  • Very helpful. Thanks!

  • @ yozitaki. Its called binding the reciever to the remote. Look up how too bind your heli.

  • Does anyone know how to sync the transmitter with the receiver? Someone gave me the helicopter without a remote, so I just ordered one online. Now I can't get them to connect or anything..

  • My CX2 is always going forward...I even adjusted the elevator trim but it still moves forward...what can be a possible fix...plzzzz help.

  • can you fly it without the body

  • I am looking to buy a cx2 it's any good for a beginner helicopter pilot

  • I got one of these for free the other day. It needed a lot of work. I still can't get it to fly nearly as stabile as my MCX-2... but it was free so I didn't lose anything.

  • Why do you have to have that awful annoying music playing while you are trying to explain something.

It makes the video impossible to watch.

  • I just got my blade cx2 and it had a problem. I have flown it for 2 days, about 5 times. It started ok, it just needed a little trim adjustment to the back and right. Then it worsened. The problem is described in the previous post

  • I noticed at 3:54 the round disk that the servos move to make the lower rotor change pitch to move the helicopter in flight is even with the bottom of the motor. Mine is slightly angled down in front and angled down on the left side (looking from the front). This is causing the heli to want to move forward and left even though I have the trim all the way to the back and right but it still doesn't help. During flight I have to hold the right stick back and right to hover. How would i fix this?

  • Very informative. I was playing around with mine when I noticed the controls were in the first holes. It was very hard to get any forward and back movement. I moved the controls to the 3rd set of holes and now it can zip around quite fast.

  • thanks for infos

  • awesome video. I'm new to the hobby. I have the blade cx2 and when i try 2 take off it move in directions by it self. how do i make mine hover pirfectly like yours? thank u for your time. keep on flying.

  • I got the same parts right after i crashed mine. Im sill learning to fly.

  • Really great stuff Nightflyyer, I like the vid. keep up the great work, 5 stars

  • I thought you had to balance the blades and head???

  • why did he put white out on the top blade to track it? What is the reason for this? Im new to this, and just bought a cx2. Iv'e crashed it about 20 times now and had to change the bottom rotor and now it flys like shit. I put it back together just like he did here but something is wrong. HELP. When I take off it cuts hard to the left and backward a little. (tail facing me) Trim settings do not help. Something is major wrong.

  • Just got the hang of flying mine (1st heli) had to replace some parts, the usual! The problem now is that even with the 'rudder' trim all the way to the left it'll still spin the opposite way!Any ideas? Thanks.

  • can you make a video about upgradeing a rc dauphin, esky ?

  • sure wish they had a brushless and battery upgrade on these, more power and flight time would be nice.

  • Not brushless, but the extreme motors make a HUGE difference in performanc.....need to turn gain down and hang on, will shoot up like a rocket....best $23 upgrade u could ever make.

  • Man if only I couldve found this vid a year ago. The cx2 was my first big boy heli. I always thought that helis were so much easier to fly then I got the cx2 lol but I'm pretty good with it now but I can't fly the blade cp+ for notin but I'm workin on it if you have a vid of that one plz tell me.

  • i love the elvira in the back thats awesome

  • Hi Dave, I see that you have flown both the e-flight blade cx2 and the Esky hunter. Which one would you reccomend to learn on and which is the better value, price vs. quality? I was told that their parts are interchangable, is this true????

  • i wish i could fly mine =[. i got my cx2 about 2 years ago and all the blades are spit from my crashes. Also the cogs are worn down so only the top blade spins. =[.

  • 12dart12, sounds like u need to get to a hobby store. I know it kinda sucks but replacing parts is part of the hobby. :)

  • Für dieses Modell gibt es reichlich Ersatzteile.

  • First time I flew mine, I demolished it. My dad went to the store to repair it, and when he came back, I noticed that he had installed both of those things!

  • i love my cx2 i think its a great beginner heli....it was mine

  • they r crap i had one never crashed it we had replaced the electronics and it still does not work

  • I have bought a Blade cx2 and need to change the outer shaft main gear.Does it just pull off the shaft and the new one push back on? I found the video helpful thanks

  • how do you take the outer shaft out?

