Let's not pit DS9 and B5 against each other, as they are cut from the same cloth, and are very good series in their own rights. They are the only two sci-fi series that I can consistently go back to and watch all over again like it's my first time. I only wish B5 could get some love in this day and age like Star Trek can.
Of course you can look at all spec affects that look funny now. When i was a kid the looked cool so i watched the show. Now i saw all season like 3 times :D. When i was a kid i didn't understand the meaning of Babylon 5. It is so deep and i think that when i will be and old crazy grandpa i will find new meanings in it. Babylon 5 touches me motivationally and philosophically. It made me a better person. And it not a serial it is a wild journey.

I absolutely love the first half of this sequence. The way it takes you through the previous four years of the show is just fantastic. The first time I saw it, I got chills.
As a Trek Fan watching this B-5 now, I really don't believe there is any comparison. I'm astonished at how good the show was...It's clearly the best SCI FI show, even over BATTLE STAR GALATICA AND STAR TREK.

My absolute #1 sci-fi series. The long story arc, the depth of the characters. A true winner. Only people who have not watched it in completion will not like it. Just finished my second time through and I loved it even more than the first time. Personal favorite character - Londo Mollari.
Yeah, for me it's a toss-up between season 3 and this one.. I think this one wins out.. It does such a good job of summing up what's come before. Too bad this was probably the weakest season..
I found all five seasons to be amazing. The movies were quite good, too. Except for one of them. Legend of the Rangers. That one is a disgrace and everyone should just ignore that it ever existed. Everything else is awesome.

well you can blame that on a cleaning lady in a brighton hotel because while jms was attending a convention the aforementioned cleaner cleaned his room and chucked all the notes he had written for s5 and that with the fact that at the time they didnt know for deffinate if there would be a season 5 orginially it was planned that the whole of s4 would of been the reminder of the shadow and s5 would of been taking back earth so that is the reason for the subpar s5 that we got :( fragging cleaner
hence forth we got lochley and that fragging wimpass pathetic twat byron and you can blame getting lochley on claudia christian cause she didnt wanna do a 5th season cause jms spent most of that convention trying to persuade her to stay but alas she did not. Wow. These are such amazing shots. I hope J.M.S goes back a la George lucas and updates the cgi shots to today's standards, with hopefully a full orchestra suite instead of the half synthetic pop that is now on.
What a Great show! Seeing this season five opening brings back the excited anticipation I enjoyed each week when this space soap was new. That Vorlon at 0:17 looks like an angel to me. This series sure tanked fast after the Shadows, Vorlons, & Old Ones left. But the 5-year plan worked like a magic spell.
