  • I have just been given a very nice chromatic 64. I normally play the guitar but last year had carpal tunnel operations on both hands.Upshot is that i can,t play any more so I am going to take up the challenge of the harp and you version of Angie has given me shot in the arm, really like it, give me a year no doubt. Thanks

  • @Mr13maddog13 That's a harsh pill to swallow with respect to your guitar playing, and you have my deepest sympathies.

The harmonica is a gratifying instrument with a sound all its own. I play diatonic harps myself, but I've always eyed the chromatic harmonicas with interest. I'm glad when anything I have shared has reached somebody on any level, let alone providing some form of inspiration.

    Best of luck!

  • Join me: Gospel Harmonica of Maine Channel

  • Gosh you play it wonderfully! I really love it!

Tried to do the same with my harmonica but the sound doesn't come out the same way, I'll practice, still I guess talent ain't something you can copy so I'll make my own version, but yours is definitely inspiring

    Keep up the nice work!

  • @xwonderxbananax Practice your bends and you should get pretty close, but keep in mind that at some point you'll develop a sound that is more characteristically you. I'm not really sure if I'm there yet, but I'm told that eventually that happens. Don't worry too much about being anybody's clone. Who and what you are is good enough already. What matters is your own personal development and your experiences.

    Most importantly, keep on harping!

  • i would have blacked out trying this song

  • extrem schönXD

  • @Leilant01011990 Haben Sie vielen Dank!

  • So nice, I can't play by ear, so I will never succeed in playing this beautiful song :'(

  • @Nyriex I'm sure you can get there..It just takes a lot of listening, and breaking it up into smaller bits.

  • Wonderful. I'm just starting out with the harmonica and this is inspirational :-)

  • @TheSeeka Keep at it, and you'll improve. Check out @KudzuRunner and @JamCamp06 for some tutorial vids..

  • Fantastic work mate. Very decent job, very much in the Stones tradition. Do you have the tabs for this.

I would say that play it by ear makes you musically literate.

  • Fantastic work mate. Very decent job, very much in the Stones tradition. Do you have the tabs for this.

  • MAN PLEASE... SEND ME A MESSAGE WITH THIS TAB ?? PLEASE!

  • @LunaticSurf

Sorry man, but I don't read or write tabs..I play strictly by ear, and I learn by listening.

It should be rather straightforward to figure out though, since that's how I learned it...

  • NICE HARMONICA !!!! THE WAY YOU EDIT WAS VERY COOL TOO!!!!!!!!

  • Thats the most beautiful damn version i have ever heard. (stones fan since 1977). My wifes name is Angie and i (try to ) play harp. I gotta learn this. You are a true master on this song.

  • @jawmbees

I'm flattered by your praise! Give my best to the missus.

  • @johnnybgoode777

    Thanks!

  • simplemente un groso!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I threw out that tab crap! Learned by ear and can play almost anything I hear now.

It's easier to learn my ear than to try to follow those little numbers and arrows.

    Thanks kokoro, you sound fantastic.

  • @Kenneth1944

I could never get into following those tabs.

As a harp player, ear-training is tops in my humble opinion.

Then again, it could just be that I'm musically illiterate ;)

Thanks for the support, and keep on harpin!

  • @kokoro86 LOL! Lots of good musicians were. I heard that Hendrix didn't read either. He knew his chords and certain scales, and just went to town with it.

  • what computer program are you using to get this reverb sound? thanks

  • @Brunoaz2000

Just Audacity..It's a freeware application for sound file editing.

  • Man,you are unique. You should be awarded.

  • @MissMarlaSingerr

    Thanks!

  • Heyy mann can u helpme? im starting to play it and i only know simplis thing like blow and draw XD

i'll be so glad if u giveme ur email or somthing to talk with u ;)

im from colombia and i have 16 years old :) Have a nive week

  • where can i find tabs for that song damn that was great!

  • @58belvedere Unfortunately, I don't have tabs, since I play by ear.

  • Great job ! You mentioned school. What are you studying ? (If you don't mind us asking).

  • @InBy9OutBy5

    Thanks!

  • @InBy9OutBy5

    I'm studying Programming, BTW

  • I am a lifelong Stones fan and I really enjoyed your superb cover of one of my all time favourite tracks. Well done mate.................. nice one, Cheers

  • Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Very nice. drinking a few beers tonight..and the next will be for you!!

  • Cheers!

  • wow, thats tight. how long have you been playing?

  • About eight years, but only 4 of them with any true focus. I practically haven't played at all for the last 1.5 years since I shifted focus to school and slide guitar.

  • This is really good korkoro, you say you're using a harp in the key of D?

  • pretty sure...

  • New harp player here, have to say your vid is absolutely amazing. Never heard such emotional harp before. But could you explain something to me? You say you learned the harmonica by ear, what exactly do you mean? I study songs by listening to them, then copying the right notes on a sheet of paper for later reference. So you mean you don't write down at all then? If not, I would slaughter a dozen men for this tab, really good stuff :p

    Cheers

  • Thanks for your kind words.

I never write down notation. Also, I hardly can follow most notation I DO read, and it usually comes out wrong-sounding when I try..

I generally listen, try to guess which harp it was played on, and then figure out the rest as I go.

  • Very nice, real bluesy. Maybe in the future let some of the notes hang longer and fade out a little more gently, but great song man. I really enjoyed it.

  • @super6one

Thanks for the kind words and suggestions. Cheers!

  • c??

  • @Maiasjim

    umm, pretty sure it's a D

  • Yeah , I can feel it !

  • @BluesDfender

I'm happy anytime I can make someone feel a performance. Thank you for your kind words!

  • I love this shit man.Damn good job.

  • @snayke1973

    Thanks for the compliment!

  • does that mean that I can't play it whit a C harp??

  • @Shifty3651727

If you play with the wrong-keyed harp, the notes will not be right. You COULD change the key of the backing track, however, and make it work.

  • good you are good. I am traying to play harmonica too. started playing some days ago. So I want to ask you what tones you played in. Its on d harp but what notes are you playing? i think it sounded like A tone much :P

  • I like starting with the 4,5, and 6 holes on the harp. You'll find it easier to get expressive sounds from the harp if you use draw bends and wah-wah hand movements to shape the notes.

  • Great tone. Good tasty harmonica playing. You practice what you preach. :o)

  • Thanks Lance, always a pleasure to hear from you...

  • WOW man it sounds great! It is diatonic Hohner, well done man, just keep going and upload more songs for us ;-)

  • Thanks for the kind words! When I get some time, I'll record some more songs...

  • I am using the exact same Harmonica. I think you got a more "raw" sounds... How do yo do it?

  • @Raggeno1

Probably the bending and inflection. You'll develop your own inflection and tone as you continue to play.

  • hey dude I am a musician as well i am thinking of picking up the harmonica now any tips?

  • Dam good i love it! I'm playing the harmonica also and i thought maybe you could give me some tips. I'm using the Special 20 Hohner Harmonica. I've been playingfor about 3 or 4 weeks now and am starting to sound pretty good myself. So tap back if you have some tips for me. Thanx a bunch man!

  • nice job my friend !! AWESOME

  • @jebatalo

    thanks!

  • Any Solid Tabs you Have, and please answer me in Which Key did You Play this song ???

    THANKS

    P:S. NICE TOUCH

  • @falgat

    D harp.

I play by ear, so I have no tabs to give.

I will be updating my video notes to fully reflect this.

  • WOW..... You could not put more emotion into that. The more I hear, the more I love, Please keep them coming you are an inspuration

  • This is one of my favourite Stones songs.

(There are many to choose from, however!)

    Thanks for your support.

  • I've listened most of your videos but this one is the best, definately. I love it. Keep harpin man, I'm waitin for new videos.

  • Thanks for your support, sundio86!

  • Great harp. It really adds texture to the song. If I were you, I'd drop the backing track and just play the song with harp. Improvise some notes during breaks, etc. Great.

  • Comment removed

  • *slow clap*

which kind of notes do i have to use for the harmonika ? plz send me a message when u read this comment

  • If memory serves, I think it was a D harp.

  • what key is that harp in?

  • u know..there wasnt any licks in there..but i played it three times so far..very cool dude..nice..im gonna listen to it again

  • The thing about a song like Angie is that it has such a beautiful melody that very little in the way of flourishes or riffs are necessary..

    Cheers!

  • hey dawg,,,youve nailed it again,,well done kokoro,,

  • thanks again feiz01!

  • Very very nice ;) i want play like you!!! Teach me my master! ^^

  • Thank you Yaksson.

  • very GOoD!!!!!

Please !! Whats is your tipe of harmonica... the mark !!! i wanna buy too =) Please

  • Thanks carlitosh4sh! I use Hohner Special 20s for most of my playing.

  • thanks thanks!!! =)!!!! !!!!

  • great jam man.

  • Thanks, Nazzman22!

  • Hey, great job. Im a little confused though. I always thought it was neccessary to have a mic in your hand to play blues harp but i dont see you using one. Was I totally wrong?

  • Sorry for late reply. I play unplugged as well as with a mic depending on the occasion...

  • Again for anyone trying to learn this song or any other for that mater. Get a Bflat,C,E,D and A that is all you will ever need for 90% of music out there. For this one D harp Inhale on #4 to start. Easy from there. Best of luck

  • For all of you beginner harmonica players dont be fooled by the the key a song may sound like its in. This song is best played with a D harp. not a C or A. Nice job on this one!!!

  • No tabs please.. ;-)

    Well done!

  • are they hard?

  • Man, i love this video. You are THE man:) And im sure that you know that. You inspired me to start with harmonica, now i got one. Lee Oscar..and my goal is to make this song! Love all your videos. Thanks alot!

  • great !

  • I love it.

  • real nice!!

  • can i play this song with harmonica in c??? en castellano: es posible tocar angie con una harmonica en do de 10 celdas?

  • thats badass. do you have an effect on it to get that clean sound?

  • this is brilliant

  • Good shit man.Thats awsome

  • wow! awsome!

  • Thanks klyfo!

  • Bravo !!!

  • Muito bom. Sem excesso. Mito técnico. Parabéns!

  • Você é demasiado amável! Obrigado para você elogios.

  • Hey kokoro thanks for the info. I'm in a band and play harp as much as I can. Check out my Mary Jane's on my channel. I am a beginner harp player and just laying down some harp tunes of my own. I figured out Angie minutes after seeing you do it with my C harp though. I need to get some low octave harps. I have several key harps but they are the high end. My C gets a lotta use though.

  • Hey great job. What key is the harmonica you are using?

  • beautiful!

  • Thank you for the compliment.

  • you really have talent. how long have you been playing? i hope to be half that good some day

  • I've only actually practiced for the last 2 or so years. Before that, I owned a harmonica and might pick it up for like 10 minutes once in six months, but it was strictly 'Oh Susannah' and

'Michael Row the Boat Ashore' for me..

The expression and note bending came over the last 2 yrs or so..

  • This is just awesome man. I'm happy for you that you can make music like this.

  • Glad you like it. Thank you for the kind words.

I'm just glad it came out well.

  • very good man i loved it im startin 2 play it now its a really fun song 2 play

  • Thanks. Very cool potato cannon BTW!

  • hahaha yea that thing is awesome lol thanks for watchin it tho

  • Perfect 5 stars