  • when you moved the push rods on the servo arm what does that do to the heli fast forward flight and more manuvrable or what

  • I i got the cx2 today in the alluminum head was already installed..

  • Yep, same here and the new tail boom and such. Nice little chopper...i crashed a blade 400 and gave up with the 3d shit

  • Was it fixable or completely gone?

  • Well i traded it and the guy has it flying right as we speak

  • Is there a video of you installing a tailboom? I need some help

  • cool i really like the info on the servo

  • Shit I thought that was Charles Bronson there for a minute.

  • lama v4 is a better helicopter

  • i dont see you fly this anymore

  • u shold try out the lama 5

    i think it's by colco

  • Coming soon.

  • Screw the upgrades... you're a pro pilot! Take of, do a short fly around a small room, and land in more or less the same spot.

I can barely keep it hovering in one spot - I've had to replace so many part from crashes :(

  • Just pointing out that many people are hyped by upgrades before they can find out if they can fly or need them at all.

  • This guy knows what he is doing. Landing it on the same (SMALL) spot is not as easy as you might think. He did a great job explaining the upgrade and that's why you clicked on the link!

  • I am now good in blade cx2,which heli i have 2 fly next ?please advice me is the walkera 4 3b good for me for the next step after blace cx2 ? please advice me

  • Too small to learn on as smaller is way more sensitive and twitchy.

  • I have those parts on my CX2 and there well worth the time and money in the event of a crash.

  • i have a question i have the mcx and i would like to know how good a it i should be to advanced into a little harde of a helicopter and what would be a little harder one like the mini spark with the one blade true 4 channel helicopter or something else but i would like to get a little more advaned because in my standerds i can fly it somewhere betwean o.k and goodish but i dont crash vary often and i can land in a maby 7x7 space and can trim it to where it hovers on its owne(bad spelling)thanks

  • Sparks are difficult to transition to. I say "Learn on a VW and if you never crash it, then get the Porsche and also read my 9 heli flying tips, if you got em".

My next best choice for you would be the Honeybee Fixed Pitch. (MK 3)

    See xheli(.)com

    Here's a link for today's prices.

They are cheaper and can fly nice circuits around and can handle the wind well. Even better is the CP2, but this one has more parts to break if you crash.

  • question

is this better than the blade mcx

  • This is harder to fly, but a great choice. I love my MCX the best.

  • i had alot of repair time with my heli-max cx. i had to learn to repair that lil inner shaft .. i think i spent 50 bucks the first 2 weeks... on just the inner shaft...... i finally sold it to a buddy of mine for 50 bucks ... hes been harassing his cat with it and his wife.... me i just harrased my moms cat.. and hit myself in the eye with it .. lol

    chris

  • Ohhh n! I'm calling the spca. LOL...JK.

  • hey i wanted to know how you separate the inner and outer shaft properly

  • Well, I dont have one to look at anymore, but I think, you have to remove both bottom gears and the Rotor head. It comes out through the bottom.

  • Hello Again.

not knowing better id say it as three channels yes ?

one for the esc and two for the cyclic (or swash) im wondering how you turn is with no tailrotor because it seems to turn quite fast !

    Anyways good vid's. Thumbs up.

  • It uses the rudder channel to vary the speed of the upper and lower blades, using toque differential to turn. Thanks for the ind words.

  • I wish i can be your son >:)

  • OK, so there is a hole in the outter shaft on this model -- does the Aluminum part that goes on the outter shaft need to line upwith that hold for it's set screw? If not, how do you know how far down that part needs to be set?

Also, my CX2 no longer gets airborne. One think I noticed is the ESC light goes red after pushing the throttle ALMOST all the way up -- about 7/8-ths up. Does that mean the ESC is cutting off throttle power at that point?

Thanks for any information and nice flight!!

  • I would line the hole and screw up. Look at the parts breakdown in the manual closely. I cant take mine apart to see for sure, and I don't even have it here.

