  • A pri chem zdes' ja? Pochemu Vy reshili mne ob etom soobschit'? :)

  • А-а-а! Та це ж "Їхав козак за Дунай"!!! =)

Ah! And it's the "Cossack Rode Cross Danube", Ukrainian folk song!

  • It is not "Ukrainian melodies by Donizetti, but rather ukrainian melodi in a Donizetti's opera. More than that, he begins one of his overtures with this song.

Russian army chased Napoleon to Europe where they hit the beer-halls.

A third of the russian army were ukrainans. They always sing. At least 3 other

composers wrote variations. Donisetti just used the song.

    Bravo!!! Donizetti. Pererwa

  • pimanula pidvela :)))

  • The name of original song is "Ihav kozak za Dunaj". There are a lot of different versions of it on YouTube. The same theme was used by Bethoven. IT IS UKRAINIAN FOLK SONG!!!

  • Please, listen - /watch?v=bYrGI0FncYc

    Here is Beethoven - /watch?v=O5-pMQ6kxF4

And here is variations by russian accordionist - /watch?v=qU9uny84V08

In 19th and 18th centuries was no Russian federation and Ukraine (as state), was one Russian empire.

Learn about Dmitry Bortniansky and Maksym Berezovsky, both ukrainians, and both died in St. Petersburg.

  • Да-а-а... Задорнов таки прав...

Of course, if you don't know ukrainian folk music, you can not hear it in the overture.

And again, learn history, Ukraine was in Russian empire, every second last name in Siberia is ukrainian. And who is Conte Stanislao Potoski, where has lived Potoski family? Where is Potoski castle? In Lviv. Where is Sofia park, founded by Potoski? In Uman'.

  • @trovatoreua - Stanislaw Potocki was polish nobleman. Lviv was polish city!

  • And what about "God save the Queen" in "Roberto Devereux"? Why I think? I don't think, I hear ukrainian MELODIES in OVERTURE, not in rest of opera.

  • First: it's ukrainian melodies.

Second: I'm ukrainian, but my parents has born in Siberia. Learn about Russian empire and about "esiliati".

And Potocky is polish magnat, who was lived in ukrainian territory.

  • Спасибо огромное за полученное удовольствие!
