  • Everyone's such an uncle tom-wannabe with their "no sand!" (cu's they read it on the internet, and now they think they appear educated by posting "no sand" on youtube) Experienced breeders use sand sometimes, despite it's rep. It comes down to age and behaviour of gecko as well as type of sand. It's not a black or white issue ppl

  • Sand is a no-no

  • The temps should be 90 degrees on the hot side and about.80 on the cool side and it is.not a good idea to use sand at all if anything use reptile carpet or paper towel

  • What should the temperature be

  • Didn't another of your videos completely contradict this video? I think that both the one for substrates and housing did.

  • Sand is not always bad like she said just wait till they are a little bigger and TRY it, it can cause impaction but I have had sand in my terrarium for 2 years

  • You "experts" are so smart

  • What an expert' sand and any loose substrate will probably give impaction .

  • calcium sand is easy to digest, bull crap

    she doesnt know anything

  • Wait so calci sand is bad FUK I have 2 geckos somebody plz message me if calci sand is really bad thanks

  • @MRKiwiBirdzzz all sand is bad for your geckos because they could swallow some and they cant digest it so it will hurt or even kill them

  • @MRKiwiBirdzzz

depends on shape of sand particles (digestible or not for reptile in case). Only use sand if you're sure what type it is

  • HELL NO NO FUCKIN SAND IT CAN KILLLLLL THEMMM

  • Girl ur fukin retarded, first u say sand is bad. It can cause impaction, and also build up on the toes, but u still use it. Reptile carpet, and just plain paper towel are the best substrates. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.

  • Theres barely any soil!

  • when companys say that they have a calcium sand and its easy to digest, ITS A SCAM!!!!! all sand is bad especialy man made because they are cubes.

  • is this chick stupid ... !? ive watched this twice and now shes just twice as dumb ... shes like it can cause impaction but i use it ?! WTF check my vids out guys i have like no views lol imma post more cuz i just got a neww one :]

  • I thought sand kills the animal

  • sand gets in their digestional tract and heat lamps can cook them alive!

  • Sand is the worst substrate to have u dumb bitch

  • do you need a light cuz i have limited funds right now and i cant get one well i am 15 after all and i have a heat pad so will the heat pad do or i need a light and were would i put the heat pad on the tank

  • @tonybrode have a UTH [under tank heater] for the heat pad. It should be no more then 2/3 of the cage. They don't really need a light but I have one anyways. It's a black light. They do not need UVB lights. So all in all, the heat pad should do enough.

  • is it ok to use multch

  • @tonybrode No. They don't live on that stuff. That's for tropical lizards. For a leo use a reptile carpet, paper towels, or slate [if you fear it getting too hot from the UTH put a reptile carpet under the slate tiles].

  • sand kills geckos and most reptiles except for the huge ones like adult iguanas also calci-sand is even worse since it tempts the gecko to eat it dont use it i know it looks good but you get repticarpet, tiles, paper towel or even newspaper. also use atleast a 10 gal for a gecko preferably a 15+ gal because geckos live longer the more exercise they get.

  • sand killed my berded dragon to :(. So use reptie carpet

  • wow sand kills leo geckos.

  • why would you risk killing a animal you love?

  • a 10 gallon aquarium is good i havea 10gallon and my gecko is fit

  • this tank´s just ugly and too small! read a book before get the animal you want!

  • Omg she really needs to stop makeing these videos. Her bearded dragon video sucked so bad and i fell really sorry for this leopard gecko, and the bearded dragon...

  • lady get your facts straight b4 u go telling ppl anything!

  • 8I

  • horrible advice

  • Idiot calci sand is so bad for any lizard. I have used sand for years and none got impacted. When I feed crickets, I put them in a sperate container with no substrate and put the crickets in there. And I feed all the worms with feeding tongs. So there's not really a way they will eat the sand. But with calci sand.... Easily digestible my ass! And the leos WILL eat it if there low on calcium. I just want to punch her in the face!

