hideo, no matter how you change the gameplay style, graphic, etc, i think MGS1 is still the best and always the best. it is a big mistake because you dont want this game using soliton radar. soliton radar is mgs trademark. looks like i can't enjoy this game anymore because there is no soliton radar. the metal gear series that i really enjoy playing it is MGS1 & MGS2...

i like the soliton radar, too. It makes the game more fun and less stressful. You can proceed without swerving the camera in every direction to make sure that there are no enemies around. The constant camera swerving ruins the mood.

The threat ring works mainly in quiet areas with just a few soldiers around. In other conditions, I barely pay attention to it. It just confuses and distracts me.

I'd like it much better if it would stop picking up the small animals running around. That would make it a bit more useful to me.

Otherwise, it was pretty cool to detect people using that ring.

Just wanted to let you know I feel the same way. I love the Soliton Radar. It makes "sneaking" feel badass rather than stressful and nervous with the MGS4 threat detection system.

I change my mind. I'm actually mixed about the new MGS4 threat dection system and the soliton radar. Sometimes, I do enjoy it because it forces me to be more cautious.

What gets me is that soldiers are suppose to be fooled by the camo system and think snake is a statue.

Even though the statues are naked and snake is covered in body armor, grenades, guns and doesn't have the same texture as a statue. Not to mention if its a monument soldiers would notice off the bat the third was a fake.