Sounds like a motor or both are toast. They don't last long if you don't follow the 5-10 rule. Fly 5 minutes, let motors cool for 10. Next the batt may be no good. If its drained below 3 v per cell, it will no longer work or accept a charge, so check the batt with a voltmeter. If it is under 6 volts, time for a new battery.

    Good luck.

  • Thanks for the advice. It is hard to put it down after starting to get it "hopping" up to hover. I mean hard to stop flying it, but I'll set a timer. I did put on new motors as a check, but -- please laugh long and hard at or with me -- I had put an upper blade set on the lower blade holder!! So, they were turning backwards and fighting the upper. Funny how you can look straight at a problem for hours and not see it until that one quiet moment of clarity.

  • YEA! :-)

  • I, i'm a beginner in RC flight. I've just bought a Blade CX3. I have the same aluminium upgrade, and mine does not flight as well as in the video. I think i have to pratice more......What do you think about the CX3? Do you project a video about the CX3. It would be great....and can you send me your ``9 heli tips``.....I can't find it.....Thanks for your good work.

  • On the way in a PM. If I get a cx 3, i will review it, but the ones I have seen fly do just as well as the cx2.

  • Another thing, this is just a suggestion but u might like the CX2 optional SH-60 Seahawk body. I'm thinking about getting it because the stock body is to breakable and the seahawk body is a lot stronger and gives it a tougher look. =)

  • You will break rotors and blades etc, long before the body, so wait till you need to change it out, unless you are experienced at flying.

  • i have a cx2 and for some reason i cant get it to hover without goin all over the place i adjusted my trim and it still doesnt do anything any tips???

  • Sent in a PM. That is the trouble with helis. THey go all over the place as soon as you move that right stick. Make sure it goe back to center and/or you undo every move you make. It takes lots of practice.

  • It would really help me allot. :)

  • I have the exact same aluminum parts too. I'm not the best with my blade CX2, so do u think u could make a video about proper set up, flight, and some tips on it. Plzzzzzzzzz?

  • The only tips I have pertain to all helis. Only watch the nose and no chop stick, no bang boom. See my 9 heli tips for more. I do not have this heli anymore, so cannot do much more than I already did, as this is the second video I have done on it. See "my choice between havocs and Honeybees to see the first vid.

  • mines all decked out with auluminum and i took the back plastic off and extendid it (cant spell good)

  • hey htis is prob wrong vid to comment on but u seem like u no a bit about helis... ok so heli works fine.. its cahrgin its flyin and i took a log brake from it.. couple monthso so.. and when i try to chatge it it has the red and green flashing lights which emans: not good and when i hook it to heli and i try to fly it the rudders or whatev dont even budge... does that mean i need a new battery or do u think somehting is wrong with the hlicopter

  • Make sure the throttle switch is all the way down and the trim. Then when you plug in the battery do not move the heli till the light changes. Also, you may have to Rebind your tx to the heli, as in the instructions.

    Good luck.

  • My Syma s001 keeps moving forward what should I do

  • No heli just parks. YOu have to learn to keep it still which takes very tiny movements on the stick and always recenter it after making a movement. Trim your elevator trim switch, back (down) so it will be trimmed. If there is no room left, make sure the battery is not too far forward and last resort, is to shorten (or lenghten)the control rod a turn or so, si it reasonably hovers with trims at half.

  • Thanks a lot I just tried it and saw that the battery was too much forward from the last time i did something thans and can you do a review on it I love your show thanks for the info

  • That hover is unbelievable. Do you ever have trouble with fishbowling? If so, what kind of remedies are there?

  • Thanks. Yes. Dont turn so fast, and it wont do that. Also rooms too small cause lots of turbulence that can cause that.

  • Hi! I have gotten pretty good at flying the blade cx2 and I think it is time for me to get a 3d heli , although I was wondering what you think about the Art Tech Falcon 3d and the honeybee king 2. Do have any recomendations for a stable 3d heli. I also noticed that my cx2 blinks red and green on the three in one control unit and won't start up, when I tried to bind it to my remote my spectrum DSM2 reciever blinked orange but never went solid even though my transmitter became solid red. Help!

