i saw him,hes good...but im not impressed by musicians who come from affluent families who make there kids start playing an instrument at 5!he just dosent do IT for me.
@solostrad Indeed, I couldn't agree more. I was able to meet him a year ago. Some time after the show I shook his hand and had a talk with him. He is the kindest man ever, and indeed. There's such a calm positive energy about him that you can't help but feel good yourself. It's really amazing. And, of course, his show was amazing!
in the music business the folks with the biggest egos are usually mediocre players... most the truly great players have a down to earth calmness as is apparent here with Julian... some people just can't handle or are intimidated/threatened by the truth... close your eyes and enjoy. be honest, open your heart, and take notes!!
some of you guys simply forget the most "sounding" point here. The guy is 21....even a comparison to Metheny etc. is some kind of honor from you sceptics.
hey blue monk..why dont u shut the fuck up... and if u know anything about metheny, he sounds nothing like him.. he also one of the nicest most humble cats ever

Ben Monder can eat Lage for lunch as can John Abercrombie, Metheny, Frisell, Malone, etc. This guy doesn't have an original concept. He sounds like a Metheny "clone."
Christ, give the guy some credit. I'm his age and not as bitter as some of you people, maybe it's because youre 50 and no where in life. Either way, there are plenty of embarassing stories of people who we reguard as jazz greats today.

avoid this MF like the plague, unless you want to die from boredom.saw him at yoshi's last tues nite.unbelievably, worst concert of my life.total bullshit.
Oh, this is wonderful. What a musician and a player! I've seen his Julian at 8 in the mid 90s...good for him...and good for us to know there will be many more years of great music from him.
He's a brilliant guitarist. Up there with Lenny Breau and Django, IMHO..

like baycman said, the biggest ego's are usually the worst players. Wich doesn't make one a good player when he's a nice modest guy..
This pointless bull^#%$ about who'can eat who for lunch.. give me a break!
To me, Julian seems to be a sensitive guy who does deserve some respect..

I can tell you don't know how to talk t anyone. What gave it away? Hmmm....probably the unnecessary cuss words and overall hostile attitude.
