  • Goldenrod: Potassium is indeed often used in lethal injections, and results in stopping the heart from beating.

    Hyperkalemia describes the condition in which potassium is high in the blood. (hyper = high, kal = potassium or K in the periodic table, emia = blood).

    This can be due to a variety of reasons (including lethal injection). One of the most worrisome risks of hyperkalemia is stopping the heart (like in a lethal injection), so in patients this needs to be corrected asap.

  • Hyperkalemia is a condition not a drug, the 3 drugs used in Lethal injection are completely different. One ceases the respiration's and the others stop the heart and functions...