  • Those helis you mention are definitely not for beginners. I say, learn on a VW, and if you never crash it, then get the Porsche. You will find a huge difference from the CX2. I recommend a HB fixed pitch. The cx2 needs the throttle trim all the way down and stick too, before it will arm. Try plugging battery into heli first, then turn on tx to see if it binds. And vice versa. Study my 9 heli flying tips for more insight.

  • hey nightflyyer could tell me how long the sevo rods are when they come out of the box i had acrash and did the upgrade..well my son had the crash..lol

but now our blade cx2 driffs to the left bad

and we have tried to trim it but its almost all the way to right any help i would be thankful...helihosko

  • I dont have this heli anymore, so cant tell you the length. The swashplate shoud be totally level, so adjust to that.

  • i need help! i unscrewed the collar under the gear and the inner shaft isnt coming loose.. plz help

  • I think there are 2 screws on each gear

  • hey again i just put out a vid of my blade cx 2 and i have the lower rotor head in aluminium and the swashplate tooo it works really well ! i share my video to you! hope you like it!

  • Loved it. Great job.

  • thanks alot!

  • if you are thinking about getting the CX2, the new one should come with the aluminum head and inner shaft installed all ready, mine did, and if you have the money, buy the landing kit, set of ping pong balls on rods, keeps it from falling over and blowing the blades. did crash my CX2,killed the landing skids, 5$(cdn) laterit was fixed, the point, if you have the money, get the CX2 and the mcx and just get the bind n fly version of the mcx, uses cx2 controller so save you money, start with MCX 1st

  • Good points. Thanks.

  • don't aluminum parts only make the CX2 heavier? i was thinking of getting carbon fiber parts...

  • Carbon fiber is lighter, and more expensive. But if you crash into things, like Earth, it may be best to go with the aluminum parts.

  • thank you for the answer!!! thats what i was thinking

  • do you recomend the blade mcx or the blade cx2?

  • From what I know now and for beginners, it is definitely the mcx.

  • Hi, great instructional video

Is it very hard to trim, could you tell me how to trim it, im planning on getting one after xmas 2008, hopefully my local hobby store will sell it.

    Thanks

  • Thanks for your comments. Yep, all helis are hard to trim. You only will ever get close, as they will never be able to just "park themselves" in the sky and stay there. It is learning how to keep it there with the ole thumbs. Good luck with your heli and study my 9 heli flying tips for more.

  • I upgraded all to all of the e-flite aluminum parts they are excellent although I wish they made aluminum or carbon fiber skids for them, I followed RCFIEND's video on strengthening them to help a bit. I also recommend upgrading the motors my stock ones burnt out in about 3 hours so I got the SE 180 Motors and some spare brushes :P and the site I use for most of my stuff is redrockethobbies(.)com

  • do you no of a good uk and US site to get official e-flite parts?

  • Nope, but try this.

    ipmsstockholm(.)org/hobbyshopguide/

  • Hey Dave, great vid. i an interesteted in buying one. can you give me the web adress for Donovan's hobby. thanks

  • donovanshsc(.)com You may have to call the 800 number. Only talk to Becky, Bill or John. Mention this video and also ask why there are no helis listed on their website. Good luck,

  • are there any aluminum landing pads for the cx

  • I dont think so. There are beefed up nylon ones though, which are safer and dont scratch walls when you crash into them. LOL.

  • Thanks for making the videos, they are very informative. A couple questions on this one: You adjusted the servo to be perpendicular when it's centered. Was that just a matter of removing and repositioning the servo arm?

What's the procedure for adjusting the blade tracking (where whiteout was used), if necessary?

Thanks again and keep up the good work!

  • Thanks. Put the trims in the center, then loosen the servo arm and makeit 90 degrees to the side of the servo. Then it is centered. Always raise the lower blade. TRACKING is done at 3/4 throttle. Put whiteout on 1 wing tip. There is not normally much adjustment needed on this heli. GOOD LUCK.

  • How do you raise the blade?

  • Typically you have to tighten the ball link 1 half of a turn at a time. I dont think there are any on the bottom rotors, only the top.

