb ram 1=333mhz," by that do you mean you have 2gb on 800mhz or w/e and 1 gb on 333mhz? If so the lowest frequency memory will cause that to be set as the default for all ram. so all 3gb will be clocked at 332mhz and if this is the case then thats probly why maybe. Just a thought.
LOL I will have the same computer! AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ A-data vitesta extreme edition 800+ Ati (but gigabyte) HD 4870 512mb DDR5 Win xp 32 bit! I hope, I won't get this problem, because I like to play crysis !
Maybe it's because you are using three separate rams. It's probably feeding off of one and ignoring the rest. GET NEW RAM! 3 gigs minimum. How do your other games run?
"3x1gb ram 1=333mhz," Dude thats ddr I got that on my old pent 4 here. How coem you don't have like ddr2 ram? If you've got ddr-333 ram this is the stats. memory clock: 166 mhz I/O Bus clock: 166 MHz Data transfers per second: 333 Million Peak transfer rate: 2700 MB/s Now ddr2 ram with the same memory clock stats to this I/O Bus clock:333 MHz Data transfers per second: 667 Million Peak transfer rate:5333 MB/s You can see the difference. Then you have ddr3 which is sickkkk like omg mad speed
even i dont understand a lot but thx man.i will se what make gta 4 on my pc,if it will lag too much i will change that fucking samsung rams.btw now i have only 2x1gb,3of them makes lags more
i have ati 3870 hd and it works perfect! maybe you didnt connect the shit right or its overheating try to get charging(i dont know the name on english pc names fuck me up) about 450 W or 500W chifteek or cooler master!
update:i changed catalysto to 8.7,alost nothing happend, but it is better then 8.8.i replaced one ram from 3 rams, and now it stoped :) so i am happy...i will be buying a new PC with intel processor, which on procesor can you advise to me?
hmm i dont know, but something is bad...try to reinstall your Catalyst..i have too 4870 and i can play with special config on 1680x1050 Ultra high on 30-40 fps
I dont know much about RAM, but Crysis is a big game. Maybe that 333 Mhz RAM is not enough. Is your power supply big? (550w or higher) cause the 4870 needs a lot of power or it wont give it's best. It also wont if it's working under a high temperature. It's a really hot card so make sure there's good ventilation in there. Cant think of anything else. Let us know.
thx, today i replaced one ram,so i have only 2gb now, cause i have lags in every game on every 2 minutes and now it doesnt make.i will be thinking about som 4gb rams A-data vivesta or some corasir 800 or even 1066 mhz.i have 500w fortron blue storm II but they told me,that is enough so i dunno.y its very hot,and after i changed catalyst 8.7 from 8.8 its hot much more
Here is some great news. The upcomming 8.9 ati drivers fix some problems with crysis and also have a performance increase. I have the same card and I can play it on very high except showdows are set to high. 4x antialising. Oh yeah I'm using the beta driver.
yea check your ram, try running 2 as he said cause hes right on the ddr2 fact. Also make sure you take out ur GPU, and there is no Hair/Dust int he slot ... when i 1st got a 8500GT a LONG time ago it ran worse than my 6800 ... i took the card out and a hair was in the slot, took out the hair and it ran much better
now im packing the 4870, and i play crysis dx10 all maxed out except filtering with 40+fps so its either that or your card got DOA ? hope i helped
Listen, If your a ture PC gamer' like myself, Your going to want a lot of RAM. If you do not have 64bit Vista OS, your computer will not recognize/use 8Gb of RAM. Aka, more than 4Gb.
Well yeah, of course you wan´t lots of RAM but you don´t NEED more than 2Gb RAM to run Crysis, but 4Gb is recommended, I myself can play Crysis at Medium, 1680x1050, NoAA with my crappy rig: Asus M2N-E SLI, AMD 4000+ @2.95GHz, PNY 8800GT @700/2200, 2Gb no-name RAM (595MHz) and I still get 30-40 FPS
You must change 2 things, first of all your OS, windows xp is not optimized for dual core plus XP does not support dirext X10, that is a requirement for crysis, second your RAM, get some DDR2 corsair XMS2-6400C4 800 RAM, youl be able to overclock that baby atleast 600MHz REAL clock speed, with my DDR2 corsair 667 i hit 4888MHZ, but my motherboard cant handle anymore, ram can go much more though. oh and i run vista on X2athlon
i reinstalled vista home 32 bit for this xp,mybe it was mistake, some people tells me,that i should do that, should i get vista now,or i can wait until i buy new rams?cause i dont have to play crysis now on very high,i will be playing games like assassins creed, race driver grid, mybe bioshock
I dont know about vista Home, i would suggest Ultimate, i also wouldnt suggest 32bit, i would suggest 64bit, in 32 bit windows take some of your ram so you dont get 100% of it, but you do in 64bit, also get 4GB of ram if your gonna run vista, maybe you should wait till you get your RAM, then you will be able to get the best out of your system
Btw Ati have always problems with their drivers, thats why im more nvidia fan, I own my self a GTX 280 and run game smooth at 1600 with 2X AA and 16Q 30-40 FPS all very high.
youre cpu is a huge bottleneck buy a Q6600 and a good cooler and set to 3.5 fps you gain alot of fps i think you will be able to play 30-40 fps this part
500w is not enough....you need minimum 550-600w...this card is hard core....usualy people on radeon cards dont use less than 600 w....................btw what is the rest of your PC specs:D
You lucky! I got 42 FPS with HD 4870 and it lag as hell