  • i see her being the one that tried to dedicate her life to reptiles but failed....

  • Comment removed

  • All what you say is FALSE!!!

  • yeh this woman is useless. ive seen her care facts on acouple differant reptiles and most of her advice could be fatal to your critters. you would be better off not watching her videos

  • you cant use any substrate like that u have to use paper or reptile carpet and ur skull hide can cut him up expert villige dont know shit

  • you cant use any substrate like that u have to use paper or reptile carpet and ur skull hide can cut him up

  • whats the maximum amout of leos i can have in a 20 gal long please reply

  • this is the worst advice ever, do not use sand as substrate, even calcium sand is ont completely digestable and will eventually cause impaction.

and a 10gallon terrarium is too small, along with your arms, eat more, youll look better.

  • @MrElliotGear 10 gal is min for 1 so your wrong there but ur right about the sand

  • this bitch is retarded

  • she put eveything combined to kill the animal

  • Expert village = fail

  • wow this person is a dipshit

  • how much is *cm* in one gallon ? please somebody help me :D

  • o ya but carpet looks like shit

  • DONT USE SAND!!!!!USE REPTILE CARPET

  • yes....... ofcourse sand kills.... thats why you find loads of leopard geckos dead on the top of the sand in the dessert... yes, i am taking the piss... sands fine, its what their used to??

  • @TheZomVarrucktGenius youdont find loads of leopard geckos dead on the sand in the desert because they dont live on sand in the desert, anyone who is intelligent knows that they dont live in fucking dunes, they live on rocks

  • Don't use any lose bedding like sand of that other crap by the water dish callcium sand is bad too. Anything lose will kill any reptile over time

  • @MegaSierra123 no it wont, it depends on the gecko, mine were raised on coco fiber and peat moss, no problems at all, but impaction from sand after a month,, they are fine now though,, and still on eco eatrh

  • @comanderkuddles oh ok ya I guess its ok as long as there has not been a problem yet. Also it could be that the coco fiber is big so the gecko can not get it in his/her mouth. And the peat moss is fine sometimes its used for baby leos bedding.

  • @MegaSierra123 yea, the cocofiber is small enough to be eaten, but i guess it goes through their digestive system easier so its alot harder to get impacted from it,(but it stinks) i love peat moss for them

  • @comanderkuddles oh and also he/she could be spitting out the coco fiber because they dont like the taste. And also if the gecko was raised on the coco fiber there is also a lower chance of impaction

  • @MegaSierra123 oh check out my channel type in "intro and leopard gecko intro" and you should get my vid its the 4th one.

  • @MegaSierra123 lol i have seen her spitting out coco fiber before lol it funny, leo was raised on peat moss, but thats similar to eco earth(coco fiber) so she is used to it, im not sure about my other leo, i got her from tiki tiki reptiles at the phoenix reptle expo last year and they didnt say anything about what substrate she was on

  • @comanderkuddles ya lol! Ya it must be that they don't like the taste of it. I didn't know what kinda bedding your gecko was on as a baby. I have seen many people raise babys on paper towels and if he was on peat moss then he wil do fine. but is he was raised on paper towels then coco fiber might not be the best thing.

  • @MegaSierra123 i dont think it was paper towels, the breeder had them on a loose white substrate, it wasnt sand though,

  • @comanderkuddles oh ok ya it does not sound like baper towels inless they were shreaded

  • @MegaSierra123 yea, i dont remember exactly what it was, but lllreptile was sellin big bags of it, it might have been shreaded paper towels, it was white, solid wite, it was that carefresh ultra white pet bedding, i just found it as i was typing this

  • @comanderkuddles oh ok ya

  • oh my god this woman is dumb as dirt. they are from arid rock and mudlands. just because they are labeled as desert species dosent mean they come on sand. antartica is a desert. a desert is just a vast barrin land that is dry with few vegitation. they do not come on sand. subsrate shouldnt be loose. it should be reptile carpet.

  • @LeOpardGeckoKid9 i dontlike reptile carpet, it is absolutely awful, when i had i, my leos teeth would get stuck o it when she lunged for a cricket

  • @comanderkuddles yes i know it happens sometimes but still its safer

  • ..... someone please save those poor geckos from this woman.... she shouldn't be allowed near one.... Sand can but won't always kill gecko, be smart and use Repti Carpet. Other then that she just sounds retarded about the subject

  • Lemme get that pussy! Oh and sand does kill

  • Sand won't necessary cause impaction... Sometimes it does, yeah, and I understand u if u don't wanna take that risk. But it's nothing worse than bark... Bark can kill ur leo to!

  • Kuch** flat chested **kuch!

  • they survise because the sand is rounded in the dessert unlike the hand made stuff its squared

  • never use sand never ever use calsium sand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • can someone tell me what the best size tank is for 1 gecko. some people say 10 gallons is more than big enough, while others say your need at least a 20 gallon or bigger. ive found 2 tanks, but not sure what to get. 1 is 24 by 15 by 12" and the other is 30 by 15 by 12". im not getting the gecko until july or when ive done my room out. but i want to get the tank and lid next month

  • @wolverine1865 10 gallon of more will be fine

  • Sand can cause impaction and can kill the leopard gecko.

  • Fail

  • GET BEECH CHIPPINGS SAND KILLS THATS A LOAD OF SHIT

  • the small sand is fine as it gets through thier digestive system easy

  • sand does kill use repticarpet its beast !!!

  • @ajhunt61 No, the only time sand kills is when the reptile eats it and you can avoid that by feeding them their crickets, worms etc. with tongs instead I have: 2 Bearded Dragons, 2 Leopard Geckos, and 1 Alligator gecko all on sand and they have been alive for a very long time

  • @ajhunt61 ove the way you say beast lol

  • @ajhunt61 yeah i agree sadly i lost a leopard gecko due to calci sand

  • she is correct you can keep them like this

  • The tank is not too small for a gecko thats young. Using sand wont kill your gecko if its not eating in its tank. Some choose to feed in another tank.

  • Boo urns lady. Booo urns.

  • fuck, this cage is too small what are u talkin about?!!

  • @moteee1996 it should be longer... not tall...

  • @moteee1996 Shut up. You have no idea what your talkin about.

And everyone that liked your post is dumb too.

    DEF A LEOPARD NOOB

  • @moteee1996 i am using a 7.5 gallon right now i am going to upgrade soon its to small

  • @dryfirexx Geckos dont crap? Are you serious? :|

  • Comment removed

  • the other leopard gecko vids ( the ones with the guy who has the beard) are waaaaaaaaay more helpful than this crap

why is she using sand ? IT KILLS!!!

  • yeah you should not use sand geckos are from the desert desert is not full of sand it is all rocky!

  • yeah you should not use sand geckos are from the desert desert is not ful of sand it is all rocky!

  • i have bin using sand for ever and my gecko is happy i have no truble with it

  • this video is gay

  • RetardVillage

  • guys instead of sand use a different substance, such as wood chips or ground up shells.

  • my bearded dragon got very sick and risked death once because of TOO MUCH calcium from that sand that the petstore suggested.. end result, half of the cage had sand and the other had soft green turf that wouldnt and couldnt get accidentally eaten or torn up by claws. another thing thats bad with using JUST sand is the fact that it caused too much friction on his hands and feet causing irritation that we didnt notice but the vet did. USE 50% CALCI-SAND AND 50% TURF OR A SOFT SAFE ALTERNATIVE!!

  • @P34V3Y7 THis is for Gecko's retard

  • @luisdog619 first off... im only trying to be helpful... second, ANY reptile can get too much calcium... how ignorant are people these days? really?? i just gave advice from personal experience with reptiles over the years and i was insulted?? whatever man, enjoy trolling people on youtube "luisdog619" because it seems its all youre good for

  • At the Exotic Veterinary Clinic I work at we recommend recycled paper products becuase they are non-toxic, easily digestable and odor absorbent. We also recommend paper towels, newpaper, and the only problem with terrarium carpet is the that it can be difficult to sanitize. Otherwise terrarium carpet is my first choice for my geckos. I use care fresh substrate for my savanah monitor.