  • hey, great video, I also highly suggest you get an aluminum swashplate and motor heat sink. I learned the hard way yesterday that the swashplate ring got hot and seperated itself. Great investment. Ill have a video up soon with all of mods. Happy flying and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

  • Thanks kindly for your comments.

  • Great vids, very informative.

Do you have any tips on trimming the gyro gain and motor gains? I notice the tail of your CX2 doesn't move much, mine is fairly steady, but not rock solid and tends to drift just the slightest bit, and I've been doing micro like adjustments to the motor gains.

  • Thanks kindly. Well that drift is why most people cannot fly helis no matter how close it comes, it will never be perfect. It must be controlled with the left stick and pinched with finger and thumb, not just thumb. See my 9 heli tips for more insight, on it. If you dont have them, I will pm them to you.

  • Hey you are really talented at flying the heli

I have a blade cx2 and i wanted to make it more manuverable by changing the position of the push rod but I have one question. once I change the position do I have to make it longer or shorter or change anything else? And should I do it to both servos or just the servo that makes it tilt forward and backward?

If you get a chance please reply

    thank you for your time

  • I would put the rod on the outer hole of the servo arm. It will give more throw. If you want more on fore and aft, move just that one. If you want it on both do both.

  • oh okay

I just did both and its a huge difference thanks alot!

  • dace how you replace inner shaft

  • I never had to, so I would read the book and look at the drawings, if it was me.

  • man i already quit the tail but how i quit the gear

  • Quit????

  • how do you quit the tail!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Not sure of the question, but the invisible tail rotor is still controlled by the left stick as it would be in a tail rotored heli.

  • What happened to your blade? If you had it I was gonna send you an extreme tail to review..o well.

  • It wasn't mine.

  • that is soo stable! its really really ideal for begginers. i have a lama v4 and i am a begginer.. i crashed many many times, and bent the lower shaft. i cant take the shaft off coz the screw is glued to the retaining collar. is it the same as the BCX2? is it glued?

  • I know none that are glued. Maybe locktite, but the right size allen wrench should do it. There are 2 screws. The helis are identical, except for the radio.

  • hmm i havent got my hands on one of those BCX2 but i think it has more quality plastic parts than the lama. im planning on getting one in the future when my lama v4 gets totally wrecked LOL.

  • hay dave, can you make a video on how to put an aluminum swashplate on?

  • I don't have the Blade anymore, but probably would never change the swashplates anyway.

  • i have an esky co comanche, one prob i have, is that sometimes the flybar comes off in mid flight

  • WOW, that is not good. I never heard of the flybar coming off. Maybe the weights or the paddles, but never the whole bar. Something must be broke. Maybe put a drop of "Amazing Goop" on it at the place that is not holding it would work.

  • dont they make a metal swashplate or is that just for the lama v3 and v4

  • Yes they do, but since swash plates never break, I elected not to use it.

  • Thank you so much if I want to do it to my CX I can look at this first!

  • Your welcome.

  • Where is the science in this "Science Class"??? Why is this called Mr. Herberts Science Class???

  • Most of my videos are scientific plus I teach a science class too, as did my dad and uncle, Don Herbert, MR Wizard. This video is the science of installing upgraded parts on a very scientific and sophisticated model.

  • So your saying the HG king 2 would be a good second heli? What website can i go on to look at it?Oh and where are your 9 heli tips at?lol.

  • If you have surpassed the fixed pitch versions, the Honeybee king 2 is a very good choice. You can google it or do a search in Xheli(.)com to see them.

  • ok.which would be a better one to start off with?I mean which one would help me out better so i could get good at it andmove up.also would the blade 400 be a good secong heli? They say i should go to the axe cp after a trainer heli, but i havent had good luck with the axe cp.

  • Lama is cheaper but Identical to Cx2. Only difference is the radio. Lama is 72mhz and thge blade is 2.4ghz. Blade 400 is for very advanced fliers. I don't recommend it for beginners. If you had trouble with the Axe, you are not ready for the 400. I would get a HB king2, instead to learn on and study my 9 heli tips again, fly a sim a lot, and be patient.

