Wally Backman should have stepped up to coach the White Sox, really wished that the team gave him an offer. He is the best manager in all of professional sports. You guys should make another DVD series of him with the Bisons. I can kill a couple hours watching these videos.
Horrible job by the plate umpire of just walking away. As soonas he saw him take the slightest step towards the mound he should have jumped in front of him. The pitcher should have been dumped.
@oldaardvark What did you want the umpires to do? There is 2 of them, jump in the middle of 40+ players and try and break it up? They did what they are supposed to do, stand back, observe, take numbers for ejections. If you can, you may try to diffuse certain situations, but its the coaches and teammates jobs to settle things down. Watch in the majors when it happens, they may try to stop things right at the start, but when things take off, like this, they just stand back, and take numbers.
I thought maybe, since for the most part the players didn't seem to be much into fighting, the umps could take a shot at quieting things down. However, it's true that after things get beyond a certain level there is not much 2 umps can do.

Why go out to the mound and just stand there with the bat? Either you go after the pitcher or you don't. Just standing there makes you look weak.

The umpires did not seem terrribly concerned about restoring order.
