Emirates is replying that their maximum liability is $46k based on a standard calculation from the cargo weight. According to your reply, you had already received the goods so the issue is with the owner/operator of the facilty and Emirates who is managing the whole process.

At any rate, I would strongly advise that your friend contact a lawyer in the UK to take up this situation and I'd refrain from posting too many details here as it may wind up hurting his case.

Shipping expensive cars is nothing special and should be normal for Cargo airlines. Whenever someone outside of Europe buys a car made in Europe the car is then shipped to the receivers country. This kind of screw ups when dealing with these vehicles are more common than most people realize, and stricter regulations need to be set to protects us customers and our investments.
