there's another sketch where he is absolutely FANTASTIC, the one about Scottish poet Ewan McTeagle - There Eric does a parody of Lawrence Olivier's acting saying "Can I have 50 pounds to mend a shed?" with a nasal voice and dressed as a Shakesperian character LOL I crack up everytime I see it!!!

This is why i believe that David Jones hsould never had been the british Monkee. Eric wouldve fit in much better as the british member, he was goofy enough and at the sametime had that "heartthrob" charm about him. He could even croon like a teen pop "idle" (pun intended)

I love Davy Jones and Eric Idle. The only problem with Eric being in the Monkees is that would have kept him from being a Python.  That just wouldn't do.

Not really... the Monkees first started in 1965. By the time 1969 came around, however, they were basically done. Peter Tork had already left and Mike Nesmith was getting around to leaving. The glory Monkee days of 1967 was over.

So... If Terry Gilliam can be an American and come over to be a Python... I don't see why Eric Idle couldn't go BACK and be a Python after the Monkees.
