@will79601 the thing I hate about electronically stored music (i.e. Itunes, etc.) is that so much of the sound is lost. Honestly, I would have to say that our friend the vinyl 45 is still the best at preserving that. Unlike magnetic tapes, it is not subject to random corruption in the sound (although the acetate does disintegrate over time)... and no random skips b/c it's dirty like a cd!
I do love the way they sound.
And I'm still in highschool. My friends always say I'm old before my time...
This track pales in comparison to the vocal on the opposite side of the album. A hit like this hasn't graced our ears since this. We can all thank Cliff Nobles for this classic and his dance. He is a legend and the horse still gallops on! Love you Cliff ... the world does.
Many of the musicians on this would play on TSOP by MFSB about five years later.Cliff Nobles was the vocalist on the A side but the instrumental B side without Nobles' participation took off to reach # 2.Yet another worthwhile classic that those fools at KRTH in Los Angeles will not play.
But I read a writeup that explained how they want it that way. It's so when you are tuning up the dial you'll stop and listen (to the commercials) because you recognize it is KRTH and a song you want to hear will be along soon.
my high school band played this every football game back in the day (1981 graduate). love this song!

KRTH is a bunch of idiots. With our Mp3 And You Tube we have our self-designed stations. We don't need idiots playing My Girl 100 times a day.

I agree.Their playlist is alarmingly narrow.
What is it with this Elton John fetish?
Why does "You've Lost That Loving Feeling' by Hall and Oates get an inordinate amount of airtime?
Why is the only Roy Orbison track they will play 'Pretty Women'.?
Why is there hardly anything before 1964 except for "Louie Louie"; ""Do You Love Me?"; "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"; "One Fine Day".
The station is often unlistenable.
