No, it was all one piece, but if you notice, he cuts them after tying the second not, so yes, in essence they aren't connected after he's done, but they came from one piece of stitching.
i cut my hand accidentally with a knife and it was bleeding like tap water. when i went to have it stitched up, they gave my four jabs and it hurt more than when i cut myself. but after that i cant feel a thing.
@cristiawan My adrenaline was still pumping pretty good at this point, so even the shots they did before the cleanup didn't hurt. Good thing, too, they scrubbed that sucker like it was a dirty lasagna pan...
@tornblackwings They had already put about 7 shots of anesthetic in and around that area, then cleaned it thoroughly with a large washing syringe. So I couldn't feel anything at this point.

Nicely done! I'm a Paramedic student and the wounds I usually see are quite a bit more messy (the ER docs I work with are more messy too, lol)! Hope it healed up well!
Awesome video. Thanks for posting it; I love seeing the process of how we're mended back together after suffering wounds that would take ages to heal (if ever) otherwise. Not to mention that I've never seen anything stitched up before, and I was curious as to how the quick, small, individual stitches are done.
@shewasfire I did some reading up on it, as well as watching other videos on youtube as well. They always go in halves, so they put one stitch in the middle, then another in both halves on either side of that stitch and then the middle of those halves and so on until they all meet at the proper distance. It's been three weeks since my accident and it's healed up quite nicely already.
What he is doing is known as Instrument Tie :) One of the simplest suturing methods.

so is every stitch that connects the parallel gash edges a separate section of string/wire then?
