  • He's a brilliant guitarist. Up there with Lenny Breau and Django, IMHO..

  • i saw him,hes good...but im not impressed by musicians who come from affluent families who make there kids start playing an instrument at 5!he just dosent do IT for me.

  • His tone is beyond incredible!

  • Very mature and well grounded. Very rare!

  • C'mon Emarcy Records. Get yer shit together. We'd link this EPK to the world if you gave us a better video quality.

  • I swear that twisty twat is flirtin' with his guitar...maybe thats how he gets it to sound so good.

  • Saw this, had to listen to Clarity again, such a great recording.

  • julian is the happiest person i have ever met. I dont think he can not smile

  • @solostrad I just met the dude in the blue note, amazing guy I'm so happy that there are guys like him keeping jazz alive

  • @solostrad Indeed, I couldn't agree more. I was able to meet him a year ago. Some time after the show I shook his hand and had a talk with him. He is the kindest man ever, and indeed. There's such a calm positive energy about him that you can't help but feel good yourself. It's really amazing. And, of course, his show was amazing!

  • like baycman said, the biggest ego's are usually the worst players. Wich doesn't make one a good player when he's a nice modest guy..

This pointless bull^#%$ about who'can eat who for lunch.. give me a break!

To me, Julian seems to be a sensitive guy who does deserve some respect..

  • Just met him in person @ Freight and Salvage in Berkely! Shook his hand and got his autograph! What a gifted individual and so humble!

  • Amazing coincidence. That Ray Charles tune was my first also.

  • omfg he performed at my school last month! he's amazing, so modest.

  • in the music business the folks with the biggest egos are usually mediocre players... most the truly great players have a down to earth calmness as is apparent here with Julian... some people just can't handle or are intimidated/threatened by the truth... close your eyes and enjoy. be honest, open your heart, and take notes!!

  • Here in Colombia, we are waiting for you!!! Please come, we guitar players need you as a teacher right now!!! hahaha!

  • some of you guys simply forget the most "sounding" point here. The guy is 21....even a comparison to Metheny etc. is some kind of honor from you sceptics.

So you can laugh about your own arrogance...

  • He's fantastic!

    And what a personality! :)

  • hey blue monk..why dont u shut the fuck up... and if u know anything about metheny, he sounds nothing like him.. he also one of the nicest most humble cats ever

  • I can tell you don't know how to talk t anyone. What gave it away? Hmmm....probably the unnecessary cuss words and overall hostile attitude.

  • wrong to the point of hilarious

  • You can't stand it that I'm right. That's what is funny.

  • I agree... he really is an inspiration. Can't wait to get his album :)

  • Christ, give the guy some credit. I'm his age and not as bitter as some of you people, maybe it's because youre 50 and no where in life. Either way, there are plenty of embarassing stories of people who we reguard as jazz greats today.

  • why are you talking to me? im not debating anything, i said people shouldnt be so bitter in judging his playing

  • Julian is such an inspiration to me.

  • Why was it so bad?

  • Hideously boring as hell.

  • dude, are you kidding? anyone with appreciation for music should give this guy some credit. he's really great.

  • gtfo if it's not your taste. not everyone loves him, but everyone should know that he's a musical wonder

  • yawn...

  • awesome man! the record is fantastic and you're such an inspiration!

  • Oh, this is wonderful. What a musician and a player! I've seen his Julian at 8 in the mid 90s...good for him...and good for us to know there will be many more years of great music from him.

  • good stuff. he's amazing

  • Effervescent.