  • no wook products should be used due to oils that can case repiratory irritation and can be accidently ingested while chasing insects causing a foreign body obstruction. Sand may not be a problem, even with your gecko swollowing it, but calsium sand in large enough amounts will clump together causing a blockage in the stomach. The woman in the video even admits impactions can happen from sand. tho I use terrarium carpet it can be difficult to sanitize; I use a 1:9 bleach to water solution.

  • natural design? Wats a fucking dino skull doin in there

  • @MegaZac77 well the dino skull is natural..... about 50 million years ago lol

  • she is talking about geckos she is using calsum sand so shut the fuck up wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhi like your video

  • she is talking about geckos she is using calsum sand so shut the fuck up wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • bullshit, u suck!

  • yeah calcium sand or any sand is bad because geckos CANNOT digest sand, and when they want to eat calcium they will eat the sand and become impacted and then possibly die. When diving for prey they will ingest some sand and over time that will also impact the. USE RETILE CARPET!

  • is sawdust ok?

  • @KLSmovies no! i wouldnt even use sand because either of those will impact a gecko which will lead to its death. use reptile carpet it comes in many different colours, is safe, and easy to clean.

  • @0NEVERHIDE0 i said sawdust because my local pet shop has diffrent bedding to choose from

  • @KLSmovies yeah well sawdust is not very good, along with impaction it could cause respitory problems. Sometimes people use a type of wood shavings for snakes, but it should not be for geckos. I actually work at a pet store

  • okay if im right everybody has been telling me that sand can cause impaction even that kind can so your probly just stuck up in the head

  • is um normal soil ok???

  • she is dumb as fuck get the man with the beard!

  • @ozzdb you mean my dad?

  • If you want to breed, you'll want a 20 gallon long which is longer and elongated. ;)

  • @daturtle9065 everybody wants to BREED... of-course

  • i`m getting a leopard gecko i want to learn more before i get it an i want to pick a oarkit bark for leopard geckos bedding for my first step but i want to get more info

  • @dragonstorm555 for bedding ull want to get trex sani chips it is desinged for leopard geckos and snakes

  • where the fuck is the gecko?

  • im getting a leopard gecko and I am getting reptile carpet for it. Is this better then sand I don't want to kill it.

  • is it ok to use natural sand?????????? please reply

  • @MrCoolaaa1

yes, it fine and dont listen to all the people. ive used calcium substrate for a long time, it'll only back up their system if they eat a lot of it. if you do buy substrate just make sure its finely ground

  • @MrCoolaaa1 no, it will get impaction, use tissue paper,

  • she goes agaist the other guy on expert village about the sand shes wrong hes right sand causes impaction even calcium sand because it is man made and not its natural shape under a microscope!

  • Never use calcium sand... and it is NOT easily digestable it can kill them easily..

  • how big are hachlings because mine is 3 1/2 in long and i had him for a year

  • is a exo terra 60/45/45 cm terrurium be ok for 1 gecko

  • Hahah by far its the most hated instructional video i have ever seen:D Nice going "expert"village....

  • You guys suck. Some say sand is good some say it is going to kill it cmon.

  • actuly sand dosent represent there natual habitat its more rock a packed sand so i use small slate tiles anchored on top a sand.

  • this vid didnt help me at all

  • i have an idea when my turtles move from the 20gal into the 55gal il get 2 leopard geckos muaha :L im evil

  • Haha. I have one gecko in a 80cm x 50cm x 50cm -size terrarium. In my opinion a 10 gallon is waaaay too small for even one gecko.

  • Haha. I have one gecko in a 80cm x 50cm x 50cm -size terrarium. In my opinion a 10 gallon is waaaay too small for even one gecko.

  • Yep, because random T-rex skulls are really natural. Retard.

