This is fantastic! To whoever uploaded this and the other vintage Phish videos, THANK YOU!!! I saw my first show in 93, and from there, they've been my favorite band... having followed them and seen many many shows. Some folks don't like them and that's okay. Not everyone likes all types of music. But hey, this is a treasure of a find! Thanks again!
It was the first song they played that day, if I remember right -- but that was a long time ago. Nobody was surprised that Phish went on to reach amazing heights -- everyone knew they were awesome. I only saw them twice after UVM. Once, when they played Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA, maybe 1993? I chatted with Page and invited him over for dinner but he had plans with his girlfriend. I also saw them at the Shoreline in Mountain View, CA with guest tickets, but didn't speak with anyone.
haha i wanna go back to this video in the past, and walk up to trey and be like "Do you know in about 10+ years you are going to throw sold out festivals with the of 80 thousand fans showing up to see you? And that you will be ranked as Rolling Stone's top 100 guitarists'? and sell millions of CDs and DVDs? and you will purchase 3 Guitars at $10,000 each? And jam with Carlos Santana and Neil Young?"
Amazing. its like they came out of the box, already talented and ready for a tour... and haven't really changed since...! Like, who wrote all these subtle, weird little lyrics that they still sing to this day? and who would sing them at a backyard party? Only them.
i don't remember which song from this set it was, but someone commented "this band is terrible, they are never going to make it anywhere" haha...unbelievable
Yes, I admit I shot the video. It was back when camcorders were brand new. The tye-dies were by Hugo, the most amazing tye-die artist I've ever known. UVM '86.
What a surprise to see the video I taped 20+ years ago show up on You Tube. I guess it was only a matter of time. I take full responsibility for the lousy camera work.
This party is allegedly what bathtub gin is about

think Trey was channeling Dylan and Zappa a little while singing this. I can almost guarantee that Fish has no recollection of this show whatsoever.

I've heard these shows, but never in my life imagined I'd see them.
Trey has sort of a Wierd Al thing going on.

i really think its awesome how trey's voice has "matured" (even though i dont wanna call it that), but its sweet to hear these old tapes.
Also, he sounds just like he did on TMWSIT during this
