Wonderfull film! I guess it's good that her Mom got a break for awhile? I was living almost the opposite path while this was filming, so it arouses bittersweet memories of a good kind. Phillip's sense of humor was just fine.
Great film! There's absolutely no reason why this, or Wender's "Kings of the Road" shouldn't be available on DVD, but alas, they aren't. So thanks for posting!
i enjoyed it. it was good, intelligent, not sentimental in a hollywood way. but it still could've had a little more emotion - alice's friendship w/philip should've grown more - and we never got to philip's conclusions about (american) cities. the style, full of traffic noise+modern metaphors, is good - but expanding on the friendship+on winter's conclusions from his travels wouldn't have hurt or changed the style of the film any. it would've made it even better.
i dont think dwelling on the article winter was writing would have added anything to the film. wenders wasnt making a documentary. besides it was obvious his conclusions were negative. as far as the relationship i think it rang true and not sentimental. this is a film not a movie. there is a difference.
Cracking film! Really enjoyed it

Wenders deeply influenced by De Sica and Douglas Sirk. A real treat.
Thanks for posting.

This is the blueprint for so many art movies that came after. Simple, honest and yet elegaic.
