  • This isn't screamo... :3

  • @TheTheCameron1996 LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL dude i know i was like "wtf?????"

  • "sitting in the cafe with fellow mobsters" music

  • i love the piano part <3

  • yeahh it's so fun playing it on the piano :)

    Whole album is a masterpiece

  • quiero las partituras en armonica :c

  • @pepasquidward

    no es armonica, es accordeon

  • The part from 1:42 to the end makes me wanna cry :(

  • I used to play this song with my grandpa, he doesn't know who Yann Tiersen is but he plays the accordion, I let him listen to this song and he liked it. When he was suffering from diabetes, he tried playing it with his accordion but was too weak to do it, he was persistent though and I couldn't help but to cry.

  • Really want to learn how to play the accordian now.

  • @eha005 too bad that's a melodica you're hearing

  • @aznminr123 why is that to bad? What I said was just a statement, and what do you know about what I was thinking at the time? Fucking know -it-all. No offence, but I'm a hater and stupido.

  • @eha005 For me it's always been the piano.

  • this song just makes me want to walk down a street smiling at everyone

    I dont know why

  • I have to see the movie again and again and again and again and....

  • @hohaveuvistAPM estas en toda la razon , son los 4:20 minutos mejor gastados de mi corta vida :) , es magia

  • love this band

  • comment peut-on ne pas aimer ?

  • je adore la dispute

  • BROTODO! Leee PANCH!

  • J'taime beacoup vous musique Amelie! <3

  • So, finally I've stopped bursting into cry when I listen to this song. But yesterday, when I sat & listened to this song with my dad, I told him, what happened in the film during this song, and well.. then came the tears.. It's starting to piss me off :')

  • @maaskeimorgen I know how you feel..

  • i love waltz'

  • I hate that under every video is written "insert random number" dont have a life.

But this time... I am not sure.

    This is great.

Not even describeable, it makes me fly

  • Sometimes I can't help but wonder how the brain of Yann Tiersen works, what he thought when he wrote this or that song. Where did he get the innspiration?

  • thumbs up if you got this video on the side when doing a gb dispute !

  • It's so sad it's so happy

  • The movie itself was so great and unforgettable already, but this music made me fall in love with the film, so deeply! I just love the sound...

By the way, what's the instrument used at the first part? Is it an accordion? Thanks in advance!

  • @linaseoyonpark I think it's a melodica.

  • It's so good because Tiersen created it from the soul.

  • When people compare this piece to chopin, they are elevating the music. Hoping people will listen and trust the music. Of course there are differences, but i feel there are commonalities.

They share a certain french flair tiersan uses and executes well. I love it

  • It's Bretodeau. Not Bredoteau. :)

  • Dominique Brotodeau XD

  • I'll never stop crying after 1:00... :'(

  • @AdrianBandic

I am that way when the piano playing starts..

  • One of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard

  • Je manque d’adjectifs... Très beau.

  • gran pelicula surrealista

  • great!

  • ???

  • I love Yan teirson.. but in all honesty his music is average unless you play it with feeling.. unless when you play it and a tear forms in your eye!

  • @Gregority

I believe emotions, passion, does something to the music, that's just logic ..

    - But Yann Tiersen owns no matter what.

    & I don't think it's average. At all. (o:

  • it is magic... Когда я слышу его композиции я чувствую любовь и боль где-ТО В ОБЛАСТИ СЕРДЦА..ОН ПРОСТО ГЕНИЙ...

  • no music is better than yann tiersen ´s !

  • God I love this music. And the movie. And, Amélie.

  • Yann Tiersen's music aren't difficult to play on the piano, but the amount of feeling required to make the songs sound good makes them a bit more challenging, which is awesome.

  • @poopdude YES poopdude YES.

  • @poopdude plus for someone who's starting on the piano, it makes these songs a real treasure!

  • Roll on Brighton 5th of November :D

  • couldn't agree more with @anderaina...appreciate different kinds of music without comparing them or saying which genre is better is what we all should do.

