  • it's really mainly done to cool their stomachs. we have a pond in the field and they will go in and do this exact same thing with no humans near them. also this is how some of them play in the water. that horse was not in any distress. his ears were forward or to the side and if they are really curious about most not all do a really heavy snorting at it

  • Sometimes they just seem to be having fun and the pawing often kicks water up under their belly, which probably feels good. If she is sticking her muzzle in the water up to her eyes she is apparently not afraid -- more curious. All of my horses have done this pawing at one time or another I think they do it in a body or water. It is playful and enjoyable behavior and helps them to cool off.

  • the horse doesnt like the water. that is why it does it.

  • @barrelracerr91 that horse loves the water....its hard to get him out most of the time

  • no one drowns =[

  • Its so cute :D

But you should change the title, No one gets drowned...

  • i love that black horse. that is the CUTEST thing i have ever seen.

  • LOLOLOL THAT BLACK HORSE IS CUTE!

  • Looks fun! xD

  • they paw the water to cool their bellies.

  • No they dont. Most of the time they are doing it to know whats under them, testing the water. Unlike that black horse who just likes the water.

  • Well they also do it to cool their bellies because when we were on a ranch in africa thats what we were told.

  • my QH does that then he lays down and rolls getting completly soaked then he has to go find some dirt to roll in so hes covered in mud and dirt

  • that sucked

  • that aws stupid no one drowned!

yeh my horse does that to and she loves the water shes just playin and loves to get me adn everyone around her soaked

  • horses paw like that when they like the water and want to lay down in it, lol i read it in a book, it definitaly doesn't mean they hate it

  • lol my pony loves to do that to me..she loves to soak me from head to toe...lol

  • When horses paw in the water it means they DON'T like it.

  • Umm i can say that your very wrong. i was riding my horse one day around the field checking up on the cows it wasn't that hot and i was letting her roam on her own when we got to the pond she walked in on her own, took a drink and started doing that. she was just being silly, my horse loves to swim, a little too much. we've got a pond that is over her head and she will swim it on her own and also paw at it when i'm not even on her.

  • it does not mean that there playing you don not now about horses there was no drowned cowboy

  • @pirouette987 you are wrong

  • ok that was so dum on second thought i love swimming on horse back i mean acually swimming out in the middle of a 12ft lake. not for long i let my horse go out as far as she wants if she dont want to go i make her at least up to her knee to get a drink and cool down a little then ill get of and jump in or ill take her over to the rope and stnad on her but then grab the rope and jump off lmao its so much fun

  • the horses are smarter than the riders look how one pounces the water...at least the horse had fun...and humor..likes to get his picture taken too...another life another life..

  • that was stupid

  • that person didnt drown

  • She drowned in water. In OTHER words the horse got the lady very wet

  • Um....actually a lot of horses paw the water just because they like to. Get some trail experience before you shoot your mouth off and criticize others, Hanna.

  • I'd love to do that well not mess about in the river but go on a big hack in the middle of nowhere.

  • i always do that lol, i got attacked by flying ants once when i went to the pond with and ice cream on my pony! lol

  • It just wants to roll!!

  • and at what time exactly was the cowboy drowned?

  • he is like"GET ME OUT OF HERE!!"

  • no there not u dumass

  • that chick is such and idiot she should know when a horse paws its about to roll!!!!

  • Not all the time mine just plays in it and my pony lays down with no warning

  • wierd

  • horse drowns cowGIRL! stupid

  • U guys looked like u were having fun, beautiful horse! But... were you drowning on its back, or did I miss that part?

    Please don't kill your horse...LOL

  • nah im ova it but she can be a bitch to me

  • nobody drownt

  • Duh.

  • ????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????

  • bridled, event riders etc. don't have slick, algae covered rocks for the horses to slip on.If you've ever walked thru a creek on foot you know how slippery it gets.I've busted my butt a few times.

  • .. Ughmm,, I didn't see a rider drown..

  • kaleopaka.- do you actually think event riders and professional XC riders take their feet out of the stirrups when riding through water?

and is it me or was their no rider drowned in that video??

  • You think the idiots would know 1st-never cross water with your feet in the stirrups incase he slips you'd get pinned & possibly dragged 2nd kick the horse don,t wait for him to laydown in the water on you!!duhhhhhh...

  • lol yeah when would a pro take their stirrups?

when would ANYONE takes their feet out?

    randomer

  • the first time i took my horse in the water he did the same thing! and then he never wanted to get out.. very cool!

  • My horse does that too! But he does it in any water. Even a little trickle from the hose in the wash bay and he goes into a pawing frenzy which can get annoying lol

  • cute :D the horse definitly like the splashings!

  • someone should take the time to train that black horse with lady in the red shirt on him to do spanish walk. he clearly has it in him. haha.
