  • My father was a pilot for Ozark from 1973 until their merger with TWA in 1986. He became their first African-American captain. He loved working for Ozark and he was never the same after the merger. I live in Maryland now and I see there's a listing and location for Ozark here, but I can't get much detail about it. Does anybody know what that's about?

  • The pilot in this commercial is my father. Hard to believe that he is 11 years younger than I am now. How time flies.

  • @starcheck1 Wow. That is very cool. It is crazy that time goes by so quick. Controllable HTA Airplanes have only been around 100 years and same with cars. My great grandma turned 100 this year I bet shes seen a lot!

  • My Dad worked for them from 1958-1960 then onto Delta for 40 years

  • Sweet, you look amazing mom!!! quite the knockout!!!!!!

  • hey mom, you look great!

  • I started my airline career with Ozark Airlines in Burlington, IA. It was a great airline. I left in 1980 after 2 recent strikes and layoffs.

  • That's funny,my father died on an Ozark airline crash in 1973 approaching St Louis. I suppose they were 'big on" not mentioning crashes as well!

  • that was in a tstorm in a F27. Where was it coming from?

  • Yes you are right,it was an F-27.

The flight was coming out of Cape Girardau MO. Can't remember where it originated, but final was Chicago (my father was on a business flight for Proctor and Gamble) If you look on google earth about half a mile from runway 30L at Lambert intl. you will see a placemark where it went down.

  • Nashville, Clarksville, Paducah, Cape Girardeau, St. Louis. I remember this day...sad.

  • @gaguy1967 Actually it was a Fairchild Hiller FH-227B, N4215, serial number 513. It was the first FH-227 aircraft Ozark too delivery of in August 1966.

I recently supplied Kathy Sweeney of a Cape Girardeau TV Station with photos and actual Ozark FH-227 sounds for an investigative piece she did on the crashof Ozark flight 809.

I have the NTSB report and in my opinion, the pilot should have elected not to land...

I have a website dedicated to the FH-227.

  • @pcolasexton Just saw this....my grandparents were both killed on that flight July 23, 1973.

  • The pilot in this commercial is a personal friend of mine! U-tube is wonderful! How happy he was that someone found this and sent it to him - then he shared it with all his friends! Ozark was a great airline!

  • WOW most people have no clue who Ozark was. Thanks for the post I loved it.
