  • got it fingers releasing the string slightly for a mute

  • i see power chords but it it like your fingers are moving up a stepor is the difference im hearing the bass

  • @clinky83 sorry, i didn't understand you. =/

  • @basket2568 OMG! my first spam comment :3

  • badass wish i could play that good

  • @cheezkid someday you'll do it (if you want to play guitar) :)

  • @Phan77om yeah i have the basic power chords down but i cant play actual notes. Like E C D etc, all i can do is basically power chords, cause theyre easy

  • @cheezkid well, in this song all the chords are powerchords (F5, G5, C5, A5, etc)

  • Very nice playing! Hey, how good is the sustain on the sh-5 duncan? I'm interested in getting this pickup.

  • I think that depend on the amp too, but i think it has a lot of sustain, in a 90w Laney was extremely long for example, but in my 20w Marshall is very low.

  • thanks for your post Phan77om... i love this cover

  • hey! thank you for watching

  • mr burn sais u are exellent! and so say i :P

  • he say that to the song ^_^

but thank you very much! =)

    either way, u ROCK!!

(me just playing guitar for about 4 weeks, and one day, i hope to be as good as u :3 )

  • I disagree since Adam lambert can sing and happens to be gay and glam punk which would work. No one could replace Tim Curry but AL has the sexual energy.

  • that doesnt matter i think adam lambert would be a horrible choice as dr.frank...not because hes gay and is glam punk...just the thought of him playing dr.frank would be a disgrace to the movie...its like casting jake as prince of persia...he has no business playing that role

  • now to be realistic...i would never let mtv touch this movie for casting because you would get a choice like adam lambert as dr. frank and zac efron for brad majors...cmon now...thats horrible...the part of this movie that got me was the wickedness of it all...the only person i see for doing a remake of this movie is probably tim burton...and you know he would cast johnny depp and helena bonham carter...who i see as dr. frank and magenta

  • and i could totally see that happening...now i know who im gonna list doesnt seem to fit a tim burton movie but the cast i see:

    johnny depp - dr.frank

    helena bonham - magenta

    scott marsden - brad majors

    amy adams - janet weiss

jackie earl haley - riff raff

    jack black - eddie

    alan rickman - the criminologist

etc...they all can sing and i think would fit their personalities more

  • respect!

  • fantastic cover my man, great sound too

  • man a bass cover woulda been waaaaaay cooler i like the beginning

  • the line is is actually by RKO not RKL

  • thanks for the correction, i just copy the lyrics from a web. Now is fixed.

  • And i do not a compressor*** I already got one. I dont like it for rhythm, I use it for smoother solo sounds.

  • cool... but also compressor can correct and adjust the sound like no one EQ can do, and also a EQ can correct and adjust the sound like no one Mic. so, that was my advice.

When you work with so many parameters like fx, eq, compresor, etc is easy to get lost.

But well, i dont really know how much you learn from your equipment, and for the purpose of the original question, i think you should try the SH-5, high-output, and highs from the ceramic magnet. Maybe is that you looking for. Good luck

  • I dont need to correct a sound. I want a correct sound, that I can change by taste with a compressor. I got an eq in my effects chain, also a compressor, so I have got both.

I know a lot and really A LOT about my equipment, playing with tubes at the moment, completely modding my other amp, so ye I know what I do and what i got.

I dont get lost :) I know what I have got. I hope its what I am looking for, thanks.

  • How u like the sh-5? I am about to get a dimarzio evo2 but i think its too compressed. I want a thick vintage sound for in my thicking souding basswood guitar.

  • well... "thick vintage sound" its not what you going to find in the "high output" series of Seymour Duncan (like the Duncan Custom, Jeff Beck, Invader, etc.) The SH-5, has a lot of bass, mid, and even more treble. It's most used for hard rock and metal.

You need to look at the antiquity models, or the section for telecasters, stratocasters. Also are P-90 and PAF mics. I dont recomend you Humbucker if you want "thick" sound like teles or stratos.

  • It all depend in what guitar you have, and what sound you looking for. Go to Seymour Duncan web site, and check the tones and specs.

  • A single coil or p-90 doesnt sound thick. A Dimarzio super distortion gives a thick vintage sound, and this is also a high output pup. It sounds nice on ur clips, not thick enough, but this is also by the guitar i think.

  • i think u should visit the DiMarzio web page, there u can find the mic you look by the specs, also put the type of wood, in this case Basswood.

And I found 3 single coil vintage with brighter sound: "True Velvet Neck", "True Velvet Bridge" and "FS-1".

So, check the "pickuppicker" software in DiMarzio page to find the sound. I think that would help if you are new to types of mics.

But, personally, i really dont think that a Super Distortion gives "thick/brighter vintage sound".

  • I dont like pickup picker things because my gutiar isnt comparable with any other guitar. I dont want single coils but humbuckers. The SD isnt bright but it does sound fat.

