Shame mcdonnell douglas collapsed. Sadly, they were run by a bunch of swine. In the 70s, they planned a 2 engined plane that would have nipped Airbus in bud. The A#$holes @ Mc-D declined to go ahead because only a foreign airline (SwissAir) was interested. Airbus should never have been born; because of incompetent leadership, Airbus prevailed.
MD-90-30 - Typical cruising speed at 35,000ft 809km/h (437kt). Range with 153 passengers 3862km (2085nm), or 4023km (2172nm) for standard -30ER, or 4425km (2389nm) for long range -30ER. MD-90-50 - Range with 153 passengers 5600km (3022nm). MD-90-55 - Range with 187 passengers 5005km (2700nm).
It would be kinda sad if it said "Goodbye" Instead of "Hello" on the fuselage. :(

I love the MD-90, but hate the MD-80. To me, the MD-80 is out of proportions due to it's skinny JTD's... but these engines are much better.

Why is the nose gear so short? It really takes away from the beauty of the plane in my opinion.

so that it could operate into short arfields with no jeteways, and use stairs. the short gear adds to the beauty for me.

welll if the nose gear was tall its would look like the tu-154 with 2 engines and that plane is NOT atractive

They should have developed a DC-8 twin as well. Could have beat Boeing to the 757. Just bad decisions all around on the McDonnell side.
