  • Were you catch them at?

  • What specific bait is best to use catching stingrays. We have house up north of you in Gulf Harbours by Anclote and we see a lots of them in the canals out to the gulf

  • @alfred030764

We use snatch hooks now that are weighted. Give it a shot.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • isn't that a bat ray or cownose ray

  • I have a rule, I never f*ck with stingrays and sharks. I just cut the line and that's it...

  • you shouldn't handle a stingray through those "holes on the head like a handle". They are called spiracles and you can damage them quite easily. Without them they cannot ventilate their gills.

  • Where was this?

  • I like watching this show cause they laugh like a bunch of little girls all the time. lol.

  • great

  • why dont u just castnet them

  • what kind of jig you use? where can you buy them and is galveston good ray fishing?

  • hi... was it better and safety if we cut the stung while placing the sting ray below facing up?

  • Nope, just break them off just like this video.

  • what part of the fish you use for bait for shark?

  • that ....was so sad to watch! poor sting rays! :(

  • aw lil cow nose rays are so cute! wuts the "bait" part of ur vid?

  • the "bait" part? LoL! Thats the part where you use them as bait for catching sharks...lol!

  • @TxFisherman3 or ya can just broil em in some lemon butter and certain spices :)

  • they are cute tho...

  • hee hee flap flap im a birdie

  • what kind of jig do you use, and where's the best kind of place to fish them at?

  • 1/4 oz and up

You just have to keep an eye out for them.

  • Do Sting ray fight alot when you reel them in?

  • Do you actually eat the sting rays? Be a bit chewy i'm thinking.

  • Its really yummy when you put sambal sauce and sour spicy thai dip separately.Eat that here in Singapore.Yum.

  • They eat everything in Singapore.

  • maybe its because everyone in the world is ''there''

  • what kind of jig did your use?

  • 1/4 oz Gotcha Jig Head

  • after the barb is removed are they safe to handle. with kids

  • I would say yes. But it is always up to the individual.

    Capt Ben

  • Ben: I enjoy watching your clips here on youtube but I think you may want to re-think telling people to land "stingrays" by hand like this. What happens if some guy tries to grab a southern stingray like this and gets a barb thru his hand? The southerns barb is further down its tail and they can whip their tail and stick their barb the length of their body & then some. You may want to defferntiate between the cownosed and the more dangerous southern stingray. Killed the croc hunter right?

  • @wreckanchor you should be careful handling any stingray.. you should always be aware of there barbs and how they can use them

  • that's a cow-nosed ray is it not?

  • Yes sir.

  • This brings back memories o fmy first ray...a nice quick hour long fight(woulda been shorter if we used a watercraft)

  • Nice video Captain,

How do you prepare and present the ray as bait?

  • Just check out the 1,000 pound Hammerhead show.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • capt, what reel aer ya using?

  • I have been using US Reels for them.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Looks like fun on light tackle. :-)

  • dont those things taste like scallops?

  • Capt., I don't know that much about the rays. Are you saying that the tails can't hurt you at all except for a little whipping? Just the barb you removed.

  • That's right.

  • so the technique is find a school of them and snag?? I found out the hard way.. Using a net and catching a few.. Anyways once i was at sebastian inlet, I saw a ray with pokie dots.. Didnt know it was an illegal species! A spotted eagle ray which is federally protected, I caught one 100-150lbs took 5 people to bring it up from the catwalk and was released right afterwards when a gentleman told me that it was illegal. Anyways i caught the smaller one of the 2 which i think is a male.

  • Can't mess with the Eagle Rays. LOL

  • Snagging works but for catch-and-release use pieces of freshly cut Threadfin Shad, Mussels, or Clams on jigheads under bobbers and sight-cast. I release them tho

  • repeat?

  • Capt chancey,

i was wondering how u use a jig to lure a ray?

  • i would be more freaked out cuz of steve irwin

  • I know what you mean. Thanks for watching.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben
