@mfirebird3000 Well in strong winds the ships acts like their own sails. And even in fullpower they might not make it to push away against the wind. The collision with Carnival Legend and Enchantment of the Seas that took place in Cozumel last year prooves just that.

I was on enchantment and we got struck by lighting and we were stuck in Jamaica for an extra 4 hours

I always feel safe on a cruise ship though, Royal caribbean's Independence of the Seas is my fave, and safety always seems parmount, checking life boats and running different drills.

This happens like every other couple of months. It is pretty rare for this to happen. If you want the safest cruise line go with Royal Caribbean. You'll be sure to live.

@WamsWarrior I don't know I've been on Royal Caribbean when the ship had to make a sharp turn and everything fell over, and the Carnival ship OMG, well that was because of mother nature and the captain held it as best he could.

pretty much. if the ship is doomed, one they take forever to sink and two, there are lifeboats.

lol I've been on 5 and I'm going on my 6th in September with oasis of the seas, I've been on a lot because i live in downtown Miami, I'm a 5 minute walk from the ship

I was on the Grandeur of the Seas a week after she had gotten that dent. when my mom and i first saw the damage from a tender she flipped, but we were later told that the previous week she had blown into the dock at Costa Maya. it was pretty freaky, but the damage wasn't bad. :)
