armchair Generals.... it was A SINGLE LANE dirt road blocked with 30 Corps... the single largest avoidable mistake was the tankers waiting for infantry ... when they could have used the Americans... massive blunder .
Even with 30 Corps the overall out come of an Allied victory is improbable.
In 1944, knowing WW2 was lost, Martin Bormann and German industrialists began moving Nazi looted wealth into corporations around the world to jump-start the 4th Reich. Operation MARKET-GARDEN's Paratroopers holding bridges across the Rhine river into the German industrial heartland threatened their escape,
so Illuminati member Peter Smith --the famous Grenadier Guards Major who refused to move his tanks past Nijmegen bridge to link-up with Frost's men at Arnhem bridge even when 82nd Airborne Para Infantry offered to clear any AT guns--deliberately sabotaged the mission for the Nazis.
He is known today as Lord Carrington who afterwards chaired the evil Bilderbergers conspiracy group--which first met in Arnhem to mock the dead with their getaway. The brave British troops were betrayed by their officers.
Yet another reason why Airborne units must be complete combined-arms teams with light tanks etc. to prevent political back-stabs. Fascist German/Japanese money stolen from the 62M WW2 dead still runs the world today.

Please don't start this rubbish about USA won the war, the English were the first to defeat the Germans in 1939 battle of britain and the Englsh fought for 2 years before the americans finally woke up. Also at Omaha beach the us debarked too far from the beach and the first wave of assault tanks sank, thats partly why it was such a mess...but nobody likes memories of mistakes
In fact the issue was about making the Montgomery's plan... How the hell could Ike accept that?? It was clear since EL ALAMEIN that Montgomery wasn't a good tactical general but just good on the organisation...he let Rommel to retreat his forces instead of cutting his back and avoiding then the loose of thousands of human lifes...
This is what happens when generals put the 'Selfishness' first...but don't worry, most of Monty's info on the net don't talk about Market Garden....shamefull...
you might say that Germans were already battered up, but Model, known as the Fuhrer's fireman for his exceptional ability to rally the retreating troops and turn them into a counterattack, would have probably blocked the 30th.
Truly, amphibious tanks might have helped. However, again, it was not the issue of crossing the river that hampered the 30th Corps. It was the issue of clearing German resistance along the Hell's Highway, which proved to be quite a hard task.
so, by the time 30th met with the Poles, the war was not by any means over, which the operation was to achieve, if carried out successfully. Certainly, 30th Corps might have crossed the Rhine and reinforce Urquhart. However, again, the true objective of the battle was lost; troops from all over Germany were rushing Arnhem and my guess is that, even with 30th Corps, Fieldmarshall Model would have carried out successful defense of the bridge, or he could have simply blown it into the Rhine
Maybe--and I've considered the same possibilities, but the POINT IS TO FIX FORCE STRUCTURE so the next time we FIND OUT what happens by a successful maneuver instead of making excuses and speculations.
very just and certainly one of the possible solutions to Arnhem conundrum. However, it should be noted that the objective of Operation Market Garden was not to capture Arnhem or simply cross the Rhine - Supreme commanders at SHAEF expected Market Garden to end the war by the end of the year, 1944, with surprise attacks from airbornes and the 30th Corps, with flank attacks from 12th and 8th Corps. However, by the time 30th reached Driel, near Arnhem, meeting 1st Polish Abn Brigade,
