What if this battle had occurred in our own timeline? The way we've ravaged other countries with war and the conflict within our own countries as it is? We've let Yami win and Amaterasu fail. Seeing us as we are now, there's more evil within us than good. I'm sorry Ammy, we've failed you.

You know, when I was playing this game. I expeceted Yami to be this HUGE demon with like 6 arms, a long ass tail, armor plated skin, red eyes, horns, large teeth with claws, basically Chaos from Dissida but when I saw that it was just some half human-whale fetus... thing inside some huge morphing ball I was disappointed at first cuz... it wasn't as dramatic as I thought it would be until I fought him.... every battle until this point was chump change compared to Yami. Very Happy with this game

Yami is an interesting villain, because he's a giant demonic sphere. I just wish they didn't make his true form a small foetus/fish creature. It belittles the threatening appearance he imposes. Though the final form makes up for it.

What I admire is that one of the battle phases has him in a slot machine form...

I kindof have mixed feelings if Yami realy was a worthy final boss, disregarding his title.

His design compared to a lot of the others is realy a dissapointment since it is, basicaly a baby seal in a hamster ball, controling a bigger ball.

But since basicaly every part of him represents a sin or aspect of darkness, it kind-of justifies his title and the fight is epic to say the least.

Looking through past years of war and hardships, I'd say that Yami's won this battle and Amaterasu's lost, from this standpoint of course. And when I say this, it's a battle of Nature vs. Technology, Light vs. Darkness, etc.

One thing of note that I just noticed, is Yami(or at least the little dolphin thing)'s colour scheme. Take a look at it; black with blue trim. The thing's like an inverted Brush God of some sort.

It's not like you see a final boss like that everyday. Also, I don't think they need to find a new design. This is based on a Japanese culture, and well.. a boss like, I dunno; say some mutant zombie would never fit. I think it's just perfect. :)

Yami was a boss I actually enjoyed fighting. But it was incredibly long for him. Also I cheated when we were doing the lottery thing. I used the veil of mist to slow it and then stopped time with the brush to strike. Still it was an awesome game.

Yah I agree, I mean The idea of Yami was a good final boss, but the reputation that the plot had given him din't match up with the dramatic build up at the end. If there had been some more suspense in the ending plot, Yami would be the perfect boss, hands down. But it's fine, Okami is a great game. Great artwork, gameplay, plot, characters, ideas, puzzles, all of them come together to make one very impressive game. =)

When I came to this part on my first playthrough I was like, what the heck the lord of darkness is a friggin marble? Then when it took Ammy's powers and the dolphin-thing came out of the marble I was expecting a little villan monologue, but Yami never spoke.

But in my 3rd playthrough, I realize how evil a mute dolphin can be. I still take around 40 minutes to beat Yami.