  • ahhh... the memories...

  • I think where as beethoven chopin liszt were more in the realm of greater since people were trying to push the envelope with the piano....tiersan is not about technical brilliance and virtousity but rather simple yet powerful too.

  • my favourite from tiersen

  • So simple. So complicated also...

  • you don't have to see the film... only listen to the music, and you know what the film is about. nevertheless you must see the film. i cried the whole film because its beauty itself.

  • Rispondi a questo video...

  • I could listen to this all night long. it's quite enchanting.

  • goose BUMPS

  • simplemente magnifico

  • simply beatiful!

  • whe i hear this i remember the scene in the movie where the old man remembers his youth, so beautiful, its amazing how the music or the smells can bring back all the memories...

  • Everytime i'm sad and depressed I find myself humming this song inside my head.

  • @Andrew87florek

you just do not know how you must live

  • Ahhhhh. Gone were the days of our youth and innocence...... This fits the theme perfectly.

  • damm...can i cry?i love this song looks pretty sad

  • this would be a good song to skate to for an artistic program, you could be a mime that thinks he is being followed or something & then fines out its a pppy or something lol

  • so beautiful.

  • BRAVO BRAVO!

  • really moving...no words to say...

  • Tout simplement magnifique:) Tout comme le film d'ailleurs!

  • that accordian sound in the beginning wrings my heart out for some reason. very emotional piece of music ..i think :)

i love the film as well <3

  • beautiful. the first part (before the piano) is actually a melodica

  • love the piano part..

  • I wonder if the movie would've been such a success without such an amazing score... My all time favorite French movie.

  • thay've so badly enhanced her eyes on that image to make them look HUGE

    0_0

love this film though. and the music is so relaxing...

  • @burtv1610 the eyes are enlarged in such a way to portray innocence that of a childs :) (film class ftw)

  • Why are you guys comparing Chopin with Tiersen or any other musicians?

Just appreciate the beautiful music that they had written.

There are some days that I feel like listening to Vivadi or Guns n Roses or Tiersen or lady gaga or those youtube composers.

    I wouldn't compare those artists.

  • when you compare artists, you compare the techniques that they use... You don't have to find whose better or not, it's art it's not a competition, but you can find similarities or differences, and that's realy cool and interesting for a musician...

  • @anderaina

Finally, someone who appreciates differing genres of music!!!

  • @anderaina yeah, on youtube are composers with MPC (for example) ,wich are far beteer then some of the stuff/shit on mtv and such

  • @anderaina i know what you mean. the comparison is used like advertisement or marketing. I love this music!

  • @anderaina Agreed - and you can by no means compare Chopin and Tiersen, they are of completely different genres, just as Lady Gaga and Guns 'n' Roses (e.g.)

  • @anderaina best comment ever :D

  • i honestly love Yann Tiersen's work. It is so different and quite beautiful. &chopin is.. great as well, but their artwork isn't simmilar. u kno?? &Tiersen has the talent to make you feel deep emotions, well for me it does. &chopin does too, but i dont feel anything wen listening to his songs. idk. :(

  • @dandilla8D They aren't similar at all.

  • this music makes me think about things i have long forgotten. love it!

  • This song makes me feel zo happy! Maybe it sounds sad for you, but I love the way of showing the emotion. This could make me get teers in my eyes, but only happy teers! Chappeau!

  • My favorite piece from the movie, the comptine is good too !!!

  • @BreathtakingSadness yes it is .. i can play both pieces .. :) there beautiful..

  • you bet!

And good for you that you can play them :)

I can just play the comptine, I'm learning la dispute,,

  • kinda reminds me of Erik Satie, I love this song

  • Simplicity is the final achievement. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art.

    Frederic Chopin

  • I am a huge Chopin fan, I have a band tattoo on my left arm which is actually a short excerpt from a certain ballade of his, I'm also a big tierson fan, and have uploaded myself playing two compositions of his. That being said I do think that Yann Tierson can be compared to Chopin in that Yann's music is has somewhat of that haunting beauty that Chopin's has, and they both make pieces with alot of emotion in them. Its only fair to say though that Yann is very far below Chopin's skill.