  • Hey nightflyyer.great video!I was wondering is the blade cx2 a good heli to start off with if you want to get into helicopter? thankx, nick

  • I recommend it or the COCO Lama V4 which is cheaper. This will give you a good chance to learn. Also study my 9 heli tips for more. See my Other Blade Cx2 videos and you will see more.

  • Hey Dave, I just got a cx2 the other day and i have about 4 packs through it. But when i am outside i need more forward control. So if i moved the rod over like you did here would that work? But would i have to adjust my trims at all if i did this?

  • Congrats. Yes, you can give it more control by moving the rods, and trims usually always need changed slightly after any adjustment, but it won't be much if you just move the rods in the holes. If the trim switch right now (pushed all the way forward) will not give you enough forward flight, you will be pleased. It will be more sensitive to controls from the TX however and more maneuverable, which I like.

  • thanks you. So is it okay if the trim gets a little off when the battery get dead?

  • Yes. It's because the rotor changes speed by slowing down with the battery, the yaw trim changes too.

  • could you put a blade cx2 canopy on a v4 lama?? i like the bell 206b jetranger

  • I think so. They are virtually Identical except for the radio.

  • cheers

  • is the lama v4 good ???

  • Yes it is just as good. The cost difference is due to the Difference in Radios (FM in Lama, Spectrum in Blade) Both work fine for this application, however.

  • well i tried it again and its seated right and all, but the ball links are tight on the metal parts and the fly bar is also tight under the little cap, i dunno how i can fix that.

  • The anodized parts are too big for the stock ball links. All those part should be fluidly loose, or it will never fly very well.

I would try contacting the company and ask them to send you the proper ball links or ask them how to fix yours.

  • i put the metal upgrades on my lama v4 but its all so tight how can i fix it? also after having the full metal upgrade when i start it up it rolls to the right n crashes seems the fly bar is also sorta stuck. any ideas? thanks

  • They all should be very loose. Make sure gears aren't too tight against the motors. If it is all too tight, then you have to start taking it apart 1 by 1 till you find out why. Set screws go in certain slots. Shaft has to be seated in the lower gear just right, etc.

  • your are an rc pro!!

  • Thanks, but still learning.

  • I agree!!

  • Thanks kindly. Glad to help.

  • the newer versions of the cx-2 have the aluminum heads already installed. also, is the battery a 2 cell 7/4 volt 800mah battery pack? i have two of these from a roken helicopter that i plan to use in the cx-2, but the cx-2's battery looks linger. is that fine?

  • Yep, they smartened up with the heads since I made this review. 2 cell 7.4 v lipos are what the Blade Cx2 uses, so if you can fit your others in and balance it so it hangs level from the main shafts top blade at center, it will be fine.

  • I had the Aliminum Lower kit, and I was flying. I crashed and my shaft was bent, I could not take it off. It was stuck. Had to ply it out and decided to go back to the plastic.

    :S

  • dave,i tell you the results when i get aluminum parts.

  • Okay, great.

  • ok ty very much.

  • i found aluminum parts for lama v4,or v3 i just ordered those parts so i need some information about how to install those parts.

  • They go on just like the stock parts, so look in your manual and take the old ones off and put the new ones on, just like the pictures in the manual. It will be fine.

  • man...thats really cool...but i have a big problem....my baterries...will last only 3 minutes....i dont know why. i haVE 2....1 SAYS THE CHARGER IT HAS A error..and the other..last onbly 3 minutes..

    what have i done bad??

    sprry for the english...

    HELP./...

  • Not sure of the problem there, except 2 batteries, same problem, must be the charger. You have done nothing bad. If it did it since new, take it back.

  • Thanks Dave. Great Vid and nice tips.

  • Thanks kindly too.

  • Hey Dave... For the CX2, do you think the body is made of a good material? Is it sturdy? And how long do you think this helicopter will last?

  • Well if you don't crash, they last forever.

All of these helis are delicate, because they have to be light. They are made with Carbon fibre and fibre filled plastic, which is much better than Balsa wood, so it is good material.

  • Yes and if u buy/get lama v4 somewhere can you post a video so i can see how to install those parts.

  • Well i got lama v4 but i got plastic parts but i

    will order aluminum parts soon.
