It just feels like he still has an unfinished business in F1. I always thought he would be multiple world champion. Probably 99.9% of F1 fans wants him back!! Maybe not... but surely anyone who truly loves this sport.
I agree that Alonso and Hamilton are good but all you alonso or lewis fans gotta admit that they got pretty F*ck*ng lucky. Renault came from total bottom to a winner carm, fernando was luckily there, and lewis came to mclaren when the car finally was reliable and fast at the same time, so if you remember how the mclaren was from davids, mikas and kimis time till lewis came along you know what I mean... And correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Lewis had only one technical retreat in his F1 career?
i don't think Alonso won two championships by luck. i mean, he did outdrive both Fisico and Trulli. he may not be as fast as Kimi, but he sure as hell is one steady driver
Alonso did outdrive Trulli in 2003, but not in 2004. When Trulli left Renault in the end of the season, Trulli had one more point than Alonso, the only Renault win of that season and had more pole positions (2 to 1).
Kimi "should be" at least a 3 times champion if you remember 2003 and 2005.. He was then definitely the fastest man on track but the mercedes engine just couldn't take it..D
@McLarenMercedes Or in other words I was referring to an interview where Murray asked Bernie about his best memories 'since buying McLaren'. Bernie answered 'I don't remember buying McLaren' and then Murray had a confused look on his face that was pure gold. It can be found in some of the 'best of Murray' vids. :)
Yeah, I know Murray Walker is known to make all kinds of crazy comments. I think he also said something about the the driver that collects the most points the entire season usually end up being world champions. Usually? Or it was something like that?
I first got to hear Murray Walker when I watched the BTCC races on tv back in the mid 90's. He was fun to hear and a lot better to out tired and bland commantators on Swedish television. Our commantators are dull.
@McLarenMercedes Hehe, yeah, most points is good if you want to become champion, good point of Murray. ;) I live in Sweden and am tired of the commentators too. Wish they would at least let Lill-Lövis commentate for once, since he's sometimes in the paddock anyway. And I'm tired of how Janne has favorites and stuff. He can be quick to criticise some drivers before he even knows what's happened too.
for some years??? its only during 2005 and he was let down by reliability issue !!! cldnt beat schumi??? i dunno hw u ppl come out with these comments !! it clearly proves u r seein f1 for a 2 years or so
Kimi is overrated. he's good but not a legend like many of his fans think -_- . He also got many fans because he crashed at mclaren during a tight championship battle and people felt for him. He is good but nothing special.
Do you want stats? I can give you some stats and they're not incredible. Like I said. he's not a legend he's not the best in the world. He's good but give it a rest.
you say kimi is nothing special? if you can compeat with schumacer and win over him somtimes that makes him special and alomst win 2005 vm with a car that was good but not had the reliability. and then he come to ferrari and have a good car with good reliability what happend he wins the first year that make him special fuck head
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Montoya competed more with schumacher what do people say about him? you're a fuck head. Kimi raikkonen is good I said. but not the best in the world like someone else said nor a legend. and he lucked into a wc with ferrari. alonso or Hamilton should have won but it was not to be. shit happens
maybe montoya competed more but kimi gave schumacher more run fore hes money raikkonen was just 2 points behind schumi in 2003 vm i dont remember the year. and montoya was not even close to beat schumi in that way like kimi did.
a record 10 fastest laps both in 2005 and 2008 is nothing special?
only Schumacher had 10 fastest laps in 2004, driving a totally superior Ferrari no less
In the all time fastest laps list only Schumacher and Prost have more fastest laps than Raikkonen. Schumacher was 7 time champ, Prost 4 time champ. Raikkonen only 1 time champ. Tell me what's wrong here?
When it coms to raw speed Raikkonen is one of the fastest that has ever competed in F1.
Look at the big picture. A fastest lap doesnt win you championships. for one lap he hit his apex and corner speeds of exit and entry perfectly. well done Kimi -_-
Can you imagine JV's reaction over the radio when the pitwall crew told him the "New kid" almost beat his Qual time? Probably went something like:
"WHAT?!? You're guys are joking, right?"

Only 2 F1 drivers have ever scored points in WRC. Carlos Reutemann is one, Kimi Raikkonen the other.

I think in a way he proved his potential in the last few season.
True he didn't win the championship, but in 2008 he managed to set the most fastest laps in the season, plus in the year he won it in 2007

Lol Kimi had the 3rd fastest car in 2003 compared to Schumacher fastest Ferrari and still came within 2 points to win WDC.
Nobody has come close to winning the championship in the 3rd fastest car, not even Kubica last year.
Ferrari were super dominant in 2004 and Mclaren were nowhere, still Kimi overtook and demolished Schumi in the driver's circuit SPA.
(Now he is officially the King of Spa)
And obviously in 2005 he totally demolished Schumi.

It proves above anything somebody has got racepace and raw speed, most prefer that to for istance Heidfeld's safe and cruising style.
you see most drivers are just fast on some type of circuits whereas they are not on others, Massa for instance.
People loved Gilles Villeneuve and Ronnie Peterson for their raw speed, since they were entertaining to watch. Both of those deserved to be champion.
