It's a KC-135 from Rickenbacker on the south side of Columbus. The boom is down because they broke the hoist cable and they had to land with the boom down. I'm a crew chief on 135s at Rick and I was on duty that day.
this must be close to a military flight pattern,I see lots of post with military planes,or maybe a airshow close by,nothing to worry about,if that's what is being implied.
I'm always amazed at the amount of retards on here. AND funny chit people write. It's a KC-135 Stratotanker. How do I know? I work on the damned things. I work at Rickenbacker on the SE side of Columbus. That would explain why you saw one in Columbus. Why he had the boom down while that low? Who knows. They don't refuel that low so maybe he was having issues. Now, if you said it was an escape pod or drone....welcome to the "retard club".
That plane is designed to fly over houses and suck up brain cells from non suspecting donors.BEWARE.....people in the know will tell you its a refueling probe...yeah ok right
That KC-135T or KC-135R was demonstrating the boom capabilities for an air show or maybe running some test for the new model KC-135J. The only external difference between a KC-135R and a KC-135T is the presence of a clear window on the underside of the empennage of the KC-135T where a remote controlled searchlight is mounted. It also has two ground refueling ports, located in each rear wheel well so ground crews can fuel both the body tanks and wing tanks separately.
It's a fuel tanker. That's basically the gas hose coming out the back. It's got a little wing on it to help it stay somewhat level. I've seen these all the time.
We are surrounded with technology but at the same time younger & younger generation are coming out more & more ignorant.
They have no idea of history, science, or math. They have no idea about or military.
I have a nephew born in Bakersfield CA, 12 years old, he heard that some country called the US with a NAZI goverment name Bush invaded to countries. For no reason at all. And he asked, "Don't we have an army to stop him?"
Never heard of 9/11. Surprised man flew to the moon. Embarrasing
Heck, that's where my KC135 model went to. The thingy in the back is the support stand that goes on the block of wood to keep the plane up. If you see it again, let me know. I want this plane back !!!
You do know how they do aireal refuelling right? I live near Fairchild AFB (Look up B-52 Crash at fairchild), and they're famous for their refuellers.
what else would it be for dhuuu lol u never watched movies way things like that in it theres evin a british milatery survalince plane remot control and bileave it or not ad has been in the army ads a x-box remot its fast easy to use portible and already got alot ov buttons on it so not much adapting needed
When the Copperheads were deployed from Phoenix, Arizona, I believe they were gone six months. I was at Sky Harbor Airport (their base) the morning they returned home. The tower cleared them to do a flyby of the airport prior to landing. Every aircraft lowered its refueling boom during the flyby. It may be that this aircraft is doing a flyby for some reason.
I could have been on a training run. I have Hawk trainer that come in and do a t&g and hall it back to MooseJaw. I have also seen Hercs with SAR techs doing Low alt Jumps at the Airport. It looks cool and one of these days I'm going to get picture of the Hawk and the Jumpers. BTW btylow alt I mean at around circuit level (500 feet)
Yeah, that's a KC-135, for refueling planes in flight. What you see sticking out of the rear is the boom, which connects to other planes to send the fuel through. I dont know why the boom would be extended at that low of an altitude, though...
Could have been jammed, or it could have been a display for V.I.P.'s or even a flyover for a change of command ceremony at the local airbase. or it could have been a photo op.
Its a male jet in a mating fly pattern looking for a female jet to mate with. Seriously now, where did you think baby jets came from? The stork? (lol)
Thats a KC-135R, Its a military Variant of the boeing 707 and has been in service for years. It refuels USAF aircraft in midair, and has the capability of refueling NATO aircraft. Its in no way experimental or a space craft. The closest it has ever been to thats is the KC-135Q Variant which used to refuel the SR-71A Blackbird. I don't think it can be any better explained than this.
Any USAF aircraft based on the Boeing 707 airframe is a "135". We have Intel gatherers, RADAR planes, a midair refuel, which is what I think that aircraft is, and others. The letters proceeding "135" tell the aircraft usage by the USAF
It's actually not a tanker. This is a 707P, it is a specialized weather aircraft capable of detecting wind sheer with its weather probe on the tail end. Easy to mistake.
It is a KC-135. The probe is down. The KC-135 is a type of US Air Force tanker that can refuel planes in flight. The plane's model is based on the 707 but the air force does not have an existing aircraft that measures the weather other than some types of WC-130s and EC-130

Thats definitely a KC-135 with the refueling probe down. The small wings you see on the line are controlled by the guy inside the plane. He "Flys" the probe to help the fighter jets get proper alignment to refuel.

tmckinl 2 years ago
As others have said, it's a KC-135 R model tanker. The R model denotes the KC-135 with improved turbofan engines.
They never fly around as you see with the boom down unless it is a demonstration of some sort such as an air show, or other event like that.
The KC-135 has been flying since 1955 with the newest model having been built in 1964. Of the 732 tankers built, only about 500 remain in service.