thx, today i replaced one ram,so i have only 2gb now, cause i have lags in every game on every 2 minutes and now it doesnt make.i will be thinking about som 4gb rams A-data vivesta or some corasir 800 or even 1066 mhz.i have 500w fortron blue storm II but they told me,that is enough so i dunno.y its very hot,and after i changed catalyst 8.7 from 8.8 its hot much more

The problem might be your RAM, DDR2 works in pairs, otherwise they're much more slower. Try with only 2 DDR2 RAMs and see what happen.
I get 25-30 fps with an HD 4850, Phenom 9750, 2GB RAM @ 800MHz at the same resolution.

Without Windows vista 64-Bit, your not getting DX-10.1 or the 800 Stream processors the videocard entitles. You made the same mistake my friend did.
puresofmeh 3 years ago
stuupid, you don´t need the 64-bit version, only Vista SP1
minijeppe 3 years ago
Listen, If your a ture PC gamer' like myself, Your going to want a lot of RAM. If you do not have 64bit Vista OS, your computer will not recognize/use 8Gb of RAM. Aka, more than 4Gb.
puresofmeh 3 years ago
Well yeah, of course you wan´t lots of RAM but you don´t NEED more than 2Gb RAM to run Crysis, but 4Gb is recommended, I myself can play Crysis at Medium, 1680x1050, NoAA with my crappy rig: Asus M2N-E SLI, AMD 4000+ @2.95GHz, PNY 8800GT @700/2200, 2Gb no-name RAM (595MHz) and I still get 30-40 FPS
minijeppe 3 years ago
You must change 2 things, first of all your OS, windows xp is not optimized for dual core plus XP does not support dirext X10, that is a requirement for crysis, second your RAM, get some DDR2 corsair XMS2-6400C4 800 RAM, youl be able to overclock that baby atleast 600MHz REAL clock speed, with my DDR2 corsair 667 i hit 4888MHZ, but my motherboard cant handle anymore, ram can go much more though. oh and i run vista on X2athlon
SuicidalLooney 3 years ago
i reinstalled vista home 32 bit for this xp,mybe it was mistake, some people tells me,that i should do that, should i get vista now,or i can wait until i buy new rams?cause i dont have to play crysis now on very high,i will be playing games like assassins creed, race driver grid, mybe bioshock
jakubko4ever 3 years ago
I dont know about vista Home, i would suggest Ultimate, i also wouldnt suggest 32bit, i would suggest 64bit, in 32 bit windows take some of your ram so you dont get 100% of it, but you do in 64bit, also get 4GB of ram if your gonna run vista, maybe you should wait till you get your RAM, then you will be able to get the best out of your system

I'm sure you've figured it out by now. Your RAM is a huge bottleneck. Get DDR2 800hmz
Fmofdeath 3 years ago
Is your memory ram clock speed...
is too slow... DDR1 333 Mhz.... is very slow...
Change to DDR2 800 Mhz... your lag will end *)
LCNitro 3 years ago
3x1gb ram 1=333mhz???
Is your problem with the lags...
use 2 x 2Gb ram DDR2 = 800Mhz...
You no lag no more after this! xD
LCNitro 3 years ago 2
Btw Ati have always problems with their drivers, thats why im more nvidia fan, I own my self a GTX 280 and run game smooth at 1600 with 2X AA and 16Q 30-40 FPS all very high.
elitespa 3 years ago
Are you running XP? if yes, then use the crack for very high on XP, just google it.
elitespa 3 years ago
but then it will be lagging much more
jakubko4ever 3 years ago
Dont forget when you record on fraps you will have a fps drop about 10-15

dont take graphiccard back to shop its one of the best cards ever
Biggrill 3 years ago
you cant set to very high because you have Xp need vista for dx 100 very high or use some tweaks to make it look even better than high graphics
Biggrill 3 years ago 2
youre cpu is a huge bottleneck buy a Q6600 and a good cooler and set to 3.5 fps you gain alot of fps i think you will be able to play 30-40 fps this part
Biggrill 3 years ago
i think its because youre cpu how much ghz? you need a minimum of 3 ghz per core
Biggrill 3 years ago
btw why i cant set setting to very high???
jakubko4ever 3 years ago
You need a better power supply.
