李宗盛曾出書《音樂聆聽報告2002-2004》， 在書中聲稱王菲的黃金時期已成過去， 批評王填詞的《將愛》是“故弄玄虛，讓人無法意會”， 還暗諷王的“另類音樂風格”有抄襲西方音樂之嫌。 最終，在2004年台灣金曲獎上， 王在贏得“最佳國語女演唱人”後， 酷酷地說道：“我會唱歌這個我知道， 對於金曲獎評委給予的肯定， 我也給予充分的肯定。” 娛樂媒體廣泛認為這番話是王菲對李宗盛的反擊回敬， 菲迷則對她這席話拍案叫絕，大表讚賞， 認為只有王菲才敢說出這席話。 當然也有一部份人覺得她高傲、目中無人， 反而成了對金曲獎評委的肯定。 不過，這樣的得獎感言堪稱經典， 因為王菲常常說別人所不敢說出的話！