  • you stupid wanker. only thing you had right was 10 gallon tank

  • expert village my dickk

  • cool place to put your gecko

  • the video shit

wat about impaction you stupid bitch

  • sand causes impaction

  • damn u cll yourself expert how dumb are sand causes impaction yea they are desert animals but sand can kill them you said even in this vid it causes impaction why would you still use!!!!!!! you should not ever listen to anything involving sand as a compleate substrate!!!

  • @TheLeoexpert only if your gecko is eating a alot of sand is he in danger of impaction, if thats the case then yeah dont use it. my gecko is on the white calcium sand so the little he may consume when catching his prey is harmless. as long as your gecko show no signs of a blue seemingly bruised spot on it's abdomen or lack of appetite or lethargy then he's fine. if he does show these signs then you have a gecko that likes to eat sand and yes putting sand with him of anykind is dumb.

  • leopard geckos don't care about humidity, thy don't like it, their desert animals. She lies!

  • eww her arm is so veiny in a bad way

  • terrible shit and the 10 gallon is correct thats it though sand shes rediculous espescialy calcium sand its even worse

  • THIS VIDEO IS MUCH MORE INFORMATIVE.

    .youtube.com/watch?v=nxvNF-tb2ac

  • SAND KILLS!!!!!!! DONT LISTEN TO THIS VID

  • @violetcornsnake1 use walnut grind substrate! =]

  • @violetcornsnake1 ur a dumbass, sand kills??? learn to take kare of ur pet u dumbass... people like u are the reason why geckos everywere live uncomfrable lives living on carpet. RULE of thumb, when you feed ur animal, you dont feed them inside their home, snake owners know this better than anyone, and yet this rule is passed by ignorent owners. if you dont feed them inside their home, they will never eat sand, thus never get impaction +++ sand offers farr better living conditions and comfort

  • @violetcornsnake1 well isnt the channel called dipshitvillage?

  • @violetcornsnake1 Thank you! for the tip.

Is barque safe btw? Please respond.

  • @violetcornsnake1 Only if calcium/vitamin enriched -_-

  • @violetcornsnake1 you dumbass its not sand its calcium you idiot.

  • @violetcornsnake1 how does it kill

  • @violetcornsnake1 SUCKMY DICK

  • @violetcornsnake1 so sand kills them...hmmm.... one must wonder how these fragile creatures survive in their natural habitat.

  • sand is horrible dumb fuck dnt knw shit horrible vid dnt knw nothing bout leos

  • Comment removed

  • yeah i use to use this dirt that they backordered that you never had to clean the shit cause it degrades into the sand like fertalizer

  • Did u even reasearch before you got ur lepard gecko? That calcium sand is the worse sand u can get, the lizard licks too much of it and gets inpacted, and plus when the lepard gecko gets bigger ur going to need a 15 gallon for it to grow it's biggest

  • Guys use reptile carpet , it's the best for most of this types of lizards

  • Don't use sand this stupid bitch knows absolutely nothing about leos.

  • @ExoticReptiles101 well if u get them as babys they grow up together so you have to becarefull on what kind you get..

  • how many geckos can u put in a 20 gallon....i thought they fight?

  • @ExoticReptiles101 If you put two or more males in the same tank they'll fight.

  • Dont know what to put in my geckos tank

i had in bark and rocks and stones. i want to put in sand but i am scared of him digesting it. he not that young, he's as big as the old ones. what do use all think is should put in. ?????

  • @15VTI dont use any of that use reptile carpet, buy 2 of the size of your tank put one down, then cut the other in half and put it on the side your leo craps on you can switch the two halfs, then when ever he craps take out the peice of carpet and throw the poo out and put the peice back in, if you want u can wash the carpet but use cold water because hot water will shrink it, and replace the both carpets every month or so beacuse of the urine, id say this is the best thing to do cuz its so easy

  • @15VTI and it cant cause impaction

  • god your some expert 10 gallons isnt enough its needs at least a 15-20 gallons
