or you can pick up the widget in the dashboard hold on to it and press dashboard button

A much easier way is to go onto terminal (this is already on your mac) and type in defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES. If you don't like it replace YES with NO.

After you do this hit return then type in killall Dock.

To get them off your desktop faster hold command and click the black X in the top left of the widget

BTW these widgets will go on top of all applications and it gets annoying.

I mostly use i stat pro, sticky, translate, dictionary, plasmatune, battery life, and convert. those are the once I normally use!
