  • You might ask yourself "Why can I NOT stop listening to this?" And you'll answer yourself: because it's so badass.

  • wow, surprised to see so much hate for this cover. I really love it, it transformed the song into a beast...

  • just 20 seconds, that's all i could watch of the original song, this version, in my opinion is way better..

sometimes covers are way too diferent from original song, like The KKK took my baby away - Ramones - Marilyn Manson, and sometimes people like it more, personally, Die My Darling - Misfits - Metallica,

  • this track annoys me so much that it makes me want to punch little kids right in the face

  • You guys are dumb. This is fucking awesome. Its everything I like about the pumpkins.

  • i especially like that "solo" in the middle.

  • i like the cover, its just a metal version of the song.

  • When I first heard this I was a big Talking Heads fan and I thought Smashing Pumpkins were a load of shite. Then I started listening to them and realised that they are actually a really good band. So now I have no idea why this cover version is so bad.

  • who really cares dude

  • I would do the bassist. She looks pretty good...

  • i think this was great because it was a relatively odd cover to do and in their own style. whether something is two notes or 50 the intention of the song and the artist who drives it is what makes rock what it is. of course the david essex cover of "rock on" was a good and odd but well played out cover. i think if you analyze too much over music (or anything) the joy is lost in the ability for an artist to deliver the best and worst all at the same time. I saw them in 00' and they rocked!

  • Billy is doing his rendition of this song. It's just a cover; it's not like it's an acutal radio song.

  • nomas no

  • .i´m tired of people like you, who think you are spreading knowledge, wisdom and the good manners to hear music, a shame you waste your time to search this video, write your shity comment, then being put as spam.

  • i've been a huge fan since '91 and i love this version, i think its really powerful, especially the part when he sings "what does he know about me and my life" i feel he was coming from a real place...that part gets me everytime.

  • Thanks for posting this! I like both versions tbh.

  • And you may ask yourself? Why can't you do better

And I will tell yourself. Because your suck!

    into the blue again...

  • I love this set and I love the pumpkins but this is just plain horrible.

  • its cool it is a bad cover of the song but its cool

  • wow,ive never seen anything like this in my life.never has a song been butchered like this before.sp arent fit to eat talking heads shit

  • ugggggggggg

  • god this is so awful

  • Corgan has become an ass

But I love this song fukk y'all

  • I'm a huge SP fan and even I know they totally shit all over this song.

  • Wow Yah This Is Bad

  • This isnt even really a cover.. its more of drawing influence.. I love Smashing Pumpkins and I think the riff and style of this song is great.. but its not Once In A Lifetime.. its just a song that borrows elements.. like a rapper when they sample a track..

  • i really like this cover actually... and i love both versions of the song too

  • This Has To Be The Worst piece of Shit i have ever heard

  • he shouldve stayed to the real lyrics...

  • Jeez! Seems like some pretty harsh comments here! The funny thing is that I love this cover very much! I've been watching this exact video for a few years now, and I always love this version. I actually like it better than the original, but I guess it's just one of those "to each their own" situations, eh?

    Man, I love this version!

  • This is the first time I've ever thought to myself "Shut the fuck up Billy Corgan" and meant it.

  • you might ask yourself...why is this track shit as hell

  • you may ask yourself, why do you want a ugly man instead of a beautiful wife?

  • @qwertyfuck1

And may tell yourself that's not your beautiful husband.

  • @PersonalJesus348 what's the matter with you?...only someone with a brain injury would like this

  • Well that was weird.

  • i love both of these bands, but this really is a bad cover.

  • Love it, i think they were not really trying to be serious. They were just trying to become a "rock" band. In order to get this you need to read a few interviews regarding the machina era.

  • A bad bad cover of a great great song.

  • I'm a fan of the smashing pumpkins...but i really don't like this, at all

  • i grew up with talking heads and smashing pumpkins i love both they're such different music right. so don't listen to smashing pumpkins expecting talking heads and don't listen to talking heads and expect smashing pumpkins you get it now people? lol he made the song is own. the best way you can ever do a cover

  • I'm asking why you trying to do this song?

  • I'm pretty sure it's meant to be depressing and deprived, and I'm sure Billy knows its not that great, but that's probably why he's doing it. It's his interpretation, and it's certainly not meant for Talking Head's fans.

  • im not digging that bass

  • Just like Billy to rob this song of all its joy and verve... and replace it with self loathing. Tosser.

  • Go kill yourself

  • They changed it so much it's not really a cover

  • I think the purpose was to make it their own otherwise it would be jsut a novelty performance.

  • Glad I didn't know the original by the TH before watchign :p I liked this one by the SM - their heavy guitar riffs are great. However now I will check out the original ;o)

  • noyce

  • and fuck you vidrez

  • hey fuck the talking heads pumpkins did way more for music than them, they should be lucky that the pumpkins took the time to cover them, fuck the talking head eat ass fanboys and girls.

  • i hear you

  • Billy Corgan would slap you in the face for saying that. Are you trying to pretend this is the only song that the talking heads ever released? They broke major ground long before anyone ever heard this song.

    I like this version okay.

Psycho Killer would have been a better choice to cover IMO. I'd love to hear Billy screaming

"We are vain and we are blind! I hate people when theyre not polite!"

  • someones crying

  • This easily the best Talking Heads cover ever. Why? because it's so fucking different from the original it's great. Notice the verses. The first verse, Billy Corgan sounds like he's doing his own version of David Byrne's lines and yeah it's cool, but the second verse takes the cake because instead of imitating the verse, it sounds like Billy is responding to David, asking "who is this guy talking to me" and "what does he know about me and my life"...something to ponder doesn't it?

  • The Pumpkins are putting their own spin on the song because they are fans, NOT a gay ass cover band. if they would have played it exactly like the original, it would have been gay. For the talking heads fans: The Smashing pumpkins are playing this live because they like the talking heads, they should, the talking heads kick ass.

  • Nah, There just playing it this way because they suck and couldnt find a better alternative.

  • Well whatever, people have different opinions. For the record though, I don't particularly care for this "cover".

  • love it

  • I love the Talking Heads, but covers (or A JAM, in this case) of their material usually suck.

  • how dare all of you speak of my beloved pumpkins like that. bite your tongues. and by the way, theyre not a lame ass cover band. thats why theyre not trying to sound just like the original (even though it is the same bass line, which other than the synths, thats pretty much the whole song)

  • No, but Billy Corgan needs singing lessons. It's alright to be a not-exactly-great singer (i.e. Bobby Gillespie, Ian Brown), but to be unlistenable is just a crime.

  • The Pumpkins have done this sort of thing before, where they borrow the words from a song and call it a cover (i.e. "Transmission" by Joy Division--same words, completely different music, arrangement and melody). Surely this isn't to be taken too seriously by anyone, let alone the band. (For the record, yes, the Talking Heads version is superior.)

  • Wow, this doesnt resemble anything "Talking Heads". I'm glad Smashing Pumpkins are done.

  • i like this...but, the talking heads do a way better job... :]

  • That's awful... =0 The Pumpkins should be better than that!

  • its a cover..

  • The Talking Heads are one of my favourite bands, I'd know. XDDDD

It's just a godwaful performance, let alone cover.

  • lol, sure, anyway looks like a jam

  • ITS NOT A COVER ITS A JAM

  • a cover would indicate that they had made the effort to play the original which is an awesome song.. i love the talking heads.. this is just a jam that was put on the end or intro of bullet during the final tour... they are just blowing off some steam in betweem songs... why not?

  • Who cares, it's still a crap performance!!! I couldn't care less that it ruins the original song or whether it's a cover: it's still crap!!!

  • I agree!