  • well, maybe youre defining wrong the sound you looking for. The sound that you discribe, its like the clasic telecaster or stratocaster sound from the 50-60.

Humbucker will give you a sound not too bright, with more mids, bass and output. Also, you have to get in mind that basswood dont help at all to get the "vintage thick" sound. That are my advices. I Hope you get what you really want. Maybe you should mention a band or artist who have that sound you are looking for.

  • I dont want a strat sound. A strat sounds thin. I got a blade california custom and its great, but for different styles. I like the sound of Adam Jones of tool for rhythm. And i want a beefed up solo sound, so not a SD jb solo sound because thats just not my thing, too thing and too bright.

  • oh, i see now. I must say that Tool sound is not "vintage thick" at all xD

And yeah, you should go for a Humbucker. (and a lot of effects). Personally i recomend u to buy pedals effects & amp first, in that order, then a mic. Cause the sound of the mic is only worth when you have a damn good amp with damn good pedals and effects.

And i think that the SH-5 is not what youre looking. I encourage u to go to the web of SD, and listen the sound samples of the mics. Then, decide for your self.

  • U are right about the tool tone. I know I dont want that tone exactly, cuz the solo sound is too thin for me. Adam jones almost uses non effect. He uses his volume knob a lot. I have got a marshall superbass, so same tone as adam jones...but i got a post pi master volume and 4x g12-65h speakers. I got a brunetti xl-r w/ v30's and a marshall dsl50 w/1960a. And u think this is a problem? I dont need pedals. I got a g-major and a boss gt-pro and a boost for the superbass.

  • You have a lot of equipment! i think you need to explore more the posibilities with all that. I mean, buying a mic, is not going to change your sound a lot.

I recomend you setup the amp in a flat EQ. Then try to get a nice sound of the pedals you use (if they have EQ, Compressor, etc), then you can touch the EQ of the amp for correction of tone

And you should take a look at this: guitargeek(com)/rigview/593/

    guitarfxdepot(com)/rigs/adam-jones-tool-guitar-rig/

He use the SH-4 + Gibson

  • Thx for the links :) I know i got a lot of stuff, and i know what it all can do. I always play with the settings. Since im a perfectionist, i want the perfect pickup. Dont got money for a custom guitar yet :P The patb-1 i got now is a bit too transparent. I think ill go for a dimarzio air norton, lower output, alnico 5. Or a alternative 8 by SD. I dont use too much effects. Just some delay, chorus, reverb and compression and i get some awesome tones, only the bridge pup isnt my thing atm :P

  • Cool choice, cause Alnico V has great dinamic and is in the SH-4 Jeff Beck (at least is what i remember xD) and the SH-5 has Ceramic Magnet.

But, again... if you put a pedal EQ like Adam Jones, you can play with almost any mic, and still obtain a desired sound.

I hope you get a mic that really satisfice you.

  • I dont like the super distortion. I want more brightness. I think I am getting this pup or an alternative 8. I need a lot of trebble because my guitar sounds huge by itself, 011 strings help :P. My guitar would sound a lot thicker with the same pup, and my amps also sound A LOT bigger and thicker.

  • You need an EQ pedal and a compressor. With that, you can get any sound you want.

And also, if you want to sound thicker use 0.09 strings (light gauge).

A mic can't solve the tone of your guitar by it self, so keep in mind that.

And... why u use it anyway if you want another sound? that hasn't any sense. But, whatever... do what u want.

  • I dont need an EQ pedal, the EQ of my brunetti works great, and I mod my superbass to have a great eq, choose everything like I like it. I use 0.11/010 strings. A lot thicker, heavier to play and especially A LOT bigger tone. Really a lot of difference. I love my guitar, it only needs to be brighter, I need some other pickup for that, thats all. I do not want a scoop pup. I have tried a lot of stuff, amps guitars and everything. This guitar sounds bigger than most gibsons.

  • good job

  • begining sounds like van halen im on fire

  • oh, i didnt knew that... but what i know is that Me First and The Gimme Gimmes are known for filling their covers with famous guitar riffs from songs by other punk rock bands.

You can search in the wiki, they explain in there.

  • LMAO. I can't believe these guys actually covered Rocky Horror. FTW.

    good cover too.

  • yeah, and they do such a great job! :D

  • great job man !

    this band is amazing..

  • I´d like to buy the sh5, I really like its description... but I haven´t found a single good demo.. WHAT? Finally. You have an amazing rock sound. Are you satisfied with your pickup?

  • Yes, im satisfied with the mic.

And consider my amp... is CRAP!... seriously... is very ugly, and my guitar isn't great too, its a Squier... so, this mic with a good valve amp, or a good pedal and good cabinet + a good guitar = totally rock sound xD

  • Thanks!! :-D

  • very cool,you got it =)
