Over here in Austria, we can only get straight pull AKs, too. Semi auto ARs, AUGs and SG550s are legal tho... kinda ridiculous, but it's the law... haha
@michaelhklein because full auto AKs are illegal in some countries so you have to have the "straight pull" which is exactly what he is doing there. (one shot cock it)
@vodka1983 You obviously don't know your guns, it is an AK-104, they are a smaller version of the ak-74, and in the UK it is one of the few that are manufactured as a straight pull for AK.

Dude there is a PLUG in the gas block that should have been removed when your gun-smith cut the barrel and converted it into an SBR.
It should be zinging spent steel (commie brass) at least 10 feet away.
