Okay, so included in this trailer is footage from the "James Vance Vs. Judas Priest" trial. In which 2 young adults mixed alcohol, drugs and firearms, while listening to Judas Priest, and both attempted suicide. Afterwards, the parents of one of the boys sued Judas Priest on the basis that the song "Better By You, Better Than Me", whilst played at a modified speed, contained the phrase "Do It", which prompted their child to commit suicide. Look it up and decide.

@mastashaker916 The Judas Priest Trial is a landmark court case as part of the history of subliminal messaging because it was the first, (and only), time a rock band was not awarded 1st Amendment protection in a wrongful death suit. Similar lawsuits claiming rock music caused damage, (such as Ozzy's "Suicide Solution" case), have been throw out of court because lyrics are protected as free expression. The judge in this case concluded that subliminal messages are not protected as free speech.

ok, the difference between subliminal messaging and priming... seems to escape the authors of this documentary. look up the difference, i urge you! the predicted effects of subliminal messaging and imagery have never been successfully replicated in a laboratory experiment. Priming on the other hand is standard experimental methodology. And the advertising industry uses it to their advantage. So what? Priming has a limited influence on decision making. you're fine, americans. no worse than usual.

@IgniteTheMind will look up, thank you. however, to my knowledge, while subliminal messaging may influence the emotional state, it does not significantly influence decision making. that was my point. so flashes of uneasy pictures will make you uneasy, which will make you more susceptible to priming, which does influence your decision making and attitudes. but the over-all effect is weak, and it cancels itself out when you are aware of it. priming to fear is the real problem...

My college book says subliminals like word flashing and hidden objects dont work. Though I do acknowledge that the media is very powerful. Ads, celebrities, tv, music videos do a surprisingly well job telling people how they should think and be like with some kids-teens & lower thinkers in particular. Its monkey see monkey do, and they do it with praise for their product or idol and completely without question. They will defend their product or idol as if it was their mother and It disturbs me.

Particularly, as a college student. Do not take anything for face value. Do the research YOURSELF.  You'll see there are MANY studies that show the efficacy of subliminal messaging. In fact, GOOGLE "Howard Shevrin" or "Dr. Eldon Taylor" - you'll find numerous recent studies of theirs - BOTH were interviewed for our film

Even if we know what's going on, that doesn't protect us from the effect. Its still going to work! It simply shows that more research needs to be conducted.

But, after 7 years of research in making this documentary, I have found more than enough evidence, (lots of which we CITE in the film) to support my beliefs. I think this should be a TEDx talk or at least something that is brought to the attention of people in education. My friend saw the movie and said it revealed some really scary stuff that I can look out for now when I go shopping or watch t.v. and I’m noticing things I didn’t before. +Subliminals have very little impact on our broarder selections. For example if you're sitting in the cinema the chances are your more than likely already eating popcorn and drinking cola. Umm.. the experiment on subliminal messages mentioned in this video was DISPROVED! The scientist himself claimed to have FAKED the results! I'm not picking any sides, but that the documentary would state this false info shows how reliable it can be= ultimately, really biased! @Bluewing250 - yes there's a lot of disinformation and misinformation regarding the 1957 Experiment by James Vicary - which we address in the film - including that he later admitted to Advertising Age magazine 5 years later that he fabricated the results of that experiment. However, we also look at a number of other studies that have been performed since then that do show the efficacy of subliminal messaging on the subconscious mind.

@larthantos - We have a tendency to believe (due to our over-inflated egos), that we're above advertising tactics - that "everyone else" is the idiot - not me! Or to laugh it off, like "larthantos" did because we don't understand it. The fact is, there are lots of studies that PROVE people do things for reasons they're not aware of. We only use 5% of our conscious minds - the other 95% is acting on subconscious motivations. Plus, would advertisers spend millions of dollars if it didn't work?

Regardless of what the imagery of the subliminal message is, the fact remains that it is put there for a purpose. They hire psychologists to help with advertising. There are people that know a lot more about how your mind works than you do, and they are using it to their advantage to get your to buy their products. When people say we only use 10% percent of our brains, they are referring to the conscious mind. You're subconscious is more prominent than your conscious mind.
