Bend the nail, then re-bend it. Done.

The slots are way too big and the nail should be much longer - with the head and tip nearly touching either end. (very easy).

1) First make the block out of a softwood 2) put the block in boiling water 3) Use a clamp to squeeze the one end where the head of the nail is. 4) Keep it clamped, drill holes then insert nail 5) Take off clamp and re- boil.

If anyone has a solution that does not involve distorting the wood or nail - your xxcking liars.

@Brajeshwar Ther is lots of videos on the net and people telling how its done. Put it in boiling water and clamp the wood untel it compacts enough to drill a hole and put the nail in. Its a realy cool trick. You should look up the cube inside a cube trick. Thats cool too.

easy....put one end in boiling water for abaou 10 mins,take it to a vise and squeeze the hot wet end down and leave it in the vise for an hour.take it out of the vise,drill holes,insert nail,then piu end back in boiling water for 5 mins and the end will expand back to it's original size......

"It hasn't been bent or twisted"? I'm not sure this was an intentional insult to our intelligence, but it's plain to see that at some point the wood was softened to some extent by a long soaking and compressed so the nail could fit. The video response to this clip shows it all ;).

No... he's not lying... it looks VERY impossible, and even touching one makes you feel like it can't be done... but I have friends (I grew up in Grass Valley actually...) who can take the nail out and put it back in no problem... no matter how much I ask though, they won't tell me how they do it.

I fully disagree with him because simple logic says that it's very clear that something was manipulated. Since the nail isn't going to be softened and bent around the wood, something had to be and that something is the wood itself. Regardless of what he or people in Grass Valley or anywhere says, the wood was soaked for a long time, bent or similarly altered, the nail slid in and the wood being reset and left to dry in its new state. Had I the tools, I would build one to prove it ;).
