How come so many people mistake this for a simple multi-touch screen? That is just one small part of what it is capable of. Notice how the video puzzle is projected behind the physical objects? Notice how at 0:43 the paint program recognizes the shape of his hands? Obviously it is doing more than simply recognizing a tap/drag, which is all multi-touch hardware is capable of. The difference between iphone and surface is that surface uses infra-red to recognize the touch to the screen and iphone uses pressure or electricity (can't remember which one it was on iphone).

its not a touch screen. 2 projectors are below the table and a camera .the screen is a special type of crystal which becomes translucent and then to a transparent at a high rate. this allows the camera to capture hand when it is transparent. And you see the image when it is translucent. the speed of transition is too high for eyes to see . this is how it works.

first of all i was talking about the touch tech and. you really dont think it is only software that does those things. you need a chip in your camera to do that and you can buy two rf trancievers code a program there you go. for the paint software it has been in touch lib for a few years.
