Well there's a memory, my late father was a friend of McColl's, long gone to his final reward but he always claimed he helped McColl write that 3rd verse and he always sang it as
"Born at praty lifting time In an old drawn tent by the prates field" You brought it all back to me thank's for the memory well done
@padraigpurseal Thanks Padraig. It never ceases to amaze me how folk song lyrics change over time. I've been toying with doing 'Black is the Colour' recently. Trying to nail down a definitive version is quite a challenge. Even the melody seems to differ depending on which side of the pond you're from. Great comment. Cheers mate.
Well executed and played with the ease and conviction we've come to expect. I'm gona set off double early next year and build a new stage at Glastonbury called "The Real Talent Stage" You'll find a home there Nav. :-)
@SteveGad Loved your comment Steve. Glastonbury must have been great in this weather. If you can guarantee more sunny stuff for next year and a jacuzzi in my dressing room I'm in!!
@dearydarling Hey Miss D!! It's been a while. I've missed your turn of phrase. Your words are a great source of inspiration to me. Thanks for your kind comments as always.
@BlueLily707 Hey thanks alot. Do you think the red adds something? It's either anger or passion isn't it? It's a protest song so may be it fits. Colour coordinated mood songs. Now there's a thought. Hmmmmmm....
Great job, Nav. Nice to see you back, too. I agree with the cowboy comments - plenty of pauses there for a head-hit with a tray. Incidentally, I see you're allowed in the lounge these days. Regards and all the thumbs.
@raffaport Always good to hear from Wigan's finest. Thanks for your humorous comment. Not sure lounge suits. Everything's very red including me! Bit like the inside of a brothel ( I imagine!)
Absolutely brilliant ! 9 o'clock here in south of spain on the 1st june: it's damn hot, sun is shining and your song playing. Nice way to wake up! Un beso!
@luisamac77 It's 8.22 am in South East England and cloudy. We've got rain to look forward to later so you win with the weather!! Have a great day and gracias por comento
@raymondcrooke Yes, you've got an enviable musical stamina. Perhaps I won't put my guitar out to pasture just yet! I appreciate you commenting Raymond.
@dunskie Danny!! Always a pleasure to hear from you. Hope Boston is treating you well. Drop me a line sometime. I'd like to know what you're up to. Bands and stuff.
Yeah!!!! Rocking her there at the end and intense the whole way through, the guitar really cuts through the mix .... nice

You're back :) And no retirement for you Mister! The Troubador's life is a song, never silenced, it sings on and on, long after he's gone.
i think you should quit when you run out of songs worth keeping alive and passing along

@newbie2guitar I think I know what you mean. The guitar riff has a bit of an 'Apache','Rawhide' feel. Thanks for commenting mate.

Always good to hear a Ewan MacColl song. Who says you need to retire at 60? I didn't stop even when I reached my goal of1001 songs!
