The specs on this camera are shocking, why not go for a nice Nikon D3X for a fifth of the price along with a lovely Canon 1D X. I do not understand the price of leica products. The only reason somebody would pay £10k+ for this camera is the build quality. But at the end of the day whats better, a camera that is sturdy and made out of Titanium and does not auto-focus, or a camera that is made out of plastic but takes some stunning photographs?

Funny thing is it's the leica/zeiss glass which makes that outstanding image quality and not the M9 body at all. The M9 is very basic and overpriced. It's the glass they should be posing with.

Leica doesn't even care what normal consumers think, and guess what? 40% of Leica stock is owned by Hermes. Leica cameras are always luxury items. @MrCOLTSR2 Well, while it could be simple, this camera could be perfectly usable and suitable for many people and circumstances. I prefer cameras that are less modern and closer to the "old fashioned" idea of camera that I have.

BUT, and this is very important, I wouldn't waste such a big amount of money on something that just CAN'T allow you to focus as accurately as a reflex, and which high cost is due to pretension rather than the camera itself. It's about status, like may other things.

Wonderful camera. I know it is an exclusive item, but I think I like the looks of the normal silver m9 better. It is more of a collectors piece. If I had the money, buy Titanium for display and normal for use. The m9 really is a great camera for use anywhere.

Leica's are expensive because they're built like Lamborghini's, with care and attention. The M9 Titanium is expensive because it's made of a solid block of titanium and needs special tools to make it.

Either way, it's a luxury item that only a very wealthy person with disposable cash can afford.

It's also discontinued from what I have been reading online.

@SlightlyWetFart For several reasons. It's a range finder camera. Each camera is mostly hand assembled. This particular Leica M9 is made out of Titanium parts. The glass LCD screen is scratch resistant. You can upgrade the parts so it's "future proof" and you're also paying for the name brand.

If you think the body is expensive then wait till you see how much some of their lenses are.

@sirbob809 i have owned an M4 for 10 years now and PERSONALLY prefer it to the M3. although it has a smaller viewfinder magnification than the M3 (but same as the M9!), it has a more user friendly rewind, 35mm framelines and far easier film loading. everything else is essentially M3, but at the end of the day it's your baby, so don't let me pollute your mind. ;)

just for the record i don't want an M9 titanium....but i would probably take the money... good luck!
