Your right Guza is gone but the legacy of crap stays. They can't bring back great characters like AJ, Alan, Emily, Zander, Georgie, or Cooper because they were all murdered for Guza's mob story lines. I can't wait for GH to be about fun and family and less about violence.

AJ for me is the strongest example of the GH writers demolishing a character to build up the mob characters. This happened over and over again with many different characters but AJ was the worst. I will always refute AJ faking his death and kidnapping Michael. But then again, was that really worse than Sonny kidnapping AJ, hanging him on a meat hook and leaving him to die so that he would sign away his rights to Michael?

@goblz I stopped having any use for Sonny after that. Guza leaving sounds good but I am afraid that the damage has already been done.

I liked this AJ, admittedly I dislike him for some of the stuff he's done but overall I know he's a good guy, when he's not drunk and being stupid. If he had stayed sober in the beginning I'm sure he would have been a great father to Michael though making Jason Michael's father was cool too.

I really hope that AJ is still alive and that the writers will bring him back. His character had great potential.. I was watching old clips of GH with the old jason and aj and it jus made me fall in love with aj.. although i'm a huge jason lover as well.. it'd be great to see aj come back!!!

I wish it'd turn out that AJ's really alive somehow- hey, it IS a soap. LOL. It's a shame his character was wrecked for the sake of a writer's personal fave. I'm down with writing a rivalry, but, only if you actually know how t owrite one. Guza screwed up big time.

He totally shipwrecked a really good soap, killed off or got rid of almost all the ethnic characters on the show, and decimated the Quartermaine family all for the sake of continuing his stupid mob-fare storylines. Not everyone wants to watch people sleep around or commit acts of violence everyday.

Wow I'm surprised how many people actually liked AJ I thought I was only one. No matter how hard the writers tried to ruin AJ's charactor it only made me love him more. The poor guy got a raw deal in everything. I hated how his family treated him loving Jason (yes I am also a Jason lover) more even after stealing AJ's son. The poor guy was even held in a meat locker and forced to sign over his rights (which ended me liking Sonny for good). I keep hoping he's really alive somewhere.

I agree he often got the short end of the stick, but he also brought a lot of the damage down on himself. I always felt bad for him back in 96-97 when he was trying so hard to be nice to jason. Maybe it was just guilt after the accident, but I felt for the guy.

I'm glad to see from these comments that other people liked AJ. I always had sympathy for him and saw great potential. His character was sacrificed to make Sonny Carly and Jason look good.

@LBF522 The writers ruined the whole damn show when Sonny came on. The show is no longer general Hospital, It's the Sonny Corinthos show now. Don't get me wrong, Maurice Benard is a great actor. But they killed the show in favor of him

I liked Sonny at first and then the writers made him a cartoon gangster and we were suppose to believe that these female law enforcement types are going to fall over him. Yes Guza is gone but the damage is done and I suspect that General Hospital will be the next soap to be cancelled. I keep reading that it may be next year.