  • Personally, I think there's no comparison between Chopin and Yann Tiersen. Chopin was much too obsessed with technical complexity, while Tiersen relies on patterns, but achieves beauty that Chopin could only dream of. Chopin was too proud of a person, and almost threw away Fantasie Impromptu because it sounded too generic. Blasphemy, it was his best piece, and I think that this proves that as a composer Tiersen stays connected to his pieces while Chopin was a bit stiff, and unconventional...

  • you must understand, what Chopin intended to express in writing That impromptu may not have have come through in the finished product. However beautiful to you and I, it would seem a complete failure to him in that case. In his time music was like the movies are now, why wouldn't he take his writings , and their " Technical Complexity" very seriously, especially considering he did have to perform everything he wrote in front of thousands. As a performer and composer, Yann is no comp for Chopin.

  • Well they're just not comparable. They have two completely different styles

  • I love Tiersen but I wouldn't dream of comparing him with Chopin, Chopin is a much more accomplished composer and he's sophisticated and revolutionary. Tiersen makes music that touches you with it's simplicity and beautiful sounds.

  • so sad to me.

  • wtf!

    you bitch!

  • while this music sounds really nice and pretty, you can't put any of those other 'musicians', including satie, even in the same ball-park with chopin.

  • You can't compare Yann Tiersen with Frederic Chopin,.. O.o

  • @ilonaegg

I agree with you but Yann is ok :D

  • Of course he is !

  • I really love Yann Tierson but i don't knox if we can compared him withe chopin ... But you're free to think what you want :)

J'adore ce morceau, il a veritablement fait un superbe "travail" sur Amélie Poulain, tous les morceaux qu'il a composé pour ce film sont magnifique. Ma préférée reste et restera Comptine d'un autre été*.*

  • as i hear the music...i m envisioning a sad little girl holding out her hand for coins.......melancholic.......well all these are part of our life....

  • how do these STUNNING pieces come into his mind? they evoke emotion in everyone, it's hard not to smile and get emotional ;) <3

  • Compared with Chopin? Are you kidding me?

  • Elle me fait rêver cette chanson et j'en ai besoin

  • 3:26

  • Great piece!!! Love it.

  • increible

  • Don't be sad. Life goes on. And it's getting better. Sure. <3

  • La musique de ma Vie . A música da minha vida . I can watch all my life back earing this music. Merci Yann Tiersen . Genial .

  • ...and be sure i'm watching you while you're doing it .

    love you so much!

    Potinha

  • Je l'adore

  • Todos mis recuerdos junto a ti en una pieza te amo tanto (rata)

  • simply beautiful

  • perhaps one of the most dazzling pieces to play and listen to. :]

  • Hey, I really l o v e this. <3

  • one of the most beautiful songs ever..

  • So good!

  • reminds me my old love

  • I love this scene in the film, I cry almost everytime

  • When the guy remembers his childhood, and he loses all his marbles because his pockets rip and the teacher boxes his ears?

I cry every time I see that scene too.

  • Yeah thats the one :)

  • It's just so emotional! I mean, I think everyone can fully relate to it because I think everyone has felt the shame, anger, embarrassment of having the teacher scold you in front of the others. Then, you've got the scene in black and white (signaling a flashback/memory), this poignant music playing, and the cinematography and angling of the scene just makes your heart break for the kid, as well as for your past self. It's emotionally overwhelming.

  • Absolutley. Well said, you explained it very well. I agree 100%

  • pianopart sounds awesome

  • ist das nich schön?

  • nicht wirklich ^^

  • i love this music!

  • reminds me of french class in eva when we learned the phrase je suis triste lol

  • J'adore cette chanson. Même si elle est un peu triste..tout de même c'est vraiment magnifique.

  • Yann Tiersen is the new Waltz King
